  • 1:54 One ring ! Preciouuuuuuuuus

  • I like this video !

  • trolls need to gtfo, this is definitely one of the best musical pieces of the past 30 years, if not more. Arigatou, Nobueo Uematsu-sama

Lebt wohl, Kinder! Bis zu jenem schicksalhaften Tag. • We anaylzyed this song in my AP music theory class XD

  • @Morningstardrummer

What did they say about the song?

  • why do i get Goose bumps every time i listen to this Soundtrack

  • A lot of memories came back to me upon hearing this. It was also what convinced me to buy my own PlayStation, a month before I turned fifteen. Well, in addition to Crash Bandicoot Warped and MegaMan Legends (which I got as a late birthday present).

I also remember playing Final Fantasy VIII for two straight weeks and finishing it in that much time. I think I also did at least most of the side quests, thanks to a player's guide (which I still have!).

  • Liberi Fatali alone beats the entire FFXIII-2 soundtrack.

  • Now i'm addicted to the hip hop version of liberi fatali

  • I considered VIII as the worst of the PSX FFs, because the story lacked something for me. However when I stumbled on the Rinoa-Arutimishia theory about a week ago I just can't stop thinking about it (old as the game itself, apparently one of the FFVIIIUltimania authors denied the theory, but I can't find the exact quotation, and to tell the truth I don't give a f*ck). I'm gonna play it again soon to judge myself. If it proves to be probable, I will consider the VIII as the best story of all FF.

  • Good. Aria de mezzo caraterre and liberi fatali are great. ^^

But I hate final fantasy VIII.

  • stupenda canzone e il gioco!!!!!

  • am a jerk

  • have you heard the London philharmonic version? This one is much better.

  • @kascnef I have the London Philharmonic track on CD, myself.

  • @ApacheMan2K upload it to youtube, man.... :) lets hear it

  • That's Epic!!!!!

  • fuck yeah seaking!

  • EPIC!!!!!!

  • @Flowen Clearly you didnt pay attention to the first 15 minutes of the game or when you meet Rinoa

  • For the first 20 seconds, I thought I was watching Evangelion!

  • Remember the PS2 tech demo which used the ballroom scene as a graphics test? As I watch this I wonder to myself, "Why didn't they remake this scene instead?"

  • I disliked the concept of draw. It was too tedious to draw the 100 stack

  • A remake of this game on the actual or next generation would totally be awesome

  • Later that day,

Squall:"So I was about to slice his shit, and then feathers came flying out of my sword."

    Everyone: o_O

  • SQUARESOFT

    PRESENTS

    FINAL FANTASY

    VIII

  • @Magebanshee

If you played the whole game, you'd realize this scene just something to hype up the player. It provided no real information upon the game. We don't even know why Squall was fighting there.

  • @Flowen It was training

  • @Flowen I take it you only played this game once

  • @Flowen There's a lot of things relevant about the intro, though maybe not immediately. The most obvious is the 'training' fight that puts Squall in the infirmary at the start of the game... the rest is more about symbolism and setting up themes, e.g. the field of flowers where Rinoa is waiting, is the place they agree to meet if they ever get separated. The feather floats off and later comes back in the ending sequence.

  • 1:01 - 1:21 Is the most amazing crescendo building I've heard in a game music, ever!

  • SQUARE

    ENIX

    PRESENTS

    FINAL

    FANTASY

    VIII

  • @justa16thnote SquareSoft*

  • This song kinda reminds me of Kingdom Hearts's Destati.

  • Turn FFVIII into an anime. I'd watch the hell out of that.

  • no wonder why Joshscorcher uses this song in his intro...

  • omg live action? youtube.com/watch?v=_MVNy0-mias

  • lol this opening has nothing to do with the game besides Squall's scar. :P

  • This is what newer FF fans have been missing... holy shit, the SNES and PS1 Final Fantasies were godlike compared to the new garbage.

  • Doces lembraças de uma época em que o simples deixava de ser simples...

  • Epic Game. I remember that some days I was forcing myself at home from school, with the fresh air in the morning, just to play this fantastic game and dreaming without counting hours nor thinking about problems but just keeping myself into the wonderful story and characters... Same I did with FF7. Good old days...

  • All FF games are overrated

  • Reminder to self: No matter HOW awesome the music, breathing is essential.

  • @DystopianButterfly eh its not ESSENTIAL, however listening to this regularly is.

  • @immortalwombat10 Oh, I would argue that it is, in fact, essential. If one does not breath, one will lose consciousness, and then one cannot listen to this!

  • @immortalwombat10

a valid point, however, if one NEVER breathed it would not be as much a tragedy as one having NEVER heard this song.

  • My Favourite FF game ever! Over the VII, IX, X , XII and XIV !!

  • E P I C !

  • FF8 is overrated

  • @sephiroth8261 You forgot hipster.jpg my dear man

  • @sephiroth8261 That's FF7 , my friend ^_^

  • @sephiroth8261 for you

  • @sephiroth8261

    I promise you, it's not.

  • I have all 4 discs of FF8, Im thinking about selling them, how much do you think they would go for, and if anyone is thinking about buying send me a message on my muffinmaster23 youtube account.

  • I feel like i can fight chuck norris with my left pinky

  • CHILLS

  • Great .. Check out some of the music by my composer, Jon Brooks for my upcoming film 'Fears and Foes'.

  • one of the most epic intros EVAH!

  • @nicky143782 the greatest ever

  • @nicky143782 this IS the most epic intro... EVERRRR

  • nobouo uematsu is amazing, he went from bit-bop video game music, to a big 16 piece orchestra!

  • the first time I saw this I was falling from the chair..

  • This song has ALWAYS sent shiver's down my spine, and gave me goosebumps.

    I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • im 17 now, i cant believe that i played this back when i was only 5 -7 years old. Normally kid at that age would NEVER be able to complete such a complexe rpg game, but the style got me going forward!

  • @darkerca Same i started playing this very young i think i was 8 or 9 at the time.Has changed my life in many ways, not just for gaming.

  • @666MetalMatt Same here :)

  • @darkerca WHY THE HELL IS THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST IN YOUR NAME? ARE YOU EL DIABLO?!

  • @darkerca not you the commet you wer replying to

  • @sephiroth8261 yes it was

  • @darkerca sorry allow me to fix it

  • @666MetalMatt WHY THE FUCK IS THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST IN YOUR NAME? WHO DO U THINK YOU ARE?! EL DIABLO?!

  • @sephiroth8261 oh lol! calm down christfag

  • 6 could also means good fortune in some other culture you know? ; ) calm down mate.

  • enemy skill added: firaga...oops forgot this uses the fail-gf-system

  • anyone kno where i can buy/obtain this with a good emulator for my comp??? =D

  • This game was one of the best ff i have ever played.

  • @Ichigi000 This game was one of the best ff ever

  • @kman618

You can play this on any ps3 if you have the game because all ps3 have ps1 backward compatibity!

  • @unnoticedpasserby Woah woah. You misunderstood me again. I've never said all games should be ''Mayhem games'', which isnt a fucking genre... FF8 isn't one of those genre's, its a RPG. Manhunt is in the genre of action/adventure. COD is in the genre of FPS. Punch-Out is in the genre of fighting. FF is in the genre of RPG. Minecraft is in the genre of Indie (Which is actually a legitimate genre now). It dosent matter how you ''Felt'' or think about a game, or it it touched your heart.

  • that single note at the end just gives me chills whenever i hear it.

  • Remake this for PS3 please!

  • @unnoticedpasserby Also, you misunderstood my comment. Although, games like these certainly dosen't balance things. I take it you dont know how video games work.

  • @unnoticedpasserby I was just taking a piss out of Sephiroth's comment. And my comment was purely stupid. It just seems like a typical day dream. But it would be a great plot on a indie game. (Which was my point anyway, it would be stupid to put a indie game on a disc and impossible too)

  • So yeah my fiance is going to be singing with the orchestra for this song ;-; In distant Worlds...

  • @MrPrototypz finally. a fellow lover of destruction and death. there are for things that make life worth living:madness, anarchy, chaos, and you.

  • @sephiroth8261 You forgot mass mayhem =). Man, i just loooooooooove when shit explodes/implodes!

  • 23 people got hit by seifer's firaga

  • Just love this song lol and game of course lol

  • *chills* You know, I'm more of an FF7 fan, but this DEFINITELY had the more epic opening.

  • Einfach nur GEIL

    Just AWESOME

    OHRGASMUS

    EARGASM

  • with fiery truth...lead youtubers to banish the darkness of trolls

  • 23 people got owned by Ultimecia...

  • Kinda funny how they have this epic battle with orchestra music int he background, the game itself opens with the protagonist in the school nurse's office being picked up by his teacher...

  • @ETLyrics1

That's the reality of things... after a battle you usually wind up either in the morgue or in a hospital room... they both got lucky. But yeah, FFVIII was much more dramatic and romance driven as well as deep than the previous ones, which were simpler, but in a way, cuter.

  • @Phireo You have a point, but when I see a huge battle like this with a full-blown chorus blaring in the background, I expect some kind of earth-shattering event or battle...not so much a sparring practice. I can forgive it though, because almost all Final Fantasy intros after 7 are very overhyped. It's still a decent game.

  • For Halloween 2010, There was a guy in my University who came to class with that music playing. Prof was like WTF.

Feels I wanna do the same one day.

  • @BeluOranje nope, never happened

  • @BeluOranje To be original, try this song: watch?v=jbR-MlRfqbM

It's just as demonic and more fast-paced. I think it'll give a good "O_O" reaction from people. ;)

  • hehehehehe the best opening in a videogame ever ^.^ even surpass todays videogame openings

  • FFVIII: - Best Love Story, Best Soundtrack, Best Invocation and Best Plot Ever

  • The only thing that sucked in this game was Draw.. I hated, every boss fight ended u p taking an hour or two cause you wanted 100 of the new spell that each boss had for your characters, and each draw they got like 5 if you were lucky and normally "Draw failed"

  • when i saw this intro when i played, i knew the game was going to be epic.

  • 1:23 - 1:27

    FUCKING PERFECT

  • @ikebukuro90 Electric Orchestra.

  • What genre of music would you say this is?

  • @Lewnuhhkau i dont know... like latin dramittica, or latin opera. but yea, if you find out tell me its amazing

  • @Lewnuhhkau Electric Orchestra.

  • I was OBSESSED with this video before the game came out. 16 years old, having just completed Final Fantasy VII mastering all Materia. I couldn't wait!!

  • Epic as hell

  • gosh 8 was so fricken epic

  • why does this always give me goosebumps at every loud noise?

  • of all the great tracks on FF8, this is the greatest

  • Laguna should have his own spin off from ff8.

  • without a doubt the greatest video game opening ever

  • this was my first Final Fantasy :D the best in my opinion, followed by FF X

  • I wish FF would go back to these kinda thing from FF1 to FF9 Freaking amazing. 10 was alright. 11 I thought it was fun, 12 ehh, 13 what the fuck man 13 was BS.

  • @seinostrifer1 i felt twelve was almost as good as the original nine ten was ok after a couple of play throughs but your right thirteen ssssssuuuuuucccccccckkkkkkeeeeeddddddddddd and i havent played 11

  • @seinostrifer1 what is the hate for 13? i enjoyed it

  • @seinostrifer1 Uhm 13 was fine... If it sucked then they wouldn't bother with a sequel.

  • I saw this long ago back in 1999 when the game came out.I was eight and It was not my own. I was into Spyro, Crash Bandicoot...then one day I go to my best friends house at the time and he places this game whose name would not reveal to me till 2001 by the age of 10. After playing games like the ones I mentioned, when I saw this video...It turned my world upside down. A feather turning into a sword, this powerful music...It became my first RPG. Even now, at my age of 21, still impresses me.

  • wow the classic i still remember when i started playing ff8 right at the start it already creep me out with tis song LOL~

  • Oh i remember this song sooo well. I cleared FF7 thanks to my sis , and right after finnishing 7 I jumped into 8. As soon as i pressed "new game" i was blessed to hear this song. Even though i was a kid back then, i remember the goosebumps and how my arm's hair shaked haha. It was by far the BEST OPENING EVER of any FF game. Period. It was amazing.

  • never played any FF games (regretfully), but this opening gave me chills!

  • @Emily5396 I never played any PS1 FF games but this intro looks awesome!

  • @AlyssaQistina98 That's the golden age of FF -you're missing out on a lot. If you get by the fact that the graphics are outdated, those were some of the most addicting games in the industry.

  • @serenadesilhout You're right. Too bad I was born in the late 90's......LATE 90'S......

  • @AlyssaQistina98 I was born pretty late too, but that hasn't stopped me from playing them all.

  • Quite possibly the greatest and most epic game intro of all time. I can't think of one better.

  • ah, i watched this OP with my big sister and i can still remember my amazement...

  • why isn't this song in dissidia?

  • @kouyung its coming to dissidia 012 as dlc

  • Easily the greatest intro ever.

  • Chills even 12 years later...

  • @harmor515

    Chills!!

    All along my spine!

  • best. opening. to. a. game. ever.

  • @setsailgilhooly No no,best opening to a game ever is to Parasite Eve.

  • @36256564874847848487 *u* I like both. Ff8's theme makes me feel like I'm going to die but Parasite eve's makes me feel like I'm gonna kick some ass.

  • @Kurasshu88 To me FFVIII opening almost didn't made any sense, because the only Interestning part was Squall and Seifer fight, but when I get what they was just training-even this part became not interestning anymore.

  • @36256564874847848487 just because it wasnt interesting doesnt mean that it makes no sense. and even if it didnt, it was an opening. not the entirety of the game jammed into a cutscene. and for that matter, it does explain how seifer and squall got thier scars to start you off with the fact that they have a huge rivalry thing going on.

  • @duathadruid Lolwut?Opening(just like whole game)didn't made any sense, only good thing In that was music and graphic.

  • @36256564874847848487 If the opening and the game didn't make ANY sense to you, you need to get your brains checked.

  • @darlians Not again...I hate fanboys.Tell me at least 1 reason why opening had to make to me any sense, but without your fanboyism.

  • @36256564874847848487 Well, maybe some people have a diff defenition of making sense, no offense. like how i think that final fantasy 9 made no sense.

  • @duathadruid final fantasy 9 no sense? then you dont know the meaning of "life" sir

  • @riskbreakerrecca17 9 was good, but 8 will always be my favorite.

  • @riskbreakerrecca17 Look, this is just perpetuating an argument, i think its awesome that you can make sense out of that game, but i just personally didnt enjoy it, im glad you did though, however, you dont have to insult and say i dont know the meaning of life. I dont know it, and i doubt anyone does, but i do believe that it is just a question that humanity formulated to make them feel more occupied. philosophers and normal people alike have wondered what the meaning of life is. i Dont know.

  • @36256564874847848487 The game actually makes perfect sense if you pay attention to what's going on. Go back and play it again sometime. It's really good. o uo

  • @hazelXin223 Fanboy. This game made me fall asleep,so I don't think this game will make to me any sense.

  • @36256564874847848487 Well yeah I'm a fan of FF8. It was my favorite game, but I promise if you actually pay attention to the story, you'll know what's going on. What didn't make sense to you? Are you actually confused about the plot or are you just being a jaded asshole because you want to be?

  • @hazelXin223 Damn, can we ALL just leave all you fanboy/girlism somewhere esle and enjoy the video!

  • @36256564874847848487 It's pretty awesome that you don't have any valid reasons as to why you don't understand and that all you can say when someone backs you into a corner is that they're a fanboy/fangirl as to demoralize them. Here I am trying to help you understand the game and you're just being a dick just to be one. If you didn't like the game then you didn't like it, but don't go saying you just don't understand it and then be a dick about it when people try to help.

  • @hazelXin223 You don't have any valid reasons too.You say something like OMFG U SUCK DIS GEME DAS GREUT REPALY DAT U N00B.

  • @36256564874847848487 I didn't say that at all LOL. I said I liked the game and wanted to know what you didn't understand. Like I said it's fine if you don't like it, but it seems like you're just beating around the bush and making up lame excuses to hide the fact that you don't like the game. Is it so hard to just say it?

  • @hazelXin223 I'm confused. In one comment you say that you didn't said 'that',and say 'this'.

  • FF I to IX were some of the best games ever made. X was good, but it felt kinda different, and a little worse than others. The rest is the worst trash I've ever seen. From the spinoffs, Dissidia seemed awesome, while others were kind of average. Enjoyable, but nothing special. Yes, X-2 was a total trash. But that's all IMO.

  • final fantasy e um dos melhores da historia so perdendo para o precioso e imcoparavel final fantasy 7,uma perola da square

  • If someone played this song near me when I'm old and wrinkled I'd have an instant flashback into childhood. They don't make games like these anymore.

  • most interesting characters in FF according to me: Aerith, Cloud, Tifa, Cid the airpilot, Barrett (big dangerous mofo, good heart), Red 13, Yuffi, Vincent the Vampire, Sepiroth (an insecure but very dangerous badguy) Squall (the strong silent type), Rinoa, Laguna, Seifer, Quistis, Zell, Irvine (a blowhard, but a good guy), Zidane (good spirited, charming fellow), Vivi, Steiner, Garnett, Amarant, Freya, Kuja. I need characters I can invest in, or the it just doesn't work for me.

  • @septimal a matter of opinion I suppose. I just thought the characters in 12 were more interesting than in 13 and I had a bigger emotional stake in them. I've had the biggest emotional connection to the characters in 7, 8 and 9. I didn't like the characters in 13, they were too flat and especially the character Hope was very annoying. I did like the fact that the main character was a woman for once, they should do that more often.

  • I remember when this first came out. Not sure which game is better FFVIII or FFVI. What these older games may lack in graphics, they have more than made up for it with a storyline, something newer generation games seem to have forgotten. I think its high time to dust off the super nintendo, pop in a cartridge, and play some real RPG's!

  • @leom233 square enix is slowly going back to storyline based RPG's. The downfall of today's video game market is trying to push a release date and focus on graphics....If they were to survey the RPG gaming community I'm sure we would say "sacrifice the graphics we need an epic tear jerking story"

  • @DrArticuno As long as there's still beautiful CG cutscenes and amazing and epic scenery and scenes I'd be fine with that :D and lots of content. Hamauzu is an amazing composer so I'm fine. Have an improved version of XIII's battle system and have lots of character development and replay value. That's a winner :D

  • @yoyoyo88665 you think VIII's battle system was good? i personally enjoyed 12's unconventional and fun... And I'd have to agree with you on the CG cutscenes. Man I miss the good old days where JRPGs could double as a movie

  • I love Final Fantasy. Played and finished part 7,8,9,10,12, great amusement and storytelling, but what the F happened to Final Fantasy 13. Just an action game, no character of story development as good as in the previous parts. Especially the character Hope annoyed me. I didn't even find myself interested in finishing the story, because I had no emotional connection to the characters whatsoever, and I cried when Aeris died in FF7, thats how invloved I was with the characters.

  • @whackthedog I'd say XII was worse than XIII, the storyline just had no sense of epicness

  • It was just a sparing match that went too far.Could have been worse, could have been like that exhibition match which turned into Apollo Creed's death sentence.

  • FF8 was an amazing game with amazing music but i was so confused when i first finished the game i played it years later and understood allot more about the story but i am still confused :S i have an idea ill beat it again :D

  • I beat this in my PSP!!1 :D

  • ahhh~this vid brought me back to the days where everyone thought this graphic quality is the TOP~

  • Here it is being played at the Olympics. watch?v=38mmmvsBA1Q

  • Final VIII, best of the series, fuck everything else!

  • Epicness!

  • FF8 is the only one I like, all the others make me feel like I play game for kids...

  • @TheCrusaderBin i used to say the same thing until i played FF7 now that's a masterpiece
