Hi had extractions done on 12-8-2011 and you and couple of ladies on this forum really helped. I am doing okay and am grateful for all of your advice. I was wondering if you still used Cushion Grip Thermoplastic Denture Adhesive, and if you still liked the way it was working. I am using Fixodent, and it holds okay but I need to reapply at least twice a day cause when I drink bottoms become loose. I am looking for something to use dentist said too soon for reline. BTW you are beautiful.
i just have to say I understand totally how frustrated you feel. I don't want in anyway for this to sound as if I'm undermining what your concern was here. But just I just wanted you to know that in actually looking at you talk naturally the teeth did not look bad. I realize they are changing because of needing relines and having bone loss like I said I don't want to undermine that fact but just fyi they dont look bad. Ure prob more aware of it than people are when looking at you.
Thank you so much for what you are doing here. I have commented before, but again I'll say I'm 39 and am having issues with my teeth. Your videos are SO inspiring and comforting, I just cannot say it enough. And I am so excited for you and proud of you for going to school!!!! I went back too. It's so neat that you are "welcoming the challenges." Can't WAIT to see it all unfold. Please keep your channel going. It is so helpful! God bless you!!! -Donna Lynn.
I'm actually impressed with your alignment. My overbite is so bad that when I bite down, the bottom of my top teeth are almost at the fake gum line! It's made my face look older (beyond how dentures do anyway), everything's collapsed. You look like you still have good length of bottom tooth showing. Wow! Same here re: adhesive not lasting, too. I thought it was just me.
the first 2-3 years after extraction(s) is the fastest period of bone loss...that's why you need the constant relines...then it slows and should even out...u need to beyotch at yer dentist about the crooked look and looseness... you paid for his services so he needs to make it right! he needs to watch this video! lol...ps I get the lip crack corner thing in the winter...and I don't have full dentures yet...it's from dry mouth so keep drinking lotsa water... :)
I've been searching for real-life reactions from people who've gone through extractions and getting dentures for the past week. I've put up with periodontal disease, pain and almost constant infections for the past fifteen years. Your videos have really encouraged me. You're the same age as my daughter, and are going through some of the same life-changing situations. If you can get a good math prof, you might find yourself enjoying math! We're rooting for ya, and wish you the very best.
How long until u were able to eat? I got all 32 teeth removed. And its been a month and a week? So hungry lol i lost 20 pounds witch is the only plus.
@mymightyboosh I've heard of others having problems with whistling and i've heard that has something to do with the bite being slightly off.... you should check out denturesanewsmile.ning.com, i'm sure someone over there could help you with this. Thanks:-)
Great video Kristi! I love how you are always so real :)....Congrats on making the choice to go back to college...it does bring such a high level of personal satisfaction :)...you are so right...love Dr. Davis...I was there this past Monday and Tuesday, for my reline, and he was so determined to make better :) Would love to see a video with you guys :)
I added my 1st video :) Not the greatest because I was using my cell, when I had to rotate the video it caused wierd shaking in parts...even when I tried to take it out it still did it.lol.How do I link u & you can link me :)
Hiya hun, I know you feel that they are loose, but I have to say that you still look amazing. I haven't managed to recover from last extractions, it was an awful experience; my dentures just don't fit at all now, so haven't been able to upload any more video, as I can't wear them & I don't want to be on camera without them, scary! Lol. I will get it sorted out soon. I'm a little unwell with a chest infection, so it'll have to wait until I'm better :( I hope you get it sorted out hun. Sharon. x
@nashrona I'm sorry:-( Well, it sucks right now but at *least* you know it's something that can be corrected so just hang in there, you'll get it taken care of! I hope the worst is at least over for you by now:-) Get well soon!
This is the second day after getting my full upper and lowers, today I went into the denturist and she shaved part of the upper back so it didnt make me gag and what a difference but now i feel its too sharp grrr yeah i know its a process to make sure there a perfect fit and aside from that Im still eating pretty much baby food but boy do I look good d=-D
@souljaLOVE If you go to Walmart and get a really really fine grit sand paper, you could smooth the back down yourself:-) Glad you feel good about them! Only way to go from here is up!
Sorry for all the comments, LOL...I am almost to the end of your video ;) Personal growth is a great reason GOOD FOR YOU =) I hunger for knowledge all the time and wish I could go back, but for personal growth this time (The Arts would end up being the major instead of medicine) Best wishes on your educational endeavors! P.S. Never stop learning ;)
@Christina1980333 Thank you:-) Yeah before I felt pressured into going to school for something that will "make a lot of money" but unfortunately, i'm not interested in any of the careers that make a lot of money LOL. I like writing, art, history- that sort of thing. So as of yet my major is undecided but maybe the councilors will be able to help with that:-)
I also have TMJ dysfunction severely and this is going to pose a problem with fit i'm sure...But, so far, my extractions have went well and I have had hardly ANY swelling amazingly...I have been working alot to pay for all this, but I thought I would stop in and check your vids and see how you were doing ;) Luckily, I found a dentist that works with my husbands insurance and I saved a little before starting the process, but the cost is still massive for our family...I wish you the best KAL!
KAL, I have started my extractions and have my treatment plan for my dentures and my periodontist has talked about putting in a few implants to fix the problem of a bad fit it it comes up, I would talk to someone about this option, it is not as expensive as a full mouth of implants and the dentures "snap" into the implants which usually remedies the problem.
@Christina1980333 This is exactly what I will be looking into getting as soon as I get my other major financial obligations out of the way:-) Hope everything goes well for you!
thanks, you made me feel better. I found you recently so I want to go back to the beginning and hear your whole story. i am going to the dentist on the 16th so if i have any questions i'll yell if you don't mind. Thanks again
i really need your videos. I am disabled and have medicare and medicaid. It does not cover an oral surgeon taking your teeth out at once while your asleep so I have to go to the public aid dentist and one at a time have each tooth pulled. i am terrified. I'm also afraid of having dentures. I have all these scary thoughts in my head about being in public and nasty things happening with my teeth. Your birthday and my sisters in the same day!
@CrimsonBell53 Hey, yeah they won't put you under when you have medicaid but I thought they would at least do multiple extractions at a time? But either way, it's really not that bad. Of the thousands of messages I have gotten about pain management, only VERY few have opted to be put under. I would say a good 85-90% of the people I have spoken to got local anesthesia. I am terrified of pain but it REALLY didn't hurt for me. Message me if you want to talk more about your issues!
Congrats on school... and I am sure these types of chain reactions happen with a lot of people who just got dentures. I know with me 2 weeks after I got mine I went and got new glasses (15 years overdue) and finally decided to get my driving licence (20 years overdue). It is weird, when you have bad teeth you just seem to accept misfortune and going without... and for no good reason.
How long after you FIRST got your dentures did you grt the first reline? Did you get immediate dentures? I had my last reline done almost 3 years ago (6 months after I first got them) I am going for another reline next week. See if you can find a DENTURIST!
@ashandrobie09 I got my first reline @ my two week check-up. They are immediate dentures. The dentist I see specifically deals with tooth extractions, dentures and implants. I'm pretty sure it was just difficult because the teeth are SO LOOSE lol. That's awesome you were able to hold out that long! Wish it was like that for me haha
