Hi, sorry that I haven't replied earlier. I think that updating the firmware via playing a midi file full of sysex data is interesting, when it has a perfectly good USB port. This update adds LSB MSB commands via the old standard MIDI interface. I know that most people use USB, but I'm still playing around with a beige Mac G3, Opcode 64X interface & Opcode Studio Vision. I'm about to change all that though.
Thank you for creating this video. It is needed, since the readme included in Yamaha's firmware zip file leaves one clueless on how to update the firmware correctly. The Motif has to be one of the worst pieces of hardware to update firmware for. What was Yamaha thinking by forcing us to do this???
Pardon the audio being in mono, it was shot on my iPhone, edited in iMovie on my iPhone, and then uploaded straight to YouTube. I've only had been using the Motif for a few hours when I shot this, that explains why I kept reaching for the power/volume knob....and hit exit before I stored the change.
This video was shot over the course of about 2 hours. The instructions I had, walked me through most of what you see. They did not walk me through the Cubase part. So when the Motif didnt show
