  • thanks a ton for uploading this! :)

  • I vaguely remembered this piece of film. At the time I didn't appreciate it though having seen it again I thought that it was a brilliant piece which deserves high praise! (lol - pun not intended but still quiet funny). Both the script writing and the excellent cast of characters who played there parts superbly deserve full credit including Charlote (RIP) and Geraldine... Many thanks for the post...Well worth the effort..

  • Happy, sad, depressing, funny & beautiful.

    Brilliantly written, cast & produced.

Thanks kokikokia for a superb upload.

  • "Living in sin with his pompadour",bwahaha.

  • Such an amazing music!!!

  • If they are such devote christians, then WHY is he wearing a "Father Christmas/Santa Claus" suit?

  • Thats Geraldine McEwan, the same actress who plays Sister Bridget in The Magdalene Sisters.

  • @zildjianzone Yes!!!! And also played Miss Marple on the BBC!!!!

  • @basiacomeout Of course, I have to admit shes quite good at playing scary women lol

  • 1:32 OH santa's pissed

  • I used to watch this in the Birmingham Library when I gave up gambling. They also had Godfather, Les Enfants du Paradias, Taxi Driver ( briefly ) Unforgiven, Fargo which I'd watch if 1 hour 30 mins. It's not the same trying to watch it on 5th floor surrounded by 50 people on internet. It's better in the booth without distractions. I watched a few other things with Charlotte Coleman, but I think she had all great supporting cast and could not find anything as good.

  • The dog is dead... : ( I liked that little dog.

  • I really liked this drama... I think i might see if i can find it on DVD =)

But the only thing is, I dont feel that it actually went anywhere... =\ But i like it all the same. Thanks for uploading it =D

  • such a shame charlotte died so young

  • Wow this series was brilliant. Man I hated that pastor. Did anyone else see how he tried to kiss her cheek at the end and she turned away from him? hehehe Yes!

Class series this I liked them all. Ste BSc.

  • brilliant.

  • Excellent Drama.

    thanks.

  • It would of been better if she had found someone at the end, and found some kind of happiness, but shes damaged due to her upbringing, and its sad, especially as the girl died in real life, but i think we were all on her side.

    Memorable adaptation though.

  • @j0andc0

This is more or less the story of the author (Jeanette Winterson's life). She went to Oxford and then went on to become a celebrated author. She had a pretty happy ending... even the "damaged" can you know.

  • Great adaptation! So many strong moments!

  • was this it??

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • thank you

    FROM ITALY

  • Ah! This was a great movie. Now I want to check out the book after reading these comments.

  • Would you like a Royal Scot? LOL.

  • lmao! would you likea party pie?

  • Great adaptation. Thanks for sharing.

  • how come her mother likes her again all of a sudden?

  • I don't think Jess's mother ever "disliked" her. It was the mother's idea of Jess's "sin" that the mother disliked. I suppose seeing that Jess thrived after being cast out of the family and the church softened her feelings towards Jess. I first saw this when it aired on basic cable. I don't remember the movie being so miserable yet I sensed it was important. At least it ends on a note of hope that Jess will have the life she wants, based on religion or not.

  • Her mum had a real weird accent! As narrow minded as her mum was, you could still see how much she loved her daughter. Brilliant film, definitley did the book justice.

  • Lancashire accent weird???

  • @permissiontorock1 you should watch her mother (Geraldine McEwan) as Lucia in EF Bensons Mapp and Lucia - classic

  • Yes, thanks for posting this, regardless of the missing bits!

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Enjoyed it very much, and it is a great pleasure and very touching to see a great performance of wonderful, talented Charlotte Coleman who left us so tragically and early.

(I think part 2-6 is missing?)

    Thanks again, best wishes!

  • i think that she went to oxford .. and that they gave up on her and let her be ... dunno thats what i think ...

  • so.... did they accept her for who she is? i hope so, cause people should be who they are and nothing more, and if people cant accept that, then they are the ones with the problem. thanks for the movie, very moving

  • they accepted her in the book, although this ending is a bit ambiguous

  • @ToucheStudios

Actually, they didn't really accept her. Jeanette W hardly ever saw her parents again, and even now, after her mum's death, she still calls her "Mrs Winterson" instead of "mum"

  • ...well sort of

  • living in SIN with his Pompadour!!!!! LOL

  • Thank you so much for uploading this, again! It's such a great movie.
