  • 0:14 i was drinking water then i saw the huge thing that i laughed so hard the water went up my nose :(

  • so if you have no air in the glass, the only forces acting on the paper are the water acting down and atmospheric pressure acting up. When you take the atmospheric pressure in feet of water, you get about 33 feet of water. this means (surface tension in consideration) you could have a 33foot cup filled with water, and still keep the paper on there.

  • I do not know if you are still looking for an explanation, but AKangarou is wrong. the same number of molecules occupying more space is just, lower pressure.

anyway, in this case the paper is being held on by tension. Water can have a tensile strength of 30x10^6 N/m^2, where if you do the math and convert, it would work out that the paper/cardboard would be held up. I think normally this trick is done with no air in the glass. Air in the glass will be at atmospheric pressure.

  • dont steel my word!!!

  • @josuave10 I don't even know what this means.

  • @josuave10 dont steel? its steal

  • @degreat77 Because were not at smart as you are. PS. Why idiots? Why did you pluralize me, am I more than one person?

  • lmao my wife's gonna be pissed!

  • just how long did it take you to clean all that water up?

  • i love 0:58 :X

  • And then if you were a physics teacher you would have a laminated cared and you would slowly slide the card out from under the glass (my teacher used a Jar) and the water would be held up by the suction created. To do this though you would need a narrower glass or a jar. She even held it and let us look up at the water floating before our vary eyes, IT WAS INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Luv this vid!

  • i loled when he dropped the cup

  • the best thing to do is probably go out side

  • looks like you gotta lot of water to clean up

  • i did it on the 1st

  • haha this humor is amaizing :D :D

  • My wifes gonna be pysed! Lol:)

  • HAHA. thumbs up for cool pants! hell yeah.

  • It happens because the air pressure pushing up on the paper is stronger than the water pushing down...my teacher used this a week ago to show that air pressure pushes in all directions. JSYK

  • have fun cleaning lol

  • 9 people don't like pingpong

  • can gieco really save you 15% or more on car insurance..........are comericals gay*.....gieco, 15 mins can save you 15% or more on car insurance

  • LOL "My wife is gonna be pissed"

  • get some wut?

  • @gintoclopus It's a reference to ericsurf6....

  • sto coglionazzo ha allagato la casa per fare un video di merda xD

  • 3 people tried this and failed and there wife was pissed at them lolololololol.

  • hey can he get a mop over here lol

  • Try doing that outside next time

  • "Do I ever break anything?"I break anything I look at!

  • Hahahahahahahhahahahhahahahaa my wife is gonna be pissed

  • i've broken a wine glass on the same way

  • haha i knocked down one of my moms wine glasses but she didnt like it anyway so i got off scott free :D

  • i totally loled at 1:10

  • Haha Root, I almost broke a glass trying it out before uploading a vid XD thank god I don't have a wife though >:P

  • was your wife pissed?

  • @coolshots77 She was actually pretty cool about it. It wasn't one of her good glasses.

  • I like the part at 1:05!

  • i broke something it was a glass door i ran into it

  • Watch you don't slip.

  • Root i like ping pongs to

  • Root you always make me laugh. Awesome video

  • @TheSytycdfan Thanks, it really was fun trying to work this thing out.

  • Haha. That was great! I wana go try... O_O

  • Maybe you should of done the trick outside. LOL!

  • lol

  • hey thaat awesome sooo dude u guys skate

  • lol my wifes going to be pissed

  • basic physics. pressure outside keeps the paper/cardboard in place because the water pushes down on the cardboard thus creating low pressure inside.

the pressure difference does the trick. so it is in equilibrium

  • Awesome! I like the glass!

And I like how you just stand there saying, "uh-oh!" as the water slowly drips all over the floor. :P

    Good luck! =)

  • hahaha! laughed super hard!

  • That's awesome! Ha ha ha!!!

  • @kjthebirdman Thanks brother, how have you been?

  • todays quest answer: millions fo things

  • how do u do that

  • You should of asked Eric to repay you for the glass by sending you a Get Some box :D

And that glass is huge! Where'd you get it? Imagine if you dropped it though~ XD

  • @PolarityArt We use the big glass in our show, Bill balances it on a pedestal and we put a ballon on top of it, with water in the balloon and water in the big glass. I pop the ballon, while it's balance, with a blowgun and Bill keeps the entire thing balanced. It's a fun bit in the show.

  • yes our window in the living room i was using a bouncyball

  • ROFLMAO awesum

  • Hi dude! This is my frist time, when I'm watching your videos. This video make me sure to visit your channel and possibly subscribe! now I'm going to watch your other videos! =) This is a great video, and I hope you're one of the winners of the Get Some boxes. I've already done my entry too.

And yes, I've broken different stuff. About 2 years ago i broke my orthodontics, and new ones cost me over 100 €. That was little bit creepy to tell mom about that. I've too broke my first moped.

  • @TheAnttila Little corrective: Actually they weren't orthodontics, they were hawley retainers. :P

  • @TheAnttila Thanks for checking out the video and subscribing, I like your entry and you already have a bunch of views on your video, rock on.

  • Someone is gonna have to clean this up. "Ohhhhhh Bill" !!!!

    Have fun cleaning.

  • The whole time I was watching this, I just kept thinking "If that was my husband, i would kick some ass!" lol Good thing she laughed it off =) Cool trick

  • "my wiffe gana be pissed" lol nice job Jonathan

  • Nice1. btw, next time try doing the trick outside ;~)

  • @cmcc212 I orginally planned to do it outside but liked the fact that I had a counter to set my stuff on in the kitchen, plus, I had easy access to water.

  • this was amazing lol the comedy and attempts were great!!

  • do you like cleaning? :P

  • @twinjuggling I like making a mess....

  • @rootberry So your floor was completely wet afterwards and you left it alone? :D

  • @Feilanna It's really hot here in Florida so it evaporates quickly.

  • Man, that was so funny!

  • @TyYann Thanks, it took me a while to find something that I found interesting enough to make a video, I did not just want to repeat what Eric had done, I came up with this while I was supposed to be sleeping, then it took me an entire day before I had a chance to try it. I'm trying to get taxes done.... Hope you are well.

    Pourquoi riezvous? Hahaha

  • @rootberry Sometimes video ideas comme like that.

One day I was driving my car on the way to record my radio show, with only 2 hours of sleep the night before, and I got the idea of my "Message to EricSurf6" video. Back from my radio show, I recorded and edited it in less than 3 hours... Not bad when you know my computer crashed several times in the process...

  • @TyYann It happens to me all the time, as soon as I try and go to sleep I start getting ideas. I've even woken up in the middle of the night with ideas. It's just the way my brain functions. Speaking of sleep, I am off to try and get some, ha get some! It's 1:19am here. Be well, P.S. I tried to find the Message to Ericsurf6 but could not find it on your channel. If you want you can send me a link. Root

  • run out and buy a new one now! Then you'll be safe!

  • @APOKALYPSE34 It's too late she's seen the video. She had to laugh because of the entire mess I made, (yeah, I had it cleaned up before she came home).

  • Lol, I love these tricks. I think it has to do with the fact that as the water tries to "fall" it needs to be replaced by air to equalize the interior pressure with the atmospheric pressure. The cardboard and water prevent that from happening. Maybe something about surface tension too. You should try it with something that has less surface tension and see if it still works.

  • Haha, Nice!

    -DCS2

  • I was hoping for a video response from you guys! Fantastic. You're entered in the contest.

  • @ericsurf6 It truly was fun to make the video, thanks for having the contest. I was tying to sleep the other night after watching your video and the thought came to me that I could try it with the snifter glass, I could not sleep for four hours after that, it made my mind come alive (I stayed up till 7 in the morning).... You rock brother, we hope everything is well with you.

  • NIce work :D

  • "my wife is gonna be p***ed" Lmao.

    Love your videos dude!

  • Look at my neck when I drop the glass, that is stress my friends, something I try to avoid.

  • And an escape finally becomes available if the glass is tilted (The water no longer forms a perfect seal, and the air can escape through the small crevace.)

I haven't taken physics in years, though, part of my logic may be flawed. More or less, I'm sure it's the same reason some needles feel "stuck" when pushed all the way out.

  • I'm pretty sure that the water essentially "traps" the air in the glass inside, and without tempurature or container size shift, the air pressure has to remain constant. if any of the water were to get out, it still wouldn't allow any air to do so, and that would cause the air to have a lower pressure, having the same number of molecules/atoms occupy more space, which just won't be allowed to happen in the world of physics. So, no water comes out until air finds a passageway to escape

  • @AKangarou Thanks for the explanation, you actually explained it in a manner which I understand. It was really fun working out how to get the vase/snifter glass to stick to the cardboard, I started out with a life cereal box, but the cardboard was too thin, once it got wet it would be useless. I had to use a thicker piece of cardboard, it was heavier but once it got wet it did not lose it's rigidity. Again thanks for the explanation.

  • Was she pissed.... Oh well..... Shouldn't be juggling in the kitchen anyway. :-)

  • @5bJuggla yeah, my son and I seem to do a lot of destruction in the kitchen, there's so many fun things to break. hahaha

  • haha awesome video =]

  • Haha Awsome.

  • hahahahahahaha dude your awesome i like you! im going to sub toyour channel

  • @hakreme o i already am subbed to you lol

  • OMG LOOOOOL

  • ,,ssıd ǝq ɐuuoƃ sı ǝɟıʍ ʎɯ„ pǝs ǝɥ uǝɥʍ oɐɟɯן ı

  • wow u actually did it....i was thinking of using krazy glue......just so i could maybe get one of those wasabi kit-kats!!!!!!

  • hahahhahaa XD

  • ROFL!!! "my wifes gunna be pissed"

  • yea!!!!!!!!!

  • XD next try with flaming pants
