@gf1001 We certainly did ... oh boy I used to LOVE willy wombat .... I could do an impression of him which I could still do sometimes if I think nobody's watching. lol. Another programme they ought to bring back for today's generation of children. :)
I had a boomerang too. Have a scar on my chin where it came back and stuck in. Wow - always thought it was tinker and tucker until now but we are talking 45 years ago or something like that.
What's very interesting is to listen to Jean Morton's accent and her whole demeanour, really. "Lavly", "doont yew tek enny nootice of thooose burrs" - since when have British TV presenters spoken like that?!?! From that point of view alone, these programmes would not be usable (even though they're in colour) because the cut-glarrs accent and manner of the presenters is, by what we watch today, so old fashioned.
So Tingha and Tucker had their own TV show? I can remember they were in a nursery comic I got as a wee lad which was called Pippin. The stories had them acting out famous nursery tales and I think they were a lot better than the TV show which you could never show to today's kids.
so good to see this....... yep im sad as well I still have a 45 yr old Koala called Tinga (my brother didnt look after tucker as well) he is worse for wear but my kids love him too..... and whats best of all is I emmigrated with my Koala to the land of his birth (well acutally thats probably hong kong or something but you know what I mean!!)
Tears In My Eyes, I Am Still Proud To Be A Member Of The Tingha & Tucker Fan Club I Remeber Meeting Auntie Jean Twice & Being Invited To See Them Live, I Have Lost my Little Red Boomerang, Anybody Still Got One, I Am 44 & My Goldfish Are Called Tingha & Tucker Call Me Sad If You Want I Still Am A Member Of The Tingha & Tucker Fan Club & Always Will Be
Still got the boomerang, and would instantly recognise the sign of finger to forehead! Woomerang boomerang this is our sign........ Funny how some things never go away eh?
Wonderful stuff! Auntie Jean Morton is terrific. I seem to recall there being a kangeroo milkman who used to shout " Milko!" with a sort of yodel at the end,
Thanks for this posting. oh how I remember this, Jean Morton I believe now lives in spain, she was always on the box in the 60s and 70s, as a presenter, Does anyone know how Jean is these days? Great memories.
Oh I remember this, my Auntie bought me some cards for Christmas with the puppets on them, and bible stories on the back, this was a great show, I loved it
Do you also remember an Australian show called The Enchanted House? In this house lived an elephant called Nellyphant, a giraffe called Tiny, and a kangaroo called Joe. It had a trumpet-based theme and was originally made in the late 50s, but our generation would have first seen it around the early 70s. Is there anyone else out there who can recall it?
me to man what a lovely memory aunty jean .what a dame lol.i got a yellow boomerang and a auntiy jean book on wombats and koalas. wish id kept them. thanks for that mate took me back
I too was a member of the Tingha and Tucker club. It is one of my earliest childhood tv memories along with Andy Pandy and Bill and Ben.I was a big fan of Willie Wombat. Happy carefree times!
Thank you for posting this, Dear God i have tears in my eyes with the happy memories i have watching this with my late lamented granny. I was a T&T Club member and had the boomerang and badge. I still got the badge with me. Happy days :-)
Being nearly 44yrs old now, this is the first thing I ever remember on television as a small boy. I thought I remembered them living in a cave though and it being black and white? Or was it because we only had a B&W TV set? I've become very nostalgic in my latter years. Denial maybe? :o) Thanks for putting this on.
Wow I remember watching this as a kid Tinger and Tucker and auntie jean and Wallie Wambat, been looking for this for ages , thanks for posting
