@ukpian8941 if 48 fights in K-1, 38 wins (22 KOs), 9 loss and 1 draws does not mean something to you, just look at the vid and stop saying bullshit man! You have your opinion, that's a fact...but he's not pathetic...praticing and being a legend in kick boxing, muay thai or whatever, means fight till the end, no way to escape, you just stay and fight even if it's difficult
@ukpian8941 I hope that's sarcasm or something. Do your homework on Andy Hug. I'd take out more time to steer you in the right direction but I just don't want to. However I will take a moment and say leukemia and a broken toe also, if you don't know your history don't say shit.
some one with serious disease could fight til the last round without getting down and could make a person as tough as ernesto hoost had nose bleed.. Andy is a very2 great fighter. i wish he never had those fucking leukimia.
why is the 96 match between this 2 is flagged?? im 16 and i love kickboxing it ticks me off not able 2 watch it on the internet when its supposed 2 be free for everybody :(
guys he's a kyokushin karateka......they hv the best conditioning.......check out all the kyokushin guys they hv great condition.......eg. francisco filho
andy was not affected by leukemia in that time because acute is something very fast and deadly...diseases like acute leukemia in this case could start max 40 days before he died.Andy had leukemia for few days or 2 weeks maybe before he died. If he had classic leukemia I think he and all of his trainers would see that earlier and andy would stop fighting and went to kemotherapies and could very likely be cured....he was the best fighter of all time and to me always no.1
@liorkle totaly !!! and HE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!! + his fight a few weeks before was crocop IN HIS PRIME which he beat as well......so yeah total badass indeed.
part 2 from wikipedia, why andy lost this match: ..: ....As early as in the first round, the groin injury that he had sustained a month earlier became acute. This handicap was so severe that he could not employ his legs as he was used to doing, and dropped a decision...
infact he doesn´t drop any high kick or low kick for 2 last rounds. Hoost is an amazing fighter but what a pity that Andy was injured. God bless them both.
from wikipedia that´s why andy hug lost. let´s notice, he was already 35 years old, impressive age for that level of fight: ...1999 was the most successful year for K-1 since its inception. Record numbers of spectators were recorded for all tournaments. In the first half of that year, Andy provided his fans with sensational fights. However at the World Grand Prix, fate wrecked his plans. In the second bout, he was up against Ernesto Hoost...
Those K1 tournaments were stacked with legendary kickboxers. Andy and Hoost meeting in the quarter finals. Mr Perfect was on in that fight but Hug showed ridiculous
amount of heart to not go down from the shots he took especially to his legs and kept coming foward.
@codmw2profi That's ridiculous. He lost this fight because Hoost is a great fighter, trained in a great style. This fight is a good example of why Dutch kickboxing has come to dominate kickboxing as a whole.
Single actions being answered with combinations. It's been the story of how the Dutch conquered the K1 and any other place in kickboxing untill fighters from other countries also began to use the same methods.
@desimation This is the type of comment/highest rated comment I like to see, not this "Oh I hate it when this happens" or "Thumbs up if plz" crap, ones that actually contribute and aren't a spoiler.
I think Hug had the most heart, but for pure skill, Hoost is probably supreme. The way he combines punching and kicks is a thing of beauty. Also his defense was great. Look at the replay at 9:17 where he ducks that punch. For a tall guy to do that against a shorter guy is DAMN hard.
Yeah..common in Muay Thai, and they do that in Kyokushin too... Hug was used to fighting taller fighters, he had his own advantages, and probably didn't complain about it.
