Good question! They originally were made by Imation, a spin off of 3M and I believe they were prototypes of a packaging machine for 3 1/4 computer disks since there was a pile of them around the machine. I think I might see if I can have the two machines pass slices of bread back and forth for the hell of it.
go to ur local garage and connect it to the line they use for the Phneumatic drills and stuff thatl make it go like fuck LOL better still buy one of those fucking huge MASSSSIIIIVVEEEE compressors LOL it will give u a gd laugh watching the machine go a bit mental LOL
Actually that is about as fast as those are supposed to run. Any faster and they wouldn't package the product correctly.

are they powered off compressed air?

Yep, I used a small air compressor to power the actuators. You can hear it turn on in the background.

put the speed up as fast as it goes!!

It's as fast as I can crank it. The compressor is too small to make the machine blistering fast.
