Governor Lingle is probably only going to run for senate in Hawaii. She has done an outstanding job as Governor of Hawaii. I would like to see her run in 2012 as well, but she cannot win with her stances on abortion and gay rights. She is still catered to Hawaiian politics.

But she wasn't too busy to pal around with McCain and Palin when there were important state issues that had to be dealt with laying on her desk here. Lingle would have been a much better choice for VP.  The fact that she is from the GOP and elected to office in Hawaii shows her political skill, but the problem is that she comes from a state so dominated by Democrats and can't really consolidate the GOP base like Palin.

Lingle is simply trying out for a job in a McCain cabinet. Lingle was very good after the when interviewed about the debates on MSNBC, but that only made Palin look bad by example. This speech is stale though.

Having said that, Linda Lingle has done nothing but good things for our state. I respect her greatly, regardless of the party difference. She is kind, humble, and is a great person.

She has helped the homeless population of Hawaii move into transition homes so they can start anew.

The republican I respect most is Linda Lingle.

Isn't this technically hearsay? However, you are partially right. Unemployment is now at something like 3.9%, and is at a five-year high.

Also, you must consider. Lingle became the governor in 2002.

In 2001, the all-time high in unemployment was 5.2%. Then, she took office in December of 2002, when unemployment had dropped to 3.6%.

It sank to 2.2% in December of 2006, but has been slowly rising since.
