@TheDiddlysquat Executing after 48hrs is a good idea from your point of view but it would have "really" sucked for all the convicted persons who've had convictions quashed on appeal etc, the amount of wrongly executed people would also shoot up,dont take my word for it take a look at the statistics of people freed from death row or long term sentences..out of principal I do not agree with the death penalty & modern enlightened country's should not support it,

He pleaded not innocent and there was never a murder weapon recovered. A potentially innocent man was executed. The system is broken.

I fully supported the death penalty until I became a Christ follower. I now find concern in punishing murderers by killing. I fully support aggressive Law Enforcement and holding people responsible for their actions, to include jailing them forever. Kill for self-defense if needed, but killing for punishment just seems wrong, and its NOT justified in the Bible as Christ said to love one another. Lock them up for life if needed, but always love one another.

Maybe change the way trials are conducted? Or if the case is not clear, just don't sentence the capital punishment, but still, it should be present in the legal system.

People don't oppose the death penalty to support those who commit what everyone recognises as disgusting crimes. People oppose the death penalty because of the well documented abuse of the capital punishment system (all the innocent people wrongly killed), the realisation of the farce of the 'eye for an eye' mentality (especially when no one seems to bother to look at such crimes in the context of the ills of society as a whole). You can kill the murderer, but can't change what has happened.

DNA analysis has proven that many innocent are condenmed to death for which capital punishment must be abolished until a 100% error free process can be guaranteed.

In Europe, death penalty has been abolished for good.

In my opinion, I do think that putting a murderer to death only makes the people who kill them murderers also. Then wouldn't those murderers happen to have to be killed also? Then wouldn't the people who had to kill them off have to die as well? What kind of parole did his victim get? The brutality of the crime warranted him being executed. He would have gotten it easy. Lethal injection is the most humane way of execution - just ask the millions of dogs and cats that are euthanized each year. Geez - their failure to execute him ... if they didn't kill him - then they need to commute ALL murderers to life without parole. He has no soul, no conscious, so keeping him in prison the rest of his life won't make him sorry for what he did.

It seemed to be largely free of any of the usual "sensational" reporting that usual goes with these events - the interviews were straightforward with no clever video editing, she did not unnecessarily repeat gory details over and over about 50 times, etc...
