It's amazing how many morons think Tony Montana is some kind of role model. Let's take stock of his defining attributes shall we?

- He's a megalomaniac.

- He kills people for money.

- He chases after his boss' woman.

- He's addicted to cocaine.

- He's in love with his sister.

Yeah, great role model. In fact, the biggest achievement of Scarface lies with Oliver Stone and Brian De Palma's brass balls in putting such a deeply unlikeable character front and centre of their film for three hours.

Scarface is one of the best movies ever in my opinion, this because I like this kind of movies.

If you look at the standout darkly comic scenes (e.g.; shouting at the corpse in the car, sinking his whole face into the mound of coke) and the sheer OTT nature of the entire production (that piercing Moroder score whenever Tony's blinded by his red mist of jealousy), it's obvious that it's a semi-humorous commentary on 80s excess, really a few steps away in satirical tone from something like RoboCop. There's even a point where Elvira criticises how much swearing is in the film!

No, I don't forget that actually. I revisited the film a fortnight ago. ("Good day, motherfucker!") It's one of the most memorable parts and probably my favourite scene, not just because of how hilariously over the top it is, but that the closest Tony Montana can get to a moral code is by blowing a guy's head off at point blank range. Didn't just shoot him in the leg or throw him out the car - splatters his brains all over the place, and then screams and boasts to the bloody corpse!
