My point was that certain guitars need to be demo’d in a genre that showcases the tonal attributes of the instrument—show WHY a ‘56 Black Beauty goes for $40,000. Any kid can play China Grove on a Carlo Robwhotheheckishe guitar with distortion…you don’t need a masterpiece. It’s the difference between a quickie in the back seat of a VW bug, and the kind of 8-day trantic love making session that Sting and his wife are famous for.

Sadly, I don't have a '56, but I do have a '69 that I bought brand new. I had it redone (neck, frets, bridge & tail) by Joey Jesselli (back before he moved to West Virginia and he was still in Huntington), and it was autographed by Les Paul 13 years before he died. Joey doesn’t particularly like painted guitars, or mass produced guitars for that matter, but he did say I had a winner—probably because it was a special order, and Les liked what Joey had done to it.

@ryan06105 I guarantee you that I can tell a fender tele from a Les Paul on these videos any time. Also I can tell a P-90 pickup from a humbucker or a coil. Sounds like you just have the case of the "jealousies." Your fingers may provide a different pitch. But the guitar and amp are the driving force behind the tone.
