outstanding work. In the louder, more exiting sections of the piece, there was a great balance between melody and accompaniment in each hand. I feel that sometimes a lot of pianists over exaggerate the melody, making it sound almost bare.

This guy has got no clue as to how to play the ballade. Completely hollow, his playing, no frame, no storytelling, no artistry, just silly jumble of notes.
"This guy" is far closer to the Paderewski duo-art recording of the work than anything we've heard in many years. Fine colour, solid architecture, vivid playing - a highly satisfying performance.
f, I heard it in a program of Chopin works at the mechanical instruments museum at Leiden, the Netherlands so cannot upload. The style was not 'tender', rubato more confined, overall shape more aggressive. On the evidence,I suspect Paderewski, Busoni and contemporaries would not be altogether welcome in recital today.
I find points to discuss in Uinskas's performance, but can't bring myself to write him off so brutally as you do.
What a combination of talents, great conception, great execution, perfect musical expression, incredible singing tone and linear scaling. I have only found this total package in the playing of the late Dinu Lipatti. Bravissimo!
And another edit at 6:46. The Maestro is obviously a very gifted pianist if he could pull off this masterpiece, so I don't think it's because he screwed up badly. I think it's some joker's idea of trying to save videotape or something and didn't think anyone would notice. Yep, I did.

Where can I hear Paderewski's version of Chopin's ballad #4? Would you upload it to YouTube?

Some very nice playing, but the last theme variation is way too fast for me. It doesn't sound "improvised" if played too fast.

very nice. The great teacher Maria Curcio
always says that when a pianist masters this piece then they are a consummate artist.
Shame about the cut at 6:45

Anyone notice the edit at 1:08 and a whole section of the beginning main theme removed? Hmmm, very suspicious.

He has a great facility. And I find the coda better than even zimerman's.Very intensive and passionate coda.
