I lol'd at 0:48. That's a picture showing what a spine looks like when it's afflicted with scoliosis. The curvy one is severe scoliosis, before any kind of treatment, and the straightened one is demonstrating treatment where they surgically place a metal ROD in your back. They don't realize that a lot of the videos are caught with high speed cameras. I mean, sure, lots of times it'll just be a moth or sumthin' but it's too big. It is a moth or other bug moving too fast for the human eye and a normal camera to see it as it actually is, because of relativity. The light is bouncing off of the moth too fast, and your eye, like cameras, sees images as multiple stills, which is like a camera's slow shutter speed, making a rod image when the bug is close enough to your face or camera.

The insects are moving fast and too close to the camera. This causes the image to blur. You can try it yourself, just take a picture with a slow shutter speed, which causes objects that are moving to blur.

Some rods are completely, obviously insects or camera errors. But I find a few images and clips to be rather questionable. Chinese cave rod, anyone? That one is just plain strange to me. Also, there seems to be two types of rods. Some with complete membranes, but some have very small, stubby, not at all membrane-like wings. It's these two distinct differences in rods that are a bit strange.

The "odd number", again, is due to distortion, as is the speed. The special I saw detailed the whole thing. Then, they re-created the conditions and re-created "rods", exactly. Notice a few of the shots in the video are taken at dusk? This is a key time.

And, it is a modern occurence, as a result of the new techonology with cameras.
