In 1950 there were no satellites and NASA had not been created but we DID have astronomical telescopes. Good ones, too. But when people extrapolated from those telescopic pictures of the moon to the moon close up, they were wrong. And the depiction in a movie like Destination Moon is quite *different* from that in the Apollo pictures.
And the Apollo spacecraft and astronauts looked vastly different from the movie too.
At 1:39, we see four craters in somewhat of a line, just about tangent to the upper rim of the crater. These craters do not appear in more modern photos of Tycho.
At 1:57, we see a crater on the lower right edge of Tycho which is about the same size at the central peak. There is no modern photo showing this crater.
So much for the accuracy of these images.
Apollo ascent and descent films, however, show small details which weren't confirmed until LRO, almost 40 years later.
The film Destination Moon just shows that in 1950 they already were able to film this remarkable moon shots. We can be sure they are done in a studio, does that mean the moon landing was a hoax? No it does not astrobrant2 but it makes people doubt if NASA could had used the same trickery 20 years later. We just doubt Apollo put a man on the moon.
1:46 through 1:54 show paintings which were created by Chesley Bonestell. Then starting at 1:56 the movie shows simulated lunar terrain which in reality does not have anywhere near the shown amount of surface roughness. The simulated terrain appears to be concrete which was dumped atop of dirt, whetted down and left to dry, and then photographed from above at night using a floodlight for illumination.
1:56 we think it is due to the light source that must simulating the sun. Remember 1950 the cameras where not as well develped as in 1969 or 1968 in that matter. The shadows can be due to the level of the terrain. When they could do this in 1950 we can say beyond doubt that they would be able to do this in 1968 and beyond. We just like to show that it could be possible to have faked some parts of the Apollo mission.
1:12 The moon paintings, one of which is seen through the window, were created by the famous astronomical artist Chesley Bonestell. Another of Bonestell's paintings is seen at 1:40, yet note the error of the floor of the large crater at the bottom of the scene being completely in shadow whereas the floors of all other surrounding craters are bathed in sunlight.
We did just point out the similarity of Destination moon and the Apollo project. It showws beyond the doubt that is would be possible to make this Apollo moon shots from moon orbit to moon landing in a studio. 1:40 Maybe the crater was to be very deep or it is on unleveled terrain that would solve the problem. Do you think like many pro Apollo people that the film and photo material is altered/airbrushed?
@awe130 no problem actually the correct spelling is "tycho crater",(my mistake) its the most interesting part of the moon, & to have it in such detail at every elevation in 1950 brings this one home to bed. Great investigation work, love it...
This film was brought to our attention by a film freak from the UK. The whisper has supporter all over the world. We will not insult or ridicule others for there beliefs, we just doubt Apollo put a man on the moon. This film confirms the AwE130 doubt.
@awe130 I don't care what we use. Let's discuss details where they belong, on my debate video, where I brought this up on that thread, but you didn't respond. I'll go back and make an announcement.
@Astrobrant2 Why on your video? Are you do desperate for views? Why not here? As far as I know AWE doesn't block people with a different opinion, unlike you.
@gijsshu Because that's where the debate has been taking place. I made the video to answer his challenge to a debate. That's where discussion takes place, so everybody can see what's going on. But as a hoax nut, you *are* prone to shoot your mouth off before you know ANYTHING about a subject.
What people do you think are blocked on my channel?
thanks for the crater name Tycho, that is the one that even looks more like it. We will release an update to mention this crater plus an email to NASA.
Also we have informed the AwE130 team to keep searching for this material everybody forgot about. This is just the tip of the AwE30 iceberg.
That nails it for me, I can't believe how real tyco crater looks?, 1950, ??? What a gem of a find, no different to my NASA plaster of Paris images found on my head channel, the whisper is louder thanks awe.
The film is from 1950, and it shows how they were able to make excellent shots of the moon in a studio. Also the facts given in this film are overall correct. Remember NASA did not exist when this film was made. Also the crater during land show remarkable similarity with other crater on the moon.
You're right. The views out of the windows are not that difficult to fake. But the fact it looks good in the movie doesn't mean NASA has to answer how the filmmakers managed to create the effect. I do have my doubts if it was possible to develop the program in 10 years. But till now I have no real indications they couldn't.
And tell the others I do NOT work for the CIA. I wish I was! Then I get to wear a black suit and a gun.
You are right it is still a whisper. But if NASA does not answer some questions the whisper will getting louder and become a murmur and beyond. Just recently NASA had to admite that the athmosphere on the moon is more dense and that water is found all over the moon. The people that doubt Apollo, do know that time is running out for NASA.
We do not care how or what you are aslong as you are honest to yourself.

As with Kubrick's 2001, Destination Moon shows us how impossible it would be, to accurately fake a Moon landing - thanks for posting it.

The movie is not realistic. The spacecraft has a bunk bed. That's unrealistic. In a weightless environment you would not be able to tell who's on top!
