scales sound boring but they aren't their a bunch of notes wich sound good together no matter what so you can just screw around and it sounds good
i think the normal pentatonic is the first thing a guitar player should learn because you can play the blues with it easily and that where everyone should start (unless you're going classical but that's a different story)
Really great video as always Alan. This is a welcome deviation into something a little different. Really nice work. I also really like that matt-looking finish on your 335 as well :)
@will1988 Check out Indian 'Ragas', there is really no equivalant from an indian 'scale' to a western one. It's a different perspective of playing music. Rags are structured so that you play a certain set of notes ascending, then a different set of notes descending. Sounds really cool. Derek trucks uses those a lot...
Well, awesome scale results awesome sound.. nice solo

That sounds cool. Reminds me of Frank Zappa. Are you getting your overdrive from your amp?

Dude should get a fretless guitar. Western fretted instruments have too few notes for this sort of thing.

what is the name of that scale?
dwally89 8 months ago 3
@dwally89 This is a wild guess, but it sounds like a Byzantine scale
Hoopermazing 7 months ago
@dwally89 Dominant pentatonic. Its a minor pentatonic scale with a major 3rd instead of a minor 3rd.
