I was lucky enough to see them twice in the very first Rock in Rio, January 11th and 18th 1985. It was epic, Freddie was arguably the best, most commanding entertaining Rock n Roll front man ever. Great tune too.
John was a family man, married with 6 kids. He stayed with the band 25 yrs, but he took Freddie's death pretty hard. Didn't seem like 'Queen' with out Freddie, so he finished all the projects and tours they had lined up before he left. Still married to the same lady so I guess he made the right choice.
@PalkiaTheHamster......You have fabulous taste! But, just wondering......how do you type with those tiny little paws?? LOL! But, as long as you can put the CD in and listen to Queen, who cares!!
I first heard this in the mixed version of "it's a hard life". He only sings one sentence of the song, yet it's so powerfull that I just had to find the song it belongs to. My all time favoreite. I always listen to it when I'm down. It reminds me that things can only get better from there on...
an all time favorite of mine! *Keep Passing the Open Windows*...Great Queen! ((I've got this on vinyl, from their WORKS album, even though this is an extended version)
A silent salute to you, Freddie...up on a star, wherever you are...
Love Peace Music from Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock), who interviewed you guys in 1984...
When you listen many modern bands you will notice that some and much songs are very similar, but when you listen to Queen music you never found two or more songs similar each other,Queen music is special also for that.
I think, in this time of crisis, the world needs a guy like Farookh Bulsara!.....a agree with you........ i d like to say to freddie....how i wish you were here...... miss you.....
I'm french and I work in Paris. And every morning, I get across the Champs Elysées, with this song in my ears... and it makes me harder, better, faster, stronger, and the best lawyer in this f*** city! I think, in this time of crisis, the world needs a guy like Farookh Bulsara! R.I.P & thanks Dave
This song is one of the most underrated songs to be ever known, to be honest i bet there is hardly anyone knows that this fantastic Queen classic exists!
Definitely one of the most underrated songs from The Works Album. Freddie's voice is amazing, although different from the 70's(Caused by Smoking),but it is still exquisite. Love the piano too ;)
This song was written for the movie, Hotel New Hampshire. Collaboration fell through, so the song wasn't in the film. One character ends up NOT passing the open window.
Damn. Queen really did have all those great songs. And songs like this were overshadowed by those hits. This song would have charted for sure if it were ever released as a single.
Queen are fantastic. They had so many great songs but look deeper and you find true gems like this one. All to many were underrated or never saw the full light of day. Long live Freddie in our hearts
I like this extended version...

really caused by smoking? not just age?

No, it was more likely smoking. Apparently he took up smoking to give himself a deeper voice.
