  • you made a grown man cry. cherish what you have.

  • @ytjd3 I agree

  • I can not up load to youtube my movie is 640 by 480 very small 7 minutes long

25 frames . MAGIX 17 PLUS. HELP it keeps failing. GOOD JOB.

Iit takes longer BUT frame your shots and use a tripod and have a story it will make people cry when put together right , put your wife in the shots all together, well done. your daughter is beautiful

  • Do you know how to convert the video file using Pixela?

  • BEAUTIFUL VIDEO AND SONG EVERYTHING IS SO NATURAL AND REAL

  • whats the name of this song

  • Very nice vid. Live life :)

  • omg, what a precious little moments, great video 5/5

  • Could anyone help me out? I got the canon vixia hf s100 and it doesnt show up on my computer. Im using an iMac with 10.6.3(snow leopard) and I have the applications that came with the camera installed. I found the movie files when I used a card reader, but they are in mts and I cant find a converter for mts that wont make the quality terrible. Could anyone help me with a good free converter or how to change the format of the videos? Thanks

  • one of the most beautiful video i've ever seen in my life :) thanks a lot for sharing.

  • Amazed !

  • hello, this video i can describe as one word: beautiful... the quality is amazing, the scenes were touching as well as music and motion. if you have time id like you to see my 2 test videos with the vixia hf200... what i would like to know is what software you use and what setting(export method) you choose to render your finished product as because it looks very crisp, and i think mine looks good but i just want another opinion. also, your camera is better but i have one not far in competition

  • @PeteyVX12

Thanks. I'm glad so many people like it. I really have been meaning to put up lots of new stuff. I have amassed hours and hours of cool looking video since I shot this, but havn't edited any of it yet. Majorly slacking I guess... I rendered this one in Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum in Sony AVC .mp4 (though WMV worked well for me too.) I thought your videos looked alright. Indoor video quality never comes out as well as outdoor videos in my opinion though.

  • @TheCouchCrusader thanks i use vegas pro 8 and ill def use that export method.... and the 2 videos i meant for you to watch are called canon vixia hf200 scenery tests 1 and 2.... i think they look good

  • Funny thing is I enjoyed this video so much that my girlfriend and I watched it all over again today.

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to more vids!

  • Wow! I guess you really did like it a lot! : ) Well I'm glad it touched you in some small way.

  • hey, ive been looking at this camera for a while now because my sony dcr-sr42 wont sync with my imovie and i cant upload any videos or any audio. would you happen to know if canons have a good relationship with imovie? thanks alot, i appreciate it.

  • Well I shoot to SD card and have never actually hooked my camera to the computer, and I also use windows, so idk. I do know that the AVCHD .m2ts format is not real widely excepted yet, but it is an excelent and increasingly prevelant digital video format. According to apple's site, iMovie '08 will support it, but requires "a mac with an intel based core duo processer or better." Hope that helps in some way.

  • thankyou, this was a huge help!

  • @straightoutadawood dude, i would recommend not using imovie considering the lower rendering quality. it would be a waste to buy a camera this nice and not use a better program.

  • the castle was extra blue that day (:

  • I bought this camera 2 weeks ago, I love it!

  • Excellent video. I don't normally watch 10 minute videos but I felt compelled to enjoy it all.

Great job and thanks for sharing!

  • @appl2noe

Glad you liked it. Yeah I always wonder if people watch the whole thing. It tells me how many people watch my videos, but not if they watch the whole thing so I always wonder. Thanks for subscribing. I've been shooting some interesting stuff lately, but havn't edited any of it. Kinda slacking. Hopefully my future vids won't disappoint.

  • I just ordered this camera tonight, should get it weds. can't wait. Nice video, it made my eyes watery, lol.

  • @transformed1001

Thanks, glad it moved you : )

  • i knew one of them had to be Sigur Ros.

  • what band is this?

  • "All Alright" by Sigur Rós

"A dream for us" by "The Appleseed Cast".

  • man this video is really deep.

  • Your camera was the hf s100, which should have the same quality as the hf s10 right? Im thinking about buying the s10.

  • check out the canon website and the vixia hf s20 better and cheaper.

  • What song is it by Sigur Rós ?

    Really nice vid btw.

  • The song is called "All alright"

  • Awesome cut precious "lil diva" ;) ,but the music dosen't fit Its 2 slow & depressin 4 such Beautiful & exciting memories with u & your daughter.I luv 2 see a dedicated father she will cherish this 4ever & respect you 4 all u do...keep It up DaD!! :)

  • cool video, very touchy with the music choice and your editing wasn't bad either. I liked how you switched back and forth between the scenery and your daughter. Always good to have "B-Roll".

I really want to get this camera but am still looking for more low light conditions. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks. Glad you liked it. I never figured anyone would notice the little things like cuts alternating between subject and scenery. It's nice to know the little details don't go completely un-noticed. As for low light, I wish I had a good example handy, but I personally have been real happy with it's performance. It gives you the options for 6, 12 and 18 gain. I usually shoot gain off and do fine in dim rooms. Occasionally I'll go to +6 gain and can see no noise, past that is (continued)

  • a little noisy, but not just terrible. But enough that I would rather stick to 6 and under. I'm sure switching over to manual control of the shutter would help also, but I've personally never needed to. So far, I've never had a situation that I wanted to record something, but was unable to because it was too dark for the camera. Anyway, that's been my experience, for what it's worth. Hope it's at least a little bit helpful.

  • thankyou..i will give the trial a try. It has been so frustrating trying to edit my video! have you tried burning to a dvd? does it work fine? thanks

  • Got your PM. I have not tried burning a dvd, it does however come with a suite called dvd architect for burning dvd movies with menus. Havn't tried it though. so idk how well it works. No real problems with vegas, runs quickly and error free. I have a 2 year old quad-core q6600 with 3 gigs of ram. Not cutting edge, but handlesvegas and hd video just fine.

  • great video! i have this camera and need a video editing software. what did you use? i bought adobe premeire elements 8, but it is no good!

  • Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 I paid like $80 to download it off Sony's site, but I think you can get it off ebay for like $50 now. There's a 30 day free trial on sony's website, give it a try. I like it a lot. Easy workflow like windows movie maker, but some nicer features.

  • Awesome video, touchy indeed. 20 years later when your daughter watches the video she will relive the moments. Too goood.

  • Thank you. I sincerely hope so. Merry Christmas! : )

  • is the music Sigur Ros?

  • yes

  • Beautifully done. I've got a 4 year old girl and would love to put something like this together, especially with the music...I admit my eyes got a bit watery at times (thats all I'll admit too LOL). I'm in the market for my first camcorder and have narrowed it down to 3 models. I think this video just helped make my decision...thanks!

  • I'm really glad you liked it. My daughter watches this (and some of our other home movies I've taken of her) over and over and over. I love watching her reactions when she watches our home videos. Priceless. Yeah I really like the camera a lot. Canon just makes really amazing and capable cameras, both photo and video. If you get an HF S100, I promise you'll love it.

  • Overall it's good. Cute little girl.

The only thing I would change is the constant shaky video. Maybe you didn't intend to make a 'cinema' style shoot and edit.

Don't worry about perfection because your little girl will love it one day...simply because her dad made this video! Enjoy fatherhood!

    Take care

  • Thanks. Yeah, I didn't intend for it to be rock steady, but there were parts that were too shakey for me too. But I didn't have a tripod and a lot of it was just run and gun shots of interesting things while we were playing. Ideally, I would have liked a guerilla shooting look, similar to 24 or something, just a little bit of movement to keep it interesting. Just a little tricky to do sometimes. Thanks for checking it out though.

  • Awesome video and music! LOVED it :)

  • THANKS! : )

  • Very good video!! great music, congratulations!!

  • Thank you.

  • Wow! That is an amazing video. You are very talented. Best of luck.

  • Thanks! : )

  • Nvm mind read the info on it. this is great no adapters!

  • Yeah, I really thought I was going to need a dof adapter too when I bought this camera, but I am extremely happy with the dof range right out of the camera. Pretty good looking footage out of a camera that's small and light enough to carry in my pocket. I hope you end up getting it. I've kinda regretted some big purchases in my life, but this camera absolutely is not one of them.

  • This is nice footage, did you use a dof adapter? It looks like your using one, Im just wondering cause Im having a lil baby girl and im thinkin about getting the s100 camcorder. I was gonna get an adapter but if the quality is this good that would save me money! Thanks

  • Nope, no adapter, no effects.

  • what was the first piece of music?

  • "All Alright" by Sigur Rós

  • years down the road you could look at this and get exactly the same feelings as you did now. digital allows perfect archival quality that will never degrade from copy to copy. i wish they had these when i was a kid because my childhood vhs tapes are rubbish. if future generations or aliens viewed this video, it would really show the beauty of humanity. fitting how the poster's avatar is the symbol for the alien or "prawn" from the movie district 9. which is a GREAT movie BTW.

  • You are so right about how amazing the new technology is. I laugh now at what my father used to lug around for our home movies and vacations. Two full size (VCR size) recording units in a bag with cables running to a big shoulder held camera. He used to do credits by writing on a car window and slowly rolling it up : ) Unfortunately a lot of the video of my childhood has severly degraded on those VHS tapes. Now people can just burn it to a disc or keep it on a drive. Perfect forever.

  • beautiful man, just beautiful. the first minute or so really made an impact on me. the quality of these new HD cams is just phenomenal and i think the quality itself really lets the filmmaker convey the emotion he/she is attempting to generate for the viewer in a manner that is much more effective than any previous technology could. looking back on my vhs tapes from when i was a kid, with the shoulder-mounted giant cams, this just blows that away and makes for a much bigger impact.

  • Is it just you two?

    Also, nice video : )

  • Yep! Just us : )

  • Wow, well, best wishes for both of you :D

  • very touching! i just ordered my hf s100 and have yet to really film something, but this video definitely keeps me motivated!

  • Yep, it really is a little motivational to know that your camera really could capture some professional looking video if you wanted to. These HFS100's definately will. Makes me want to get out and make a short film or something. One of these days.....

  • Beautiful vacation! You've got some great footage. Maybe you can invite me next year? I love the Vixias.

  • Thanks! Hopefully one of these days I can just move down there. Very beautiful area. And yes, the newest generation of canon vixia's are just fantastic. Well worth the money.

  • man, this would make the hardest of men cry... bravo !!! ;o)

  • Thank you. It turned out slightly more emotional than I imagined it would (to me anyway) but also better than I hoped for. Funny how much of an impact music selection can have. I love your musical choices on several of your videos btw. Stuff I've never heard, but absolutely love. Sets the entire mood sometimes and can make an average video timeless.

  • Great video, composition, editing, and choice of music! I've been on the fence about the S10 (no S100s in my area and I'm too impatient to order one), but it's time to take the plunge and retire my HV20. Thanks for the vid!

  • Thanks. Glad you liked it. Just fyi, if you are able to muster up a little bit of patience to order online, you will save you between $200 to $300 by going with the S100. Either would be an excelent choice, I opted for the 100 though because the money was worth more to me than a 3 day wait.

  • Great video man! You captured some really good footage. I have the same camera but the S10 w/ built in memory. I suggest you turn the grid on the view finder. It helps keep the camera level especially the long pan shots of the horizon. Thanks for posting and good look with the rest of the vid.

  • the shot from 7:01 to 7:10 is money. You've got her running to the camera, so sometimes a backwards run is difficult to pull off, plus youve got her facial reaction with the water creeping up to her feet not to mention the 'shake' which is bringing you more into the actual feeling of the moment. Nice 1 =]

Also since this is the HF S100 is this 24p with a pulldown? and does the S100 have a slo motion mode? Thanks

  • Thanks! Glad you like it. All of this was shot in 60i and deinterlaced. Nothing was pulled down. I shot a little bit of stuff in 24p just for my own experiment/comparison, but when I looked at it, I just really liked the 60 frames better, on this project anyway, I really figured I'd liked the 24p better, but not on this one. I mainly shot in 60i because I figured there would be a lot of stuff I wanted to slow down (which there is) No slow motion mode on the camera unfortunately. : (

  • yeah, thats the tricky part...if you wanted to shoot 24p but still do slow motion...youd have to be pretty quick on the menu to switch modes...lol or do like you did and just stick with 60i

  • You have a gift my friend...I have been looking for this kind of production for a while now! Near the beginning with you and your daughter laying down together...priceless, just pure emotion. I could only have wished that my parents could've done something like this for me...she's gonna remember this!

Picture looks stunning! Music selection was spot on...who was the 2nd song BTW!?! It's crazy I stumbled across this stuff just at you put it up.

Can't wait for more! Take Care...

  • Thank you so much. I'm just thrilled that people who see it say they like it. I really hope the final project will end up being something very special. The second song is called "A dream for us" by "The Appleseed Cast". Thanks again.
