@anthonyblistex This recording was made so long ago that this girl is about 30 years old now. So I don't think there is too much issue about a little girl being traumatized by the film.
It's funny - I've seen the piece in front of numerous children of many ages - many of them as young as the singer was when she sang this version. Parents freak out pretty consistently, but the kids seem to "get it" really easily. I've never seen one get more than just a bit sad.
Everything about this is perfect. The tiny little planet with so little on it. The running that turns the tiny little planet, while she makes no real progress. The way the tree appears from nowhere, as if she created it from her thoughts. The hiccups she can't shake--how one's body/mind can become alien. The song that seems to be her touchstone, rubbed smooth and familiar. The sudden silence. The cat she left behind.

I find it amusing how offended people become when they watch this, it is art, and obviously the creator of the video made it the way it is for a reason.

I sometimes think that the rabbit is singing out of some hope that suicide will free her from the loneliness of this tiny, far flung planet into a better world beyond death.
I have always loved this Negativland track from "Escape from Noise." When I see what Naked Rabbit has done to it I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It brings up a raw, undifferentiated emotional response. Many years ago someone I knew strung himself up from a tree just like that. Life is interesting. Funny and sad at the same time.

Very good stuff. I think that those who think it sick or disturbing have never stepped close enough to the abyss to see the infinite depths or hear the howling winds. There is a lot to say here that cannot be said in just a few words. The vid, with it's thousands of pictures with a thousand words says it so much more eloquently - sadness, regret, irony, frustration... sadness.
