  • WHAT is the song he sings at 5:22 ???

  • @gabedom420 "The Umbrella Man"

  • @YouToons100 thank you!!

  • What's up with the claim to be a technicolor picture but then appear in B/W? O_o

  • @6891man it's b/c this version of the cartoon was originally in color from when it was retraced in the 70's and then reverted to greyscale

  • Verdi, no! sexteto from Lucia de lammemoor by Donizeti

  • I love how all nine lives sing Verdi so badly.

  • whoever uploaded this thank-you!!!

  • Wow, this was made in 1941!

  • What was the crash at the end when the angel cats was singing?

  • @CrnSal Probably Porky blowing off his head with the rifle.

  • @princegalena

    YIKES!! =O

  • @CrnSal At least that's how it sounded to me as a kid.

  • @princegalena

Was it THAT nescessary to do that?!

  • @CrnSal porky shooting the cats down

  • @YouToons100

    XD

  • @CrnSal presumably porky jumping out of the window at wits' end

  • The ending when the cats sing, gave the biggest creep out of me when i was a kid

  • I just love Chi Mi Frena En Tal Momento. It's such a beautiful song.

  • i thought it was clampett's

  • @2000rubs Nope, DVD. It's on a title called, "Toon Factory: Cooking With Gags". It's one of those titles DigiView created for Wal-Mart that sold for like $1 apiece, but legal problems stopped them from creating more titles.

  • @2000rubs Yep

  • @2000rubs Essentially everything but the title card is in the lower pitch. I know I said it once or twice and I'll say it again, this is exactly what the cartoon looked/sounded like when I first got it. @vmpickle123 has by far the best version of this cartoon on YT.

  • @2000rubs That was how "it was done" back then. Usually, Porky and Daffy were the main stars of the Looney Tunes franchise, and therefore their heads are "the norm", however there were more one-shots coming up through the years, like "I Got Plenty of Mutton", "The Haunted Mouse", and "Puss and Booty".

  • ♫where did you get them peepers♫ LMAO

  • I love it when the little fucker is tuning his voice to torture thr poor pig

  • What Porky's paintings look like here, I can't say... It could be Picassos (particularly those seen at 6:50-6:55) that were put in a meat grinder, got pissed on like carpets by someone then burned down to ashes. And there you have your own 1968 Korean painting! But seriously, there was a Picasso painting (or at least a very faithful lookalike) in the original version.

  • he sings jeepers creepers at 5:38

  • this is the original

  • sigaro sigaro sigaro sigaro sigaro

  • Black and WHite and Grey and Greyscale Yucki Picture Show

  • @EspioArtwork If it has Meatloaf in it, I'm sold!

  • A Dark Version!

  • I have it in color actually, but I don know how to upload or anything, hehe. I didn't even know it was in black and white before actually.

  • @Meezletoe VHS though

  • There is a similar cartoon just like this except it's with Elmer Fudd and Sylvester the cat. I think it is called Backyard Uproar or something like that. It's funny too

  • @annross5 You're close. It was called BACK ALLEY OPROAR.

  • love the singing at the end, lol

  • Did you edit this one?! Not to be rude, but I DO NOT recall any black-and-white cartoon with a AAP graphic and a 1944 Looney Tunes graphic. THIS cartoon was originally aired in 1941.

  • This, and I am not joking, is the exact way I got this copy. I have another copy with color intact, but that is on a VHS tape, this came from DVD. Never forget this: public domain cartoons are often fudged with!

  • @BadBooking It was the Merrie Melodies AAP prints that had the Merrie Melodies theme play over twice, while the Looney Tunes AAP prints played the Merrie Melodies theme over the AAP titles and then played the Looney Tunes theme (as here).

  • Not to mention it's the redrawn colorized version from the '70s... in black and white.

  • I'd like to see the computer colorized version. That was the first version I saw when it used to air on Nickelodeon.

  • This is great!!! I remembered this cartoon the other night and I searched long and hard on google to find the title. I had this on VHS a long time ago. All I could remember was the cat singing Figaro. I'm so happy I found this. 5/5 stars!!!!!

  • This has to be one of my all time favorite Looney Tunes cartoons. I had a color version of this one on VHS when I was a kid. Does anyone know where I can find the color version online? Thanks!

  • @FrozenUSA

I'm uploading it now. It's cool to see the original black & white version though.

This is one of the best Porky cartoons. It's hilarious how the cat drives Porky crazy. Porky makes it 9x worse by killing him.

  • 4:55 LMAO!

  • Also, does anyone know if there's a colored version of this specific one

  • yes. I believe one does exist. I have this on VHS

  • thx for this. My mom has been beggin me to find this specific one. She knows all the songs by heart (always thought she was just crazy)

    PS: this one's for Angie

  • OMGOSH thank you so much for posting! I havent seen this since I was a kid!

    thank you.

  • 2:04

    LMFAO

    XD

  • my absolute favorite part of this cartoon is when he's directing that song in front of the radio.. it cracks me up just thinking about it omg

  • super,just perfect:X:X:X

  • I remember this as being the first cartoon I remember! Watched it on WFIE in Evansville, Indiana around 56 or 57.

  • my family grow with looney toons when first

    comeout and now

  • I like in the beginning it say "in technicolor" but its in black and white

  • @jamesberkhimer because the colorized version was done later and is still under copyright? They probably just took the easier-to-find color version and reverted it back to grey-scale.

  • funny i always thought sylvester did this

  • this cartoon was remade with elmer fudd and sylvester a few years later

  • 2:05 XD

  • Is there a color version of this cartoon?

  • yes.

  • Where is it? Is it here on Youtube?

  • yes. search up. Notes to you porky and you will find it.

  • I found it! Thanks a lot! =D

  • this cool

  • I wish there was a REAL black and white version of this around.

  • 6:18 Porky grabs his gun and shoots the cat, who manages to gasp out a chorus of Aloha 'Oe, and dies.

No joke. I got this off of wikipedia

  • I love the intro's to warner brother cartoons and films

  • It's the "Sextette" from "Lucia Di Lammor", 'Super' (the same closing gag used in "Back Alley Oproar").

  • oooooh. cat sings rock a bye baby.

"yawns" that song is enough to effect even the audience...if you're sensitive enough.

  • Why if this cartoon was uncut that cat would have a hole in his chest and he be coughing up blood just like Vegeta did when he got blasted by Frieza's Death Beam

  • Comment removed

  • Ohhh My goodness...I just had the best laughs with my daughter. This had always been one of my favorite episodes of Porky Pig. I'm glad to have share it with my princess.

  • LOl,I Love This One,The Final Gag(Also in "Back Alley Oproar")was Funny,9 Ghosts of the 9 Lives of the Cat(/Sylvester,Also a Cat)

  • "Back Alley Oproar" was The Color Remake of this

  • I remember having "notes to you" cartoon on VHS, except it was remastered in color for better quality. Followed by "have you got any castles" and after that "plop goes the weasel."

  • my friend was singing the jeepers creepers song at work and i was like, where you hear taht from? and shes like the movie jeepers creepers then i remembered this cartoon, i watched it like 10 years ago lol... funny ish.

  • Killing one singing cat will bring out nine singing cat spirits. Where is number 4? There were eight of them in the end.

  • More Like 6,3 are Hiding

  • Great cartoon...

    "Figaro, Figaro, Figaro!"

"Any umbrellas, any umbrellas, to mend today?"

"Jeepers creepers...Where'd ya get those eyes..."

This and it's remake from 1948, with Elmer & Sylvester, were both terrific.

Today they'd never show this on TV, with the cat being shot. Heaven forbid there's violence in cartoons... but the crime shows are on every day.

Anyway, awesome cartoon, wonderfully written and with great, hand-painted animation. This was a golden age for cartoons.

  • i hsve this on tape

  • Lovely animation!Love this cat singing all

    the night!Great cartoon!

  • =)))omg the best loony toons episode

    :)) i love it.....under an umbrella 2 men stay....tudlamalamalama tudlei...=)))

  • I remember watching this episode when I was younger and now I have finally found it. It brings back so many memories.

  • I heard that there was a remake of this episode. AKA. "Back Alley Op Roar". Featured Elmer Fudd and Sylvester.

  • That is exactly it. It's also on the second Golden Collection, and "Back Alley" is a superior remake.

  • @BadBooking I dunno....I like this cat's voice better. I haven't seen it though.

  • yeah memories....

  • im glad you mentioned that cartoon. i wouldnt have watched it if you hadnt told everyone about it

  • Look the cartoons from that decade were created frame-by-frame all in hand?

  • LOL, this cartoon has stayed with me since I was a kid and I finally found it...good times!

  • Did Porky shoot himself at the end when the cats were singing

  • I know this episode

Do you have this on color

  • It's funny you mention color, because I used to have this on a 6-hour tape that was in its correct redrawn-color state. That is long-worn-and-thrown-out by now, and so my answer is no. I hope it gets released in a true B/W form on the LTGC though in the future!

  • Dis that 6 hour tape contain All This and Rabbit Stew? I think I know what tape you're talking about.

  • The original 1941 "Looney Tunes" title card had Porky balanced on top of a fence with musical notes and the "LT" logo on it, with Schlesinger's credit and NO "Technicolor" credit {they were released in black & white only in '41}.

  • If you want to check out something rare, hunt down a copy of "Joe Glow the Firefly", which is released by WB in 1941 and is directed by Chuck Jones. The beginning music is an anamoly, which means, its a one-off!

  • The numerals say 1944 :s

  • Again, this should tip you off this is a PD print. A 1944 blue-ring card with AAP/ a redrawn-in-color cartoon in black and white? Gotta love the PD brotha!

  • Amazing!

  • I believe that was the "Sextette" from the opera "Lucia", 'superlogan' {it was reprised at the end of Freleng's remake, "Back Alley Oproar" (1948)}.

  • I use to have this one on a tape but it went missing:( Thanks for uploading it :)

  • this is my alltime favo

  • PAUSE AT 2:04 LMFAO!

  • what song was featured in the end?

  • I know what it is, but the title escapes me. If you are also a gamer, you would regconize the song from the Double Cleff FM station in Grand Theft Auto III.

  • The Song is Luci De Lammor

  • Much better done as "Back Alley Oproar" (also here on YouTube) with Sylvester and Elmer Fudd.

  • I haven't seen this in a very long time, still evry enjoyable

  • Has this been turned black and white from colour. The only reason I ask is because at 21 seconds it says in technicolor.

  • The thing here is that this print is a Public Domain version, which means its been fooled around with. The intro comes from 1944, though the 1941 (the year in which this cartoon was made) is WAAAAY different. It's also the face that this cartoon is also the Korean redrawn version, so a good chunk of things in the animation are choppy. I hope this helps you at least slightly.

  • Also, the sound sounds slowed down, which I seriously hate.

  • Unfortunately, its a side effect of the age of the print and the transfer. There is a lot of this on a 6-hour tape from the 90s, or any PD tape for that matter.

  • The exact opposite of what Cartoon Network did with the most popular Bugs Bunny cartoons where they sped up the sound and time-compressed it.

  • its in glorious black & white

  • I used to watch this episode as a kid so often! Brings back so many memories

  • i luv this episode!!!

  • Every time the cat sings his lullaby, it makes my body light fire and I feel like going to bed myself.

does anyone feel the same way?

  • what im trying to say is his song makes me want to sleep.

  • Me too! I think that's why I remember this cartoon so well. It's perfect for when I can't sleep XD

  • Yeah sigh!!!1

  • la version de 1948 se puede encontrar como "elmer fudd y silvester" y se hizo en 1948.

  • lo que mas me gusta de esta caricatura es el final con la opera de donizzeti! esos coros bien valen la pena

  • NOW I'M GONNA BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF!!! settle down porky!

  • I HAD to logon when I watched this classic wonderful cartoon.Thank you for the blast to the past of the days when cartoons were fun! BRAVO!!!!!

  • ....has anybody noticed...at 2:23..the book title is'dr fu manchu'...and when it is thrown back in its'return of fu manchu'..very clever ;)

  • Well, since I'm replying here, I'm gonna address two things at once:

    1. This gag of "book throw" and "book return" are in many cartoons, especially the remake of this cartoon "Back Alley Oproar", and Porky's Bedtime Story (I believe that's the title)

    2. This is the Korean redrawn version which means it was redrawn to color, for very cheap, and very badly.

Thanks for all the positive comments!!! :)

  • 1. This gag of "book throw" and "book return" are in many cartoons, especially the remake of this cartoon "Back Alley Oproar", and Porky's Bedtime Story (I believe that's the title)

Reply: It's actually called "Porky's Badtime Story" (which, much like Notes to You and Back Alley Oproar, was also a black and white cartoon remade into a color version. The remake was called "Tick Tock Tuckered" and had Daffy en lieu of Gabby the Goat).

  • I remember watching this as a child! I still love looney toons ^-^. Thanx so much for uploading this =D

  • It probably was, 'weikko'. In Freleng's remake, "Back Alley Oproar" (1948), Elmer Fudd, although he becomes an angel at the end, jumps off his cloud (and falls back to Earth) to escape Sylvester's "nine lives" singing their hearts out of the "Sextet" from "Lucia"....

  • pense que nunca iba a volver a ver este cartoon...

    muchas gracias por subirlo

    thank you

  • i allways thought this one was from bob clampett!

  • No. Friz Freleng.

  • that's right heh they don't make those over the top facial expressions that every bob's cartoon has

  • This is the colorized version!

  • It seems that something was censored at the end, since we hear the sound of glass breaking but see no animation corresponding to it. Perhaps in the original it was Porky jumping through the window in order to commit suicide.

  • That's what I think, but that's only because I've seen the TV version of it. If it ever came out on the Golden Collection DVD set, then I could know for sure.
