  • know what i hate...people cant just watch a vid without offering some of their ideas on how to fix you problem...just watch the vid she dident ask for pointers...

  • My sheltie used to take my socks outside and chew holes in them. After swatting him with one of the socks, now he just takes them outside. LOL

  • "Are you sorry?"

    "No."

    "You were supposed to supervise."

"I did! I supervised while she shredded the room. I had to be sure she did it correctly."

Very sweet video! Thanks for sharing

  • xD

  • SHAME at 1:39

  • Have you tried putting that bitch down, so she never does it again?

  • we use to try and leave our sheltie and first it was the blinds then the carpet but we still love her just the cage from now on when we leave LOL

  • hahaha i know this is going to happen...because I let them once outside the cage..inside the house coz outside was snowing hard...my shetland puppy destroy a lot of things!!!

  • Lol! And I thought my sheltie was bad...

  • This is not uncommon. Shelties (and many other dog breeds) are prone to develope separation anxiety. One thing that can inadvertantly encourage this behavior is when the owner 'makes an event' out of leaving the dog alone. For example, the owner understands that the dog has this anxiety, so they will spend extra time saying good-bye to the dog, and generally make a big production out of leaving. This will only make the behavior get worse. I've found it is best to leave with little fanfare.

  • wow thats a mess lol

  • Every time I see this video, it makes me laugh! :D

  • LOL I have a Sheltie and when hes in trouble he wont look at you until you call his name louder then he gets the real puppy dog look on his face and then he will try to distract you by getting his toys

  • my sheltie took his brand new bed outside and tore it all up. It looked like christmas in july! foam EVERYWHERE

  • that's unlikely behavior for a sheltie :(

  • Lol. This made me laugh. What a sweet puppy you have! =)

  • Those are 2 of the most guilty looking dogs i've ever seen!

  • makes me miss my sheltie. had her for 15 yrs - best dog ever, but boy could she be destructive. she ate a whole in our bathroom floor all the way through to the basement, subflooring and all.

  • @apachiedragon

Mine bites me sometimes, actually makes me bleed, but I will always love him.

  • I love how they just know they did something wrong. Head goes down, ears will go back, or they'll lay down and kind of ignore you. LOL People who say dogs "don't know" have never had a Sheltie and never came back to a mess. With mine its usually just garbage if we accidentally left it out or food wrappers. I know there's a mess or had his face somewhere it shouldn't have been like up the cat's butt... just by him not being at the door when I walk in. I'll go near the cat and he hides. LOL

  • Get a crate!

  • thnx for the advice but you're about 11 years too late!

  • @sniborlrak its never too late for crate training, unless you mean that your dog has passed away..

  • @clwusc46 please don't lock a dog in a crate because you fail to train it. our dog stays alone for sometimes 6 hours a day. she never touches anything and is probabaly sleeping most of the time. just exercise some more so the dog will be tired.

  • my sheltie likes to tear apart the trash and drag it across the house. one time i left for a couple of hours and came back and the wall was torn up! she chewed all along the dorway up to the corner of the wall!

  • Funny! I had a previous sheltie who chewed holes in our dry wall.

LOVED your video of the pom lookiing for where the printer paper came from. Hilarious! and quite a smart little dog.

  • @xXKittyxCat My sheltiepoo does the same thing

  • :45 - there was nothin' good on TV anyway.

  • my sheltie does that too i left for an hour came back and she chewed most everything even a METAL box i had omg lol :)

  • lol. I love my sheltie

1:08 "I don't really wanna talk about it."

  • Oh no. I have this experience before. =)

  • D: oh noes lol

  • haha My Sheltie does that exact same thing. He even ripped up my report card once

  • lol. maybe you shoulda gotten better grades!

  • I get perfectly good grades thank you very much haha :P

  • Well I guess we'll never be able to prove otherwise since your dog shredded the evidence. very convenient. xD

  • oh no...poor you... my sheltie has never done this...knock on wood

  • sittin protectin it like hes sayin this is my mess

  • Oh she definitely knew what she did! A very smart dog.

  • Yes, she is very smart and has turned out to be a great dog with a lot of "personality" xD

    Er du från Helsinki?

  • LOL, nej/nei. I am not Finnish at all. I was just looking at a postcard from Finland (from my friend) when I created the account. But, I know a very tiny amount of the Swedish/Norwegian/Danish languages to know that the question is not written in Finnish :) Probably not Icelandic or Faeroese as well? But...I don't speak Finnish.

  • You have a good eye/ear? for the Scandanavian languages. That was my lame attempt at Swedish. I'm afraid that's the closest I know to Finnish. :)

  • LOL, well, Swedish and Finnish are from different language families, but both are official languages of Finland. So close enough! BTW, how do u know if Shelby didn't take part in this escapade? She has some sort of guilty face too! Your shelties crack me up.

  • I have 9 shelties. We were a rescue for 6 years and ended up keeping the 9 because of different reasons. Shelties are special. See our tennesseeshelties on youtube.

  • April is a cutie. I forgot about the spinning. My sheltie completely destroyed about 200 feet of the hallway wall to wall carpet. We left her with my brother for a long weekend and he obviously did not watch her. She took one piece that was unraveled and must have walked back and forth for the entire weekend until the carpet was destroyed. April is such a cutie!!!

  • Woah....how long did you leave them alone for

  • the other dog is so disgusted .. lol .... "i told you not to bring this into our house".

  • You're the first one to mention that but you hit the nail on the head. He really wasn't all that happy about adding the new dog. The older one died about a year later and the "puppy" ( April) is now 10 years old and still full of personality. You can see her in the Out Of Control video which was taken within the last few months.

  • shelties have so many emotions, and one of them is definitely disgust. it can be for the same species or others - i remember that my dog used to get so disgusted when we would pay attention to our parakeets. at first she would cry and bark, but eventually she got so fed up that she would have to leave the room immediately. // i can see from your videos that april is still full of personality - is that the twirling dog in the videos?

  • Yes, that's April doing all the spinning. Even at 10 she hasn't slowed a bit. The spinning on the trail is a daily occurence in between races with the cars. I wouldn't describe her attitude toward her current "sister" as disgust but there is definitely 'jealousy' if Taffy gets attention that April feels should be hers.

  • LOL That dog is like "I love my work".

  • he acts like hes done nothing

  • I also own a sheltie, mines name is scooter. i also owned a collie showdog named clandy. dont you just love their noses

  • Random, but do your shelties poke thing with their nose? I noticed she poked the phone when she came to sit down by you. My sheltie, Kensey pokes everything including us with her pointy lil nose all the time.

    Just wondering

  • Don't you just love that "I'M GUILTY!!" sheltie face? I love it so much, I usually forgive her right there.

  • Yes, the face IS irresistable. thanks for the comment. check back in a few days (or subscribe) as I will post another video over the weekend starring the irresistable one which I think you'll enjoy. by the way, she's now 10 years old and is a great dog.

  • They are so sensitive and mine always had the guilty face after being naughty :). They can't stand for you to be mad at them. These sheltie videos are making my heart ache for another one. In this horrible economy I don't dare get another dog. I am going to a sheltie rescue if I ever do get another one.

  • does ur sheltie bark alot? mine barkes like theres no tomarrow!!! and since she is so hairy, everyone acuses her of being fat!!!

  • Hi Heather,

Yes, my sheltie, April, is nearly 10 years old now and still barks constantly. Check out the video Sheltie spins like a top. It is a good example of how much she barks (and spins).

    Karl

  • 1:39 cracked me up, your sheltie is so cute and she like "awe im sorry.." haha nice video.

  • Thanks for the comment. You'll be happy to know that she has grown up to be a great dog with very little else to "be sorry about".

  • snibor,

Once shelties get over their naughtiness they become the most well behaved dogs. My sheltie could be a little devil until she was about 3. Thanks for posting, you brought back so many beautiful memories. My sheltie lived to be 16 and I was with her all the way. Her ashes will be buried with me. I have had many dogs and loved them all, Pepsicola (sheltie) was like a soulmate to me. :) God Bless April and may she make you smile for Many many years to come.

  • Thanks for all your kind comments. Yes, once April grew out of her "naughty" stage she became and continues to be a wonderful and loving dog. She just celebrated her 10th birthday and although she is no longer "naughty" she certainly has an abundance of "personality" as you might notice in some of the videos.

  • sniborlrak,

You have really made my day by posting these videos. I felt the connection with my dog once again. April looks so much like Pepsi. I love the way they actually smile, lol. Thanks again my friend!!

  • LOL!! Of course she's sorry! How cute....

  • She looks like she knows something is wrong, but isn't connecting it with the torn up house. Dogs have to be caught in the act in order to make that connection. This is a case for crate training, or being put in a confined area where there is nothing to tear up. Extremely intelligent, left on their own Shelties get bored easily, and if not confined will find something to do that isn't boring. Tearing up cushions is way more interesting than lying around, waiting for the humans to come home.

  • Everytime I see this video, it cracks me up--LOL!! :)

  • I'm a dog trainer/sheltie owner. Yours are adorable! The dog hasn't a clue what you are talking about unless you caught it within 3 seconds. Dogs live in the moment. If dog is not reliable don't give it free run of the house.Respectfully suggesting you restrict the shredder dog to a puppy proof area when you can't supervise, rather than scold the dog for what was a bad idea on owner's part. It was the owner's mistake, not the dog's, OK?

    Peace!and tail wags, Elizabeth

  • aw she is like no that will teach you leave me home and how dare you go out with out me .loved it not that you got your stuff ripped up ,but that you are a true dog lover.

  • Every day when I come home my Carian Terrier Sheltie mix has chewed something up!

  • I have two shelties and they are just as 'innocent'! Love the video, thanks for the laugh!

  • my sheltie once ate my sister's birthday cake completely in half! it looked like my mom had cut it!!

  • lol she does not look sorry. I swear sometimes they think they are people. If sh could speak I am sure she would tell you that you had it coming and how dare you leave her alone!

  • All too familiar! I have a Sheltie who loves to destroy her toys by pulling the stuffing out of them and I have caught her gnawing on the edges of the rugs at times.

I had a Rough Collie before and my Sheltie acts like he did in every way! We used to come home to find that my Collie and Dalmation had gone scavenging in the trash can and they would spread the contents all over the house!

So far my Sheltie has not gotten into trouble because I now have experience with these truly wonderful dogs!

  • Oh boy that looks familiar. If only you could catch them in the act... ;)

Shelties really are very good dogs! I've seen college kids try to keep a Foxhound indoors, and they're among the hardest to train.

  • Apparently, she didn't like that bathroom rug! LOL

  • my shelties does the same thing. one day we came home and they got ahold to the paper towls lol it took me like 2 hours to clean it all.

  • I guess she didn't like being left alone. Poor dog and poor you.

  • Like I tell my sheltie all the time, "It's a good thing you're cute!" April is very beautiful =) And I think she looks sorry =/
