Such an exciting time to live in isn't it? I really hope I'll be able to take advantage of this before I die. I want death to be an option. I want to live a very long time.
I started out loving this guy and all that he's about. Using his teachings I have now concluded that he is part of the New World Order. There is no more crazy talk. It will be those who control and those who wont'. Money vs Nothing. Food vs Starvation.
Kurzweil's a genius, but he underestimates the destructiveness of government to individuals. 2.4 million in prison right now, 1.752 million in prison for victimless crimes, and millions murdered every year by the FDA+big pharma preventing life-saving technology from arrival in the marketplace.
Whenever I hear the conservative reaction to the opinions and predictions of men like Ray Kurzweil I must ask myself this: If we, the Human Race, do not take risks, and break boundaries, and strive toward tecnological and social progress, what then is the purpose of our existence? It has never, in the history of mankind, been our nature to sit still. We have always worked to better ourselfs. If everything is allowed to stay as it is right now, I fear for our world and for our Human Race.
Daniel Lyons, writing in Newsweek, criticized Kurzweil for some of his predictions which turned out to be wrong; such as the economy continuing to boom from the 1998 dot-com through 2009, a US company having a market capitalization of more than $1 trillion...........yeah really good predictions..........US media ass licking the jews as usual
Out of 147 predictions Ray Kurzweil made about the year 2009 Daniel Lyons managed to find a few he'd gotten wrong. We'll just ignore the 127 he got right.
Well, my confidence is shattered. Anybody else?
BTW, I'd take you more seriously if you hadn't let out with that "the jews" bullshit.
The engine that drives the so called GMO science is the patent rights laws. When they vandelize genetic codes the patent laws allow them to extort money from people the code is let loose on . They are not perfecting a dam thing. They are destroying what either god, and or natural selection has taken billions of years to prefect. These people are monsters destroying what they can not produce and claiming understanding of what they can never begin to even have a conceipt of.
The so called genetic deseases are not a fault of the human genetic code being wrong from design or development. It is a fault of chemical, and sub atomic destruction of the genetic code. The deseases he is babbling about are the result of genetic vandilisim, either by design or by accident. His so called science of genetic engineering does not perfect new genetic code. His GMO science simply vandilizes the code to yield certain outcomes while ignoring all the outcomes that are not planned.
@romodrummerjz Dude, really. Why does an omnipotent God have to bother with any of this goofy apocalypse stuff? And why does an omnipotent God need to torture people forever?
Absolutely. Like only the very richest people can have personal computers.
Oh, wait.
Well, of course cell phones are thousands of dollars so only the wealthy can enjoy the benefits of all that mobile communications, not the ordinary people...
Oh, wait.
No, it's not going to be only 0.01% who can afford "this expensive bullshit." All of recent history says otherwise.
I clicked "Not Spam" because, wrong as you are, your comment wasn't spam. Boo on whoever flagged it as such.
Yeah sure in a time of overpopulation everybody will be able to use a chip that allows them to live for several hundred years no matter how stupid and worthless he or she is.
And you know that the german Reichsbahn experimented in 1918 with the first mobile phones right? Quite some time till everybody was able to afford one i would say...
They *experimented* with it. And Charles Babbage *experimented* with computers in the 1830s. In both cases it was just that: experimentation. Not even 0.01% had it.
When computers and cell phones became available to the rich, they soon became available to everybody else. There are people on welfare who have computers and cell phones.
Tech goes down in price. Sorry that bugs you, but it does. I know this isn't as cool as cynicism, but it has the advantage of being true.
I have been following Ray's work for years now and I have read all of his books and got the honor of meeting and talking with him in February at his movie premiere. I believe that most of what he predicts will come true as crazy at it sounds. Get ready for REAL change in the next 40 years people. Not Obama change! :-)
@BrentAltonNally Change to what? If this technology is integrated into human beings will we really be us anymore? and I really don't like the idea of machines going into MY brain we can barely get lasec right. More than likely his ideas will be used as weapons by the military and exclusively for the ruling elite. Nanotech has been talked about for years but still today no such self replicating micro machine exists today.
@anewlow23 As for your last comment, Dr. Craig Venter's team created artificial/synthetic life last year. Dr. Venter's team created a bacterium from four simple chemicals and created a self-replicating organism whose partent is a computer.
@BrentAltonNally Bacterium I am not talking about a bacteria. A bacteria is not controllable on the level that Kurweil is talking about to go through your organs and into your brain and repair cell structures. Kurzweil was talking about nanobots and self replicating MACHINES which still, that we know of, do not exist. Also Kurzweil strikes me as a very callow person in this interview. A way of controlling fat production its called getting up off your fat ass going outside America!
@anewlow23 Now I see the discrepancies between our understandings regarding this subject. The synthetic cell that Dr. Venter's team created IS a "self replicating (synthetic biological) MACHINE" which you stated "still, that we know of, do not exist." You are incorrect here. It does exist already. Venter's team PROVED that biological life IS software driven- they did this by CREATING a new synthetic species from computer code. I disagree that Ray is callow, although I respect your opinion.
@BrentAltonNally Ok a bacteria they have created is synthetic ok its self replicating as all bacteria are but it is not nano size and cannot manipulate molecules to construct things on the atomic scale and is not applicable to what Kurzweil is talking about here in this interview.
@anewlow23 Agreed. Think about this though: if you take the highest regarded nanotechnologists at their word, they say that in 15-20 years we will have the technology to do what Kurzweil is talking about in the interview. In reality, these technological innovations will eventually occur, whethe it be in 15 years of 1,500 years, they will occur. It is up to us to make it happen sooner rather than later. Remember, Kurzweil is reporting his findings from 30 years of research and trend forcasting.
@anewlow23 Parkinson's patients already have computer chips implanted in their brains and 80% of these people say that it is a part of them now when surveyed. I do agree with you that these technologies need to stay away from military peole who are the scum of the earth though...
Essentially we will become one with the Borg or like the Six Million Dollar Man & The Bionic Woman or like the 80's cartoons Centurions,Galaxy Rangers,etc....that's going to be cool.for my part would love to have an Exo-Suit like the centurions.
Anyways, even though this stuff looks interesting and it pushes world forward, I'm not sure if it's going to be all that good for us, like if we start living in 3D world are we going to forget what our real world feels like...Kinda reminds me of Inception :)
He repeat himself like machine already.
