  • My husband was a favorite high school teacher to many kids and this is one of the reasons. Each hour as kids started coming in for class, he would put Glen Campbell's recording of "Today is Mine" on - an attitude lesson of sorts. What a wonderful song and reminder that we must value each moment and day.

He died of a cardiac arrest at age 52 having taught for 27+ years.

  • @belfonds Thank you for your inspiring story

  • I remember when he performed this on the Good Time Hour. Liked it then, like it now.

  • What a great song, Glen is the best. This song makes me appreciate that beautiful central Texas landscape, especially from flight level 350 as our Boeing 737-700 is heading westbound to Las Vegas.

  • Glen Cambell has got better with age.

He is one of the greatest live performers you can see.

  • Beautiful song! Oh, for the good old days! Glen Campbell's wonderful voice does this one justice!

  • You can purchase the song from Napster.

  • This is one of my favorite songs-- I hear that Glen Campbell's show is now out on DVD.

  • Beautiful...many thanks to my friend Daniel for the share.

  • it is indeed a very inspirational song

  • one of my favourite songs of Glen...he is my favourite vocalist

  • One of the most tranquil and positive songs ever written. This was probably Jerry Reed's finest hour as a songwriter and Glen does a nice job too. This is one song everybody should hear at least once before they die.

  • God bless you Jerry Reed. Your deeply prescient song: Today is Mine was done complete justice by your very good friend, Glen Campbell

  • Jerry Reed WROTE This.... He passed away today..... Rest in Peace Snowman.

  • A masterpiece penned by Jerry Reed & rightly sung by Glen. This song will carve a niche in music history, & for both artists, deservedly so.

  • This song is from the movie "Moonrunners" which is the forerunner of the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV series. Waylon Jennings was the narrator of "Moonrunners" and sang this song and others on the soundtrack.

    Waylon does it better.

  • It's incredible what a small circle Nashville was back then. Jerry Reed played guitar for Waylon in the late 60's/early 70's. I'd love to hear Waylon's version. Do you know if it's available on anything? Jerry's version was played by tv fisherman Bill Dance on his tv show for years.

  • To my knowledge there is not a soundtrack album. Ripping it from the movie is the only way I know of the get a copy. Jerry and Waylon worked togetheragain in the late 90's on "The Old Dogs" albums with Bobby Bare and Mel Tillis.

  • Dick! You need to git your head out of your ass. Waylon was great. Glen is great! Why do you have to waste your useless ass time saying things like that??? The only thing you could do with a guitar is get your truck out out out of of a snowbank or to wake your drunk ass wife up to make you grits.

Appreciate these guys for their great talents and be thankful that they shared them .

  • bam bam bam love it

  • This has been my favorite song since it was released in 1971. But the song is a secret. Never a hit, never any airplay, rarely heard. With mantra-like lyrics by Jerry Reed, this is Glen's greatest musical moment.

  • I agree with you totally... you know, the lyrics for this song are so powerful that if world leaders would only listen each morning to this great song, there possibly would be no more wars. A masterpiece that only affects me more with each passing year since I first heard it in the early 70's..I wonder how Gen feels about it today?

  • Absolutely outstanding> one of the true sleeper Campbell Classics. Thank you very much for posting this. Absolutely terrific....

  • Wow! Thanks for posting this, always nice to see clips from the old Goodtime Hour.
