  • Level 2 isn't JUST the pirate boat is it?

  • @whoohaaXL

In the Game Gear version, they removed the original level 2 and replaced it with you arriving at the amusement park. Levels 2 and 3 are actually just level 3 from the Sega Genesis version, plus a couple extra sections added in the Game Gear. There was a lot of content cut from the port, not to mention Skate and especially Blaze suck due to their throws doing not much more damage than punches (and Blaze's blitz is pure garbage now).

  • This version sucks, Mega Drive's is a lot better of course. But the special attack was cool!

  • I'm now more interested in playing Streets of Rage for Game Gear!

  • What are the differences between the GG and the SMS?

  • @MakotoTsuguri

They're listed at Streets of Rage Online; both have exclusive levels to their ports, the GG's a bit better overall though due to the inclusion of multiplayer and better graphics (the GG had a bigger palette than SMS, hence better color quality). The special attacks in GG are basically a throwback to the police specials, but it's certainly possible to beat the game without using them.

  • The music sounds like crap.. What a shame for the GG.

    But at least it's SoR.

  • @TheEscapedBalloon

The soundtrack is actually very good considering the limitations of the GameGear. The problem is this video stutters, so the sound is not as accurate as what you would hear when playing it on an emulator.

  • oh my god the memories this just brought back ...

  • Lmao it's funny looking back at games like game boy and game gear because back then I though those was the best grapics ever lol

  • WTF Was that at 0:34 ?

  • Thats a new special added to Axel's arsenal for the Game Gear version. Its quite powerful.

  • The only reason to play this game.

  • @PivotMugen how have i missed this game... too bad my game gear broke. but yea i think u hold a or b button after a charge it'll do that move

  • i loved this game!

  • The Gamegear is capable of doing better then this. They could have taken better advantage of the hardware. It's still an ok game but I think they were a bit lazy porting it.

  • The songs sound nothing like them haha omg. I remember i had SOR1 on Gamegear.

I remember it had a Milk powerup and a cigarette, whats up with that lol

  • Yeah the music sounds a bit goofy, but its not bad imo.

I haven't tried SOR1 for the GG, but I might soon. (A cigarette as a power up? Thats odd heh)

  • sega :D

  • I played the first game on Game Gear and it was also clunky...

  • This is way better than the Game Gear version of Double Dragon.

  • lol wow the game gear.

  • I would have to agree with you, but from what I see the game itself does not look too bad. I would not mind trying this game out at least once.

  • Oh no, this version (Game Gear) is great, the SMS version is clunky.

But anyhow, any Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle fan should definitely try these out.

  • @ChoujinStrife This does look a lot like the SMS version.

  • Heh, I thought they only made a Game Gear version of the first BK/SOR game

  • Yep theres one for 2.

Theres also a Sega Master System version for SOR/BK 1 & 2. I've only played the one for 2 and I thought it was very clunky, but I guess worth trying for the replacement levels.
