  • omg,i had forgotten about this song until I watched the video entitled,"Gilbert O' Sullivan Utrecht 14 March 2011".Once i started listening to it,the tune came back to me(in case you're wondering-yes,I'm old enought to remember when it was current).I've forgotten some of the lyrics, though. Pianobillf:I agree with you.He sounds more like McCartney than McCartney

    does. patybear

  • Reminds me of the mid 80s, my sister and I were brushing our teeth at night and singing this song, but we wouldn't say the word "hell" so we'd insert a random word that had to do with our current activity--toothpaste, water, etc. How silly of us! It was our mom's music, that's why we even know the song.

  • brilliant what a great song this is

  • Sorta catchy....

  • He sounded more like McCartney than McCartney did!

  • Why can't they make great songs like this anymore? Strong, pleasant, original melodies----that's what I miss!

  • Classic track by Gilbert O'Sullivan from the early 1970's (one of many, i might add).

One of the things I like about this song is that it highlights the fact that birds behave just as badly (if not worse) than blokes, when it comes to love and sex !!

  • I had this song stuck in my head, but only the last part. Now I have it all! appreciate anyone who shares music.

  • ONE OF MY DA'S FAVS.

  • Ray (Gilbert) hit #17 in Billboard, 5-19-93. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @DaveWollenberg You're Welcome :)

  • @DaveWollenberg This was a US hit in 1993?? That was 20 years after release. Great song though.

  • @starchaser77 LOL! My bad! I meant '73!

  • Ah, I remember when this song was released when I was in 6th grade. Went out with my allowance and bought the "45" and almost wore it out! Thank you for posting this beautiful oldie!

  • Master songwriter!

  • yes iam still a kid in the 70s wonderful feeling yeah

  • My poor brothers and sister know every single word to this song due to the number of times I played it as a teenager....I played this song at our last family gathering and we all began to immediately sing along...so much fun, laughter and pleasant memories..thank you Gilbert!

  • @doctord185 So do i better off single , well in my case any how Some people just no morrals at all ,

  • I've been listening to this all day - it's great!!

  • My favorite Gilbert song!

  • Beautiful!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs by him.

  • Starguard, I used to bug my junior high "dj" spinning records in the lunchroom to play his records as well (except "Alone again" - that's a suicidal "Debbie Downer" of a song", IMO). "Claire" was greatness as well.

  • Back in the 70's I remember waiting by the radio for hours on end for them to play this song. Loved it then, and STILL love it now!!

  • God I loved this song when I was 9 and I still do 37 years later! Still have the 45!

  • Hit #17 in Billboard. Did it chart in Ireland or the UK? God bless!

  • maybe even '74 too? was Get Down released that year? thanks for posting.

    Joe in NH, USA

  • He was at the top of his game 1972-73.

  • PERFECT
