The Hot Oil light on our 2010 Wrangler Sahara buzzed on the first time we took it up modest forest service road - something the average 2-wheel drive pickup could handle. Stopping every five minutes or so to let it cool off, it took two hours to get back down to the highway. 5,000 miles, took it to the dealership and they insisted nothing was wrong with it. If the stereo had been playing, I’m sure the Jeep & forest would have gone up in flames. I will never by another Jeep.
Automatic transmission sensor fault. Transmission overheats and sprays oil on the motor. Exactly what happened to my 2008 brand new jeep wrangler. Got the recall in the mail from jeep 2 years after mine burnt.
to me its fucking chrysler burning the jeep legend to the ground. they need to fix this right away so when i get ready to buy a jk i wont see it in flames within a month of ownership.

I dont think it's likely to be an insurance scam, these jeeps catch on fire all the time, it's freakin scary, but if people want to keep buying them knowing that that they're getting a cheaply built POS, then they can wear the consequences. There are plenty of better 4WD's around.
JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS - BEWARE!!!! I can also attest those vehicles catching on fire. My son's new 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4 x 4 Sahara with only 3100 miles caught on fire. Thankfully, they were able to get out before it blew up. Jeep/Chrysler's response - can find no reason why.
All these youtube mechanics drive me nuts, but you actually posted a legitimate response, and sounds like it could happen, quite easily if it overheated.
yea just today as of June 28, 2009, i saw a Jeep Liberty on fire here in San Antonio, TX. IDK how it started but i was checking the mail and happened to look over to see this car burning.
No demande a nadie, solo cambie de marca, y me pago el seguro, fuera de eso, tengo muchos comentarios de personas que viven en USA que ya les paso lo mismo.
A LOT of them are catching fire while on the road or parked. electrical problems and transmissions running so hot they puke fluid out the vent onto the convertor. POOR design!!!
if you own one DO NOT park it inside your garage!!!!
i race the hell outta my 92 and 07 both stick. I wish one would burst into flames that would be so intense and make a great story. I do have a fire extinguisher on the 92 because i have a custom stereo with miltiple amps.
yea leave you jeep in 4wd and it burns to the ground ..ahhahahahh what a joke what are you a push bike mechanic and maintain what its 05 it would of had needed like 2 oil changes by now .its a jeep WHY ARE THEY GOING BANKRUPT >>>>? FIRE
My 2008 Jeep Wrangler has had the trans burn up. It was replaced, and is still overheating. I'm lucky enough that it hasn't caught the whole vehicle on fire. They keep refusing to fix it, or take it back. You might see a video of my jeep up here very soon, along with the messages from the service center stating that my jeep is *perfect*
The new JK wranglers had some electrical problem where it would short out, overheat and burn it to the ground pretty quickly just by driving down the road...it has nothing to do with the driver in this case. So you might want to research the issue before opening your yap. :D
well for ur information i OWN a 08 wrangler, and 2 jeeps before it. i do agree that not 100% of the jeeps are made without any problems. but i don't know the case here in this video, for all i know, the driver might've left it on 4x4 while going down the highway or racing it like a sports car without doing proper maintaince to the jeep.
Vehicles that new don't burn down spontaneously because someone left the 4x4 on...it's a mechanical 4x4 system, not electrical, and it doesn't produce nearly enough heat to cause a fire even if driven on the road.
This is a KNOWN, CHRONIC issue with the earlier JK wranglers. It makes no difference how many Jeeps you've owned in the past, this is a JK issue. If yours hasn't caught on fire (yet), consider yourself lucky, and keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
my new 08 jeep wrangler caught fire last night :( just got back from the bar and 20mins later i was up in flames i was parked no idea what happend oh and yes i will still buy a new one love em
I completely understand.....my husband's 2008 Jeep Wrangler burst into flames while riding down the interstate!!!! We have heard of 4 others burning as well. I hope someone doesn't DIE before this is fixed!!!! We hope to have our video up in the next couple of days!!!
well, occasionally, there are lemon cars from the factory, thus lemon-laws :P But i highly doubt you were just driving down the road when it caught fire.
That sucks! Supposedly there was a recall for blower motor electrical fire which starts under the dash. Don't know if it applied to the 2008's or not.
i wouldn't trust this vid. yeah it's possible, anything is possible. but it doesn't show how it started. "it just started to burn" well what were they doing, could have burned up a clutch or transmission doin something..you never know what people could do, maybe even a cigarette
Shit Happens ever heard it? Jeeps are badass but sometimes idiots at the factory make mistakes or there's always recalls dont loose hope yet.I nave had mine for 3 1/2 years and no problem

Well, if you're a mexican don't buy a jeep: they don't like you and therefore burn up in flames.

Yeah auto transmission
topvid69 3 years ago
Were you driving it slightly hard? The transmissions puke out a little fluid when hot and sometimes that causes the fire.
