I was 3 when Jimmie died. My parents played his records alot. then the record player was destroyed during the Dirty 30s. I remember dad saying "that Earnest Tubb fella traveling with Jimmie will never make it".
Wow, i never would have believed that someone would post Jimmie Rogers on YouTube..thank you so much..i have very wonderful memories of driving to town with my dad, and he was singing these songs..i grew up listening to all of these..thanks again for the memories
"Good God she was lying there dead" is from the song "Those Gambler's Blues"..These were the songs I grew up on...My Dad played the records and also strummed the guitar and sang them...
I just bought the 5 CD set of 109 Jimmie Rodgers' songs and I think I saw that he only recorded 118 songs so it is a pretty full set of songs that he recorded..I have not heard them in over 30 years and can remember most of the lyrics...I guess Dad played them A LOT.....
The Father Of Country Music,The Mississippi Blue Yodeler,The Daddy Of Us All.Well Jimmie If No One else Cares About you and or Your Songs Or Misses You,just know i do and i always will.RIP James Charles Rodgers. :-)
God bless him, my dad loved this man's music. When we were kids, he took us to the Jimmie Rodgers' museum in Meridian, Mississippi. I remember "T for Texas, T for Tennessee" was his favorite.
Are there some more lyrics to this song? I used to play this record on my grandparents record back in the 1940s and it seems I remember in the song that his girl friend died, "good God she was lying there dead. So I went on down to the barroom and I drunk good whiskey til night, cause it hurt me so to see her there lying there so cold and white." It sounded like the same song if my memories serve me right. Love Jimmie Rodgers and all his songs.
This is great- new one to me- never really made the Blues connection with Jimmie- can ya dig up Peach Pickin Time In Georgia?- think Jimmie did that one
All I listen to is hip hop and I must say this is some good stuff.

Thank you for posting this, I only have it on 78... this sounds so much better, it's one of my favorites.
"I reached down for my razor, then we knocked around, but when I pulled my pistol, I quickly smoked him down," has to be the greatest line ever.
