  • Didn't see a coon hound one all I saw was prissy show dogs that's a disgrace to coon hunters my dogs r slickd up and look jus as good but the only pic ull see of them is on a tree

  • Raccoon dog vs dog. See my channel.

  • I miss my German He was Begal mix but mostly German and every once in a while the begal bowel would come out and embarrass him he would look around and make sure no one heard him he was fine if he saw me he would run under my pickup.I wasnt doing anything to discourage it .It was too funny and I could have made a pant load on AFV and put it on YT

  • quero comprar um filhote dessa raça meu telefone é 3598606866

  • This is murder!!! might as well sen them to fucking Iraq training camps! Raccons have so many diseases an you're going to give your dog all them...

  • @physicsandpoetry

they make shots for that, its not torture,if the dogs didnt wanna do it they wouldn.they are born and bred to.

  • @physicsandpoetry Get over your self .Coon dogs hunt search its in them to track .I didnt hunt with mine ole Blu but it would have been beautiful to see .He died old happy and in my arms just where he belonged .Yes I am a Hillbilly redneck of sorts but it was his life and mine and I will see him on the other side .Chasing rabbits squirrels and his buddie Bob the bob tailed cat

  • @physicsandpoetry The raccoons in competitions are checked for their health before exposing the dogs to them. Hunting wild raccoons is like hunting any wild animal. Of course there is a risk of disease but not as likely as you might think. Additionally, with coon dogs, the objective usually is to tree the animal, not kill it. The hunter kills the animal.

  • how easy is it to retrain or train an older dog? i found a little beagle/walker on the side of the road.. obviously been there a while because she's thin as a whip. i can only guess that she could have been a deer hound, or maybe coon dog, or maybe a bay dog for hog hunters(her tails been docked too)

i wouldnt mind her just becoming a couch potato, except every time she sees a truck, she runs to the fence, tail wagging, and whimpers when they keep driving. she WANTS to work :/

  • @RADDXSTEEZY Be sure to start training them asap! As with all hounds: their nose is their brain. If you don't teach them to listen to you as well as their nose there's going to be obedience problems. You also have to keep training interesting because they're a dog to get bored easy. All in all, they're a wonderful, funny, loving, dog and one of my favorite breeds.

  • How many different types of hound dogs arw there? And whats the difference between blood hounds n coon hounds

  • @RADDxSTEEZY There are many different types of hounds. If you go to AKC.org, you can pull up a list of hounds. Just a "hound" covers a wide veriety of dogs, though there are subcategories of hounds. These are Sighthounds and Scenthounds. Sighthounds are the leaner dogs, like Greyhounds. Dogs like bloodhounds are considered scenthounds. The scenthounds have a bigger body and a low droopy ear set.

  • @DarkRose357 Thanks for your help i reallu wasnt sire what kind of hound to get umtil u explained it for me

  • @RADDxSTEEZY Now a bloodhound is a tracking dog. The are simply meant to track their prey, having a higher sense of ability to catch up to their prey after their trails are supposed to go stale (Mythbusters even proved how well bloodhounds do their jobs). Coonhounds are trained to tree a coon and keep them there until the hunter shows up and kills it. Both are VERY good at their jobs and do it very well. Both use their sense of smell more than sight where sighthounds use sight.

  • @DarkRose357 Oh i see bloodhounds look the best to me im getting 2 pups in about a week im going to use them for hunting

  • Coonhounds of any breed are the best all around dogs. Healthy, hearty, strong dogs. with great attitudes. My Walker is a cool dude.

  • @ivegotamagicstix We adopted a pathetic little hound dog from the animal shelter in December. We could count every vertebrae in her back & every rib in her chest--she was soooo thin. She had been at the shelter for 6-8 weeks. Her front legs also looked as if they were deformed at the shoulders & ankles. She has now become one of the most beautiful dogs we have ever owned!! But she is also a handful. What do you do to keep your dog from tearing up your house & your yard?

  • @mdlondon1951 you gotta let ur hound run... they're made to run... keepin em cooped up is almost like torture to a coonhound

  • @mdlondon1951 Make sure she will come to your voice and then let her run .A running hound is a happy hound .If you have two make it a game for them and train them to find each other

  • @truckdawg43 Thanks for the advice! She does turn her head & look at me &sometimes will come if she's not sniffing something "delightful?". Although we live in a small town, we do have a large backyard with a tall brick wall around it. So, I'll practice there with her. Problem is we have a shitzu that goes completely deaf when he gets out the front door, & if she follows him out the front door she goes deaf, too, & is only intent on keeping up with him. He does eventually come home, but her???

  • @mdlondon1951 We had a redbone until this past fall when she unfortunately passed away and she had separation anxiety. I'm not sure if that is common with hounds but if your dog is tearing up things when you leave, that might be part of the problem. To keep her from destroying things (and there were times that she would shred a box of pop cans and pop them open with her teeth, soup cans, too) we crate trained her.

  • @awkwardperspective She tears up things when I'm gone & when I'm at home!! I like the idea of the crate training. Did you put her in the kennel when she did something bad & how long did you make her stay there? My dog knows when she does something wrong, but can't seem to help herself. I have to remind myself that although she's huge, she is still a puppy &, hopefully, will soon learn & stop being so naughty.

  • @mdlondon1951 When she tore things up she went in the kennel, yes, and for barking. She was really bad about barking when we were eating when we first got her; she'd sit there and bark the whole twenty minutes it took us to have a meal. When she was in for tearing things up, though, she was normally in for like, fifteen minutes or so. I'm sure learn your puppy will learn. Most hound breeds that I've known are very enthusiastic to please and tend to pick up on things so long as they are happy.

  • @awkwardperspective Thanks for the info. Did you have to drag the dog into the kennel & close the door? When I took my hound out of the truck yesterday, she tried to run after my Shitzu who was chasing a cat & ended up dragging me across the lawn until I fell down--I'm glad I didn't let go of the leash! She also barks incessantly at the Shitzu! Must be a hound thing with the barking, can't get her to shut up when she gets started. I feed the my dogs before we eat, so no dilemma there.

  • @mdlondon1951 Ha, at first we had to nudge her into the kennel, but after awhile, we had her trained so that when we said "go to your pen" she'd listen. Part of the trick to kennel training is that it's a time-out device and also supposed to be like the dog's little private den. When the dog isn't in trouble, the door should be left open so that s/he can go in freely. Was the Shitzu off leash when s/he was chasing the cat? Poor kitty probably had no idea what was going on.

  • Coon huntin and soft autotune songs. Goes toghether like malt liquor and caviar! What part showed anything for training a coonhound? It looked like a bunch a photos of show dogs. poor vid!

  • i got me a 1/2 treeing walker and 1/2 plotthound. i have to admit i was hesitant about hounds but he is the sweetest most loyal dog i've ever had.
