  • ...is this 4/4 time???????

  • Great bass line!!! Great bass!! I have to learn this for a wedding in the morning. You saved the day for me. Great playing my brother!!!

  • @lowendthud Good luck!

  • I'm sure there are ghost notes you should be using.

  • Very good. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy excellent bass playing and this is GREAT!!! I really enjoyed it, and so did my bass player, I. O. Much. Thank you for posting!!!

  • Thx rich...i'm trying to copy by ear...having a hard time. I guess u love the bassline so much, same.

  • what is its bass tabs?

  • Did anyone find tab on this bassline???????

  • @braymo17 learn it by ear.

  • Thanks for the great bass playing! Do you know if anyone has cut "s" holes in such a hollow body electric bass? Might sound pretty cool too. I like the walking you did in the video, great bounce to it!

  • my boyfriend has the same greco violin bass guitar. you play great!

  • this is actually a Hofner bass, it's a 2001 version of the old one that McCartney uses.

  • As good as a singer is, they need a good musician. You Go Boy..

  • if I can make a suggestion (though you did a great job) is that Carol used her palm to mute the strings to a thump/click sound. at any rate you hit this on the money in terms of the actual lines!

  • Not bad! A little more swing to it and you've got it.

BTW I think Carol was playing bass as well.

It was a n Al Capps arrangement so there is a good chance Carol was on the date.

    Good job!

  • Sounds like Carol, but I have to say the guy miming in the Spiral Starecase vid seems thoroughly at home with it. And he's the grooviest dancer I ever saw with a bass!!

  • YOu've got Carol's picking technique. Just gotta work on your time...make it swing!

  • but i have these tiny hands

  • nice job, good playing......GREAT song selection!!! Keep it up man, I'm a drummer not a bassist....but it sounds great to me!

  • what kind of bass pick are you using i like the tone

  • very nice...thanks for posting

  • thanks man!!! your vid really helped me a lot!!!

  • I believe that's Paul McCartney sitting on youtube and playing this cool bass line :)

  • Awesome job!! This song is truly amazingly beautiful!

  • Great job! I really dig this song too. Good stuff.

  • Nice Beatle bass! They play great, don't they?

  • Yes, I love this bass its one of my favs!

  • Is this a Carol Kaye bassline? Without giving me a super long list, what other basslines has she written for sessions?

  • This is a very very short list, Carol played either guitar or bass on many artists recordings like the Beach Boys, Ray Charles, The Righteous Bros., Johnny Mathis, Nancy Sinatra, Sam Cooke, Glen Campbell, Lou Rawls, Jan & Dean, Henry Mancini, The Lettermen, Monkees, Buckinghams, Sonny & Cher, Andy Williams, Quincy Jones, Joe Cocker, Frank Zappa, Wayne Newton, Herb Alpert, Hamilton Joe, Frank and Reynolds, Phil Spector, The Doors, Jimi Hendrex, Elvis, Sinatra, Grass Roots and a few Motown (LA).

  • Great job! You're right in your description of her gear. I've also heard her credit her "sound" to high string action and a piece of felt under the bridge.

Can you do her classic "Games People Play"? she did for Mel Torme?

  • She's done thousands of great bass lines, I've seen her play in person many times and she's about 1000 levels better then I can ever play. God Bless her. I'll have to really think about which one I'd try next.

  • this one's cool :D

can you give me the tabs please?:)

  • Thank you for the compliment, I don't use tabs, so I don't have them to give.

  • Thats my dads band! :DDDD i was laughing amazed when i saw how popular this song was!

  • I highly recommend getting the German version like this one.

  • the rickenbacker bass sounds great to that mccartney used but the hofner bass just had that extra something apparantly mccartney gave up recording with the hofner because of tuning problems up the neck but they fixed it up in 89 i think, by putting the bridge on a very accute angle it held the tunning i am looking to buy a hofner this year sometime not sure to get the chineese ones or the real deal i will probally get the real deal on that is made in germany

  • the newer Chinese made basses are also pretty good. I have the Contemporary and Icon models...the Icon actually sound slightly a bit more like it's older German brother and it goes for about 300-400 dollars.

I of course have a real German model from '82, that one has the deepest and warmest sound, though.

  • WOW mate thats suprising flats normally sound dead but thats got heaps of tone have you tried round wounds on it

    cheers andy

  • no, I've never had to put any other strings on this Bass, once you play one you'll realize how powerful these basses are, no wonder McCartney's used one his whole life.

  • hi mate what sort of strings are u using on the hofner flatwound or roundwound

    cheers-Andy

  • Those are flatwound that came with this Hofner Bass and they really sound great, I'm just running that bass through a monitor speaker... you should hear it when I plug it into my Mesa Boogie walk about amp, it's unbelievable and powerful. hope you liked this video.

  • Great Job!

  • cool!!!
