We found out about this 3 weeks ago - it`s very sad as this place has been part of family holidays for over 20 years.
How can Portugal claim to be a democracy when a 40 yr old family business is simply ruined in favour of a large company. It reeks of corruption. Where is the rule of law ?
It is sometimes said that the Algarve has avoided the excesses of the Costa owing to tight planning law. How does a 7 storey hotel fit that. It will be totally out of place and ruin the coastline.
we arrived the day after it was closed, and had been so looking forward to going. Having spent some time at the beach during our stay, the thought of this multi-story hotel, dominating the area, is not one I hope goes through as we are booked to come back next year.
I hope we can reopen Antonios and keep the beach open, it is so lovely there. We could not believe it when we arrived at antonios door last week and it was closed... We had waited all year to return.
The fences are up and work seems to have started on the hotel, which on the notice says it will be open in Feb 2012. Lets hope not
Nós os Costa Pereira que vivemos em França, à mais de 20 anos que visitamos o restaurante o António, adoramos o serviço, o sitio e os empregados e também não queremos que feche.
Antonio´s should definately not be closed in favour of the monstosity the government plan to build in it´s place. The whole thing stinks to high heaven of corruption & back handers to force through something that no one locally wants or needs but it´s obvious that some person or persons have a lot to gain financially from it.Follow the money & you´ll find out who those people are.
