yeh but the F22? its a corrosion nightmare esp at $300m each!! the biggest problem with the mig29 was the super short airframe lifespan! it was one of the most important areas to address in the mig35. still though bang for your buck - its a hard aircraft to beat.

@RogueBrit You're withholding the rest of the story. Germany practiced gun shot only combat maneuvers, the MiG-29 dominated the F/A-Hornet in this exercise. However, the German pilots stated the MiG-29 severely lacked avionics and pilot information systems, where the F/A-18 dominated with it's MDT's and radar. Lastly, an AAMRAM missile fired by an F/A-18 Hornet is the last thing a MiG-29 pilot would experience.
@RacerXGTO An AMRAAM (not AAMRAM) from any western fighter is the FIRST think a MiG-29 would experience. No MiG-29 has ever survived an actual air-to-air engagement with a western aircraft and most were shot down BVR. This cannot be blamed on the pilots. The AMRAAM is just very good at doing its job. The two MiG-29s that were shot down WVR were very experienced pilots. They fought hard, but the F-15 pilots that killed them were better trained and made their experience matter very little.

I dont recall saying that Russian "jets" were best. I think it was you that said the F22 was the best. Unfortunately it has never had experience in the real world. F15/16/18 have been tested remarkably well and this point alone makes them head and shoulders better than the F22. The F22 is simply too expensive and does not have a high enough flight rediness to be truely effective. All have superb pilots as do the russian based planes. I cant vouch for the other nations that fly Russian hardware.
well i wasnt paying attention to who replied.the F-22 has been tested in simulated combat up against F-15,F-16,and probably F-18s and in a 2 week time period maybe a bit longer the Raptor had more kills then the F-15 did in 40 years of service but with 2 losses. now if thats not remarkably well idk what is. and the reason its not in combat right now is because we already have air superiority we had it from day 1

@RexSDMF in the RAND report, the F-22 was the only plane from the "blue team" that were able to suppress the "red team". It was F-18 SuperHornets and F-35's fighting without an AWACS that were inferior to Su-27SP's and Su-35's. The F-22 is not inferior in acceleration, climb, turn capability or speed. However it's very advanced which means it requires a lot of maintenance. The F-35 is the plane referred to that "can't turn, can't climb, can't run" which is why Japan and Australia wanted the F-22
Mig 25 first flight 1964, F15 was 1972. Mig 29 was 1977, F22 was 1997-YF22 1990, Su 37 was an extesion of the Su27 which first flew in 1977. You really do need to get the facts correct.
Ofc, Tomcat and Fulcrum have common things tho those aircraft were designed for different tasks.
But Soviets noticed US engineers also took some ideas from MiG 25 designing F-15...

Excactly EarthRover, you are absolutley right. A superpower doesn´t sell their primary equipment and weapons to a third world country for two main reasons: 1. You don´t want that equipment to be used againts you some day and 2. You don´t want that equipment to fall into your enemies hand eighther. ive seen it all now. The N007 is going to see the 22 on rdr huh? At what range? 5 miles? The MiG-31 and the AA-9 are great weapon systems for destroying bombers. A SARH missile, completly depending on the N-007 for guidance, that can't pull more then 6G's aint going to do you much good against well F-15 or 16. I can assure you that if the APG-63v(3) or 68V9 cant see the 22 BVR, then the N-007 definatly wont. Gain some confidence in the ARH AA-10 and the R-77M1, look up the AIM-120C7 and C8 also

Mig 25 first flight 1964, F15 was 1972. Mig 29 was 1977, F22 was 1997-YF22 1990, Su 37 was an extesion of the Su27 which first flew in 1977. You really do need to get the facts correct.

But Soviets noticed US engineers also took some ideas from MiG 25 designing F-15...
There are more examples... ;) Just compare F-111 and Su-24 (also Su-32/34). Same about B-1 Lancer and Tu-160... Everybody copied sth from enemy's offices.

The morons always have to comment "our stuff is better than you stuff". Also Mig-29 has little to do with the F-14 (doesn't even have VG Wings)
It has a few drawbacks, but with a good pilot and modernized avionics/fcs/and weapons it can be formidable.
Big drawback is it's short range, and the positioning of the main landing gear relative to the engines.

Excactly EarthRover, you are absolutley right. A superpower doesn´t sell their primary equipment and weapons to a third world country for two main reasons: 1. You don´t want that equipment to be used againts you some day and 2. You don´t want that equipment to fall into your enemies hand eighther. And to be fair the US doesn´t sell their primary version of the F-16 to Israel or to any other country eighther. But I agree with your point here.

I'm sure, just like the Su-47 and the MiG 1.44. Which are not even being produced. Of course it would take the russians well over 10 years to develop such a fighter....In the meantime the F-22 will continue to run supreme.

Your so ignorant its not even; stealth is no propaganda. The F-22 will kill any fighter currently in service and believe me the 120's have plenty of range, especially the C-7 and C-8. FInally, 40 min missions? Ive seen it fly 10 min missions at airshows. It can stay in the air way longer the the F-15, which stays up pretty long. Re-recheck your sources

ive seen it all now. The N007 is going to see the 22 on rdr huh? At what range? 5 miles? The MiG-31 and the AA-9 are great weapon systems for destroying bombers. A SARH missile, completly depending on the N-007 for guidance, that can't pull more then 6G's aint going to do you much good against well F-15 or 16. I can assure you that if the APG-63v(3) or 68V9 cant see the 22 BVR, then the N-007 definatly wont. Gain some confidence in the ARH AA-10 and the R-77M1, look up the AIM-120C7 and C8 also

I agree most people do underestimate the Mig-29 i but i reckon the main reason is beacause everyone assumes America to have the best fighters (which they don't) so they will think 'ohh it is Russian not American must be shit'.
