I had to get that comment out of my system. Now I can say that I was addicted to Maiden for years and this album came out at the perfect time for me. Ninth grade. I had started on Piece of Mind. I went back & bought the first 3 albums, then Powerslave when it came out & Somewhere In Time when it came out. When I heard this song I could tell Maiden had gone to a different level. The second part of this track is mind-blowing. Nicko will always be a huge drumming influence on me.

I remember seeing a documentary of Maiden in some eastern European country and some guy comes up to Bruce and tells him that he wants to make heavy metal music using synthesizers. Bruce tells him that you can't have synths in heavy metal. I guess Bruce kinda went back on his word. There were synths on Somewhere In Time too. This song is like Rime of the Ancient Mariner on Powerslave & Alexander the Great on Somewhere In Time. By that I mean long & epic. I love 'em to this day.

Has a very "Ancient Mariner" feel about it. How epic was that !!! I do think that the guitar work these days gets a bit too complicated with Janick in there. Back then it was so clean and simple. Dave, Adrian, Dave, Adrian, Dave... they knew each other so well, knew their place, very in tune with each other and the sound benefited from this.
