Bullocks. There is no concrete evidence that the runic writing systems, futhark or futhorc, were used for magical purposes. In fact, it seems they were the standard of literacy in Old Germanic cultures, and thusly used for basic messages like we would do today with texts or sticky notes. Take such messages as "oli er oskeyndr auk stroðinn I rassinn" and "Gyða segir at þu gakk heim"; thse hardly seem befitting a mystical system of great cultural importance.

@resurgam44 hello, I am sorry to contradict you, but I have read numerous references to the runes as magic in the sagas (take the withc in grettir's saga or egil himself in egil's saga) not to mention the passages in the prose edda that explain the mystical origin of runes in association with Woden.

As for archaeological evidence, though many inscriptions seem of no relevance, there are others on weapons and stones that invoke power to a person or object.

Iit is invocation of these forces that the wodenist will utilise to bind him in unity with his folk and ensure his success against the "New World Order".

Buddhado, There are 24 runes in the Elder Germanic Futhark( Futhark is named after the 1st six runes) The Norse, wrongly called the Vikings Had a sytem of 16 runes called the Younger Futhark. And The Anglo-Saxons had a 33 rune3 system. You can easily search for the different rune systems on the internet
