Today, I listened to your story at the Fourth annual Roland B. Scott Memorial Symposium. Your story about living with sickle cell disease and your life experiences touched me. I am a parent of a child with SCD and I now realize how important it is for me to advocate for children with this disease. God has given you a wonderful talent. I am blessed by your artwork. Thank you!
Damn.. I feel his pain . i was born with the same thing .. (im not lying like some of you..)
And the doctors and nures dont make it any better, all they do is drug me up with morphine and other narcodics until im to sleepy and drowzy to think about how much pain im going through..they do that every 3 or 4 hours around the clock ... SOME PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BAD THIS CRAP HURTS!!!!!!
Hi. My Name Is Doug And I Have Sickle Cell As Well. I Have Seen Your Art Work Many Times B4 And Was Wondering If It Would Be Possible For You To Design A Tattoo For Me Usin The Sickle Cell Theme

Naz,Once again you have impressed me with your creativity, using your art work in this way is one of the best ideas I've seen in a long time! I recognized many of your paintings about sickle cell as it tells the story suffering in silence! It's time for the silence to be broken, for those of you that live with this disease, use your voice to EDUCATE everyone a round you to help them understand! Thank you Naz for all that you do for the sickle cell community! Take care,Mamoo
I agree with you, there seems to be a spirit of indifference around Sickle Cell. Most people I've been asking for help about this project I'm working on seem so meh apathetic about everything concerning these issues - so discouraging
Its great you want raise awareness of some sort of disease, i think it would be better/interesting to say what it does, what it is etc. and put some music on
Pray for those who have to battle with sickle cell, Its nothing humorous about the problems it causes a persons body, The lost of a loved one, results with simular pains, love 4 the 1's I have lost, thanx
Bone Marrow Transplant is the only know cure, but its not a universal cure because you need a matching donor who is a close sibling. (family member brother or sister) It is very risky so it cannot benefit everyone who struggles with Sickle Cell Disease.
About 1% of people with sickle cell disease meet the criterias for bone marrow transplant. The Risks are too great for the rest of us

Next year (2010) will be 100 years since sickle cell disease was discovered

Maybe we all can do something next year?

Next year should be good. Who got the credit for discovering Sickle Cell in 1910?

Awareness is so needed right now. This disease is devastating, but it's still viewed nonchalantly..and
there is alot of people that don't even know what it is.
