jajajajjaa jajajjajajjajaja ok I've seen your videos and bealive me you are way to far from giving advice to any person who is interested in martial arts nevertheless it´s ok, have a good time
I totaly disagree with you, if you don´t go to a martial arts school who is going to tell you the mistakes you make and practicing using a dummy it´s ok but a dummy doesn´t defend itself you can break a brick even a piece of concret but still they don´t atack you. I would like to see a video of yours in a fight then I might understand your point, besides I can´t understand everything you are saying.
@flyingaj1 once again you make the fallacy that the person may not also attend seminars or (gasp) submit videos to an instructor who does a video response review even.
Without a proper teacher it isn't real study. Its arrogance. I love the availability of info but only as long as it doesn't lead to overconfidence and a subsequent ass whoopin. THEN you'll go to a teacher huh? Bujinkan,Jeet Kun Do, Shaolin and every one of my teachers irreplaceable let alone by a video.
Very good advice. I've always found that most of my training is by myself a bit each day with just a couple of session each week under instruction with others. Sretching, katas and kickbag drills all done at home. Now I find many great videos on youtube for new interesting ideas and also to keep the enthusiam going. Martial artists today are so lucky to have all of these resources available to them. Videos like yours are very encouraging and positive.
Yeah I always wish I had a resource like this when I was younger and being able to watch and learn from others. Thanks i really try to stay positive and put out good video's.
Sparing pardners help a lot. To fight with and to do drills with. Just grab a friend who has interest and that helps a lot for home training. Not always easy to find a solid training pardner :(
Go and have a look, first on youtube to see what's interesting, than take the free training available in every martial arts school. After doing all, the that looks the most interesting or appealing is the one for you. Every martial art can be adjusted to anyone, so don't fear for your constitution.
i want to join a martial arts but i dont know what i should go to and i dont know really of what types there are. i dont know if the shape of your body really matters but im tall and thin (6"1) i want something to match what im able to do because im pretty fast and i go around town doing small amounts of parquor (spelt it wrong) even though i suck at it its still fun and it helps keep me exercised.
there is a whole world of martial arts out there. There are many ways to learn go to the library and find as many books as you can about different martial arts they will really help.
You can get yourself ready for a teacher or a class to save money by body conditioning first depending on what art you wish to do. Then move to a class to learn to a good level then you can watch moves and pick them up but you still will not see the hidden part unless you are shown by a teacher if that makes sence.
I train about 1-3 people at once to give them the best training and my time as i can.Training 2 people at once is best as I can show them then sit back and watch there whole body.
Also, if you are training for self defense only, it is extremely important to limit your techniques to a maximum of two or three per situation, but best of all is one very strong one, otherwise when the situation happens you will be thinking about which technique to use instead of acting. To fight in a dojo or dojang you need variety but in the real world you just need the element of surprise and a couple of good techniques that you know very well. Peace.
All very true, but books can correct bad principles. By distilling wisdom they are very important. Do not devour a whole book. reading quick is not the goal. I always say read one or two similar techniques, and then spend 2 or 3 weeks thinking about it, reflecting on it and practising it.
This man is absolutely right to try out everything for real, even if not on an instructor, at least on a willing friend.
Yes I will devour a book at first then re read critically to connect the points across the book from chapter to chapter. Because it all come together eventually.
Don't get me wrong, books and videos are useful but only as a reference. True training comes from your teachers and schools. Miyamoto Musashi included in "A Book of Five Rings" that the book is a guide not a teaching tool.
What I meant was that Books and Videos can only instruct you so far, they're a guide not your teacher. I mean, you've read "A Book of Five Rings" right? Miyamoto Musashi offers the book as a reference for your training but also tells you to seek tuition.
I have to say that I agree, a lot of problems with using books or videos for any kind of physical learning is not a great idea. The reason being that if you misinterpret something then no one is there to correct you. Videos are better than books with this but there are still misinterpretations and that can be dangerous and in fact deadly if you were to attempt to apply them to the real world. Understand that I've never gone to a formal school but I never use something off a video until I test it
Edit: You should learn the basics from a teacher, and then try to learn by yourself, thinking about it, not just mindlessly training. How do you think those teachers got so great in the beginning? It defently wasn't from learning from somenoe, you have to learn to think on your own and decide what is better. If you can't do that, then I suggest a teacher. Even better, if you can, get a teacher, then try to grow on your own from there --
Well, my family is quite poor sooo, this is all I've got for a very long time. I'm 17 and I live in a college town, meaning I can't get a job. Btw, there is a Shoalin Monk temple that just opened up in California, you should check it out.
yes I agree, when you don't have the funds for a school, the next alternative is to learn from videos and such. Just try your best that is all we can hope for.
Do you have a source for this information? He learned his gung fu at the China Drama Academy in Hong Kong. Not exactly a Golden Gloves kind of place.
If he has these excellent martial arts skills, perhaps you can name a person, time and place he has won or at least participated in a fight for everybody.
He's an amazing athlete and performer and he entertains us. Why do we have to believe that he really IS what he plays in his movies? Did you know Morgan Freeman isn't actually God?
You talk too much and dress too much and think you are what you are not. The key thing to learning a martial art is to find a teacher who is a real martial artist and not a wannabe, or a fake. You as an individual must have respect, discipline and perseverance.
I have a question, I live in a part of the city with no schools or trainers because we are in the outskirts of edmonton, but i really want to learn, but i know if you just watch youtube videos i will develop many bad habits. Dose this mean Martial Arts isn't for me?
Although you may need a teacher or trainer, look out for 5 things that give away if a teacher is really a bullshitto master:
1)Little kids with black belts
2)Bull Shit moves (Bullshit like, "Chi Knockouts", or other "HADUKEN-like" moves)
3)Discourages competition
4)Out of shape instructors
5)Spend more class time meditating or some other so called "Spiritual Training" then actual training. After each class, you should be physically exhausted
when you "train" from videos, you've got no one to watch and correct your progress, so you yourself might train, and perform in an incorrect way, plus the training is not "balanced" so to speak.. if you check on videos, most who do, just want to learn flashy kicks to...impress some one or try to actually fight someone, even if you DO try to actually learn the martial art itself...there is so much more behind it: strenght, balance, general fitness training which is essential in [continues...]
you learn about yourself, mental and spiritual things about yourself, how to breath, how to stay calm in a fight, how to take punches/kicks etc, how to meditate (which all helps into figting)
you also need
martial arts equipment
training partners
a teacher to watch you etc etc....
you also need the fitness
although it is possible to learn a little bit of martial arts from the net and books etc but you wont become the next Bruce Lee or a master
A student needs a teacher, no question! Learning from books and videos are dangerous because there is no qualified supervision going on. Your message is confusing, not to mention, I believe you still have a LOT left to learn. Now's the time to study as much of the application ( the obvious and hidden) of your technique and forms as well as train to accurately deliver those techniques. I've been training for over 20 years and I'm still discovering new ground. Good luck!
One of the best reasons to join a martial arts school is that u can always find a worthy opponent to spar with. Sometimes ur buddies may have work, school and other things that may interfere.
Also this may not be as effective as having a teacher but u can film urself in ur sparring matches and see what u need to work on.
Lets put it like this if you trained for years martial arts you CAN learn from youtube and books other MA , if you didnt I sugest you try some simple martial arts like boxing, kick boxing and muay thai they are in my opinion were simple to learn and very useful ... greetings
MMA a has rules and is like the opposite lf a real fight. All the places that i'm trying not to hit in a cage fight are the places i wanna hit in a real fight.
Your Thoughts Shinobi are backwards. You need a teacher first to show you the proper stance and basics first. Then after you have mastered the basics you can then move on to more difficult and advanced moves. You can NOT trian yourself in the bascis of what you dont know. yes you do need a teacher which equates to a school.
it is a sport but fighters use all the best moves from many differant fighting styles, look at cung le for instans he has learnt TKD as a kid when he got older he stared to do Muay Thai and now he's learning BJJ because it's the most dominent ground style
seriously are you stupid no disrespect TKD is one of the most used fighting styles in the world along with ju jutsu, hell the brazilions made their own style of it to fit their biger bodys and they did a wonderful job. i bet if i used half of what i know from Shorin-Ryu (the hard soft style) you would exost your self throwing punches that do absalutly nuthing to me outher than tickle.
i took 6 years of TKD (one of the okanawan styles) 4 of Shorin-Ryu and 2 of kimpo karite and iv used it to
I myself trained in TKD for awhile, and then on my own for 3 years.I think the thing that abled me to train well on my own was having gone to a school, Im back at a dojo know, and I think that you should atleast obtain a black belt then train on your own.Like Shinobi mystic says youll need some one to point out the small details you dont notice. Great advice mystic!
Im proud to say I studied WTF TKD. Unfourtunately some things happened and I couldnt continue you there. But it was wonderfull while it lasted and my love for it has stayed with me throguh the years.
YeahI love kicking. Being in TKD really gives me an advantage over some of the other karateka in my school when sparring and help me won 4 tourneys this summer. one of the mactehs i did nothing but kick lol it was fun.
I Thought it important to answer your Question....YES...let me repeat, YES. If you are your own Lawyer, then you have a fool for a client. If you attempt to teach yourself Martial Art, You only stumble over your own ignorance. And there is NO NEED. a Teacher can show you the Proper way, instead of you bumbling around and attempting to figuer out what an experianced teacher already knows.
I have the same idea as you... My brother always argues with me that I suck at martial arts. Technically, I am still a white belt. (trained until 2nd belt) Although, I have self trained for nearly 3 years, and i'm sure I could stop a knife or gun attack by myself, but he says I would always be killed. It really annoys me that he tells me I couldn't win in many fights. Of course, I don't practice to fight at all, but he just tells me that I suck. I wish he would understand that I'm different now.
It sounds like he has got that big brother mentality. It is too bad he does not try to foster your talents. Keep up with your personal training and sharpen your skills my friend.
Of course, I even train someone else and he ignores me. It's alright though, he'll figure it out once he stops playing WoW and watches me train. (which he wont do any time soon)
i agree that you need someone to watch you. but you do not nececerally need a teacher. if you have learned skills from books, videos or the internet and have practiced, all you need is someone to watch you and tell you if the methods are working or not.
I have been finding what you said to be true, presently in my situation. I feel my imagination is a true sparring partner, when practicing strikes with focus and ferocity.
Your Imagination cannot punch you in the face with all the ferocity of a real attacker. You need someone to watch you learn your basics that way you are earning them right. Once yu have mastered those then you can set out on your own.
Great advice! but what is your take on shifting? expirementing with different martial arts and seing what you like or should you have what you take first as a staple?
Shifting is the base of my martial science. Just as all realms of science are interlocked so are the fighting arts. Learn the techniques that work the best and disregard anything else. Check out my series on Martial Science part I,II,III, and IV for more information. Peace be with you friend.
Finding someone to guide you on your learning is needed. From that person you'll learn want the techniques are supposed to look like. You'll remember the feel of the move and eventually be able to correct yourself without always having someone else correcting you.
Learning is a long path with many guides. Get great experience with others and by yourself. Training doesn't start with others but with you. Solitary training is just as important and group training.
Very good advice. I agree that nothing can take the place of training in a school or dojo; the group setting and positive environment works wonders for the individual. However, thanks to works continuously contributed by individuals such as yourself, Choson, etc people have an opportunity to at least begin should a dojo not be an immediate option.
Good advice man, i have no training at all, no knowledge, nothing, im looking to start somewhere, i just dont know where yet, but once i have everything figured out, and know what i wanna do, then a teacher might be the option i go for.

Clearly you need a teacher of martial arts, they give you concepts of culture, respect, tradition, are your guides ...
also can not teach yourself, your techniques would be substantially incomplete and defective
I recommend you look for a good dojo or doyang depends on what you train,
tells you a first dan black belt in taekwondo

jajajajjaa jajajjajajjajaja ok I've seen your videos and bealive me you are way to far from giving advice to any person who is interested in martial arts nevertheless it´s ok, have a good time
arquismart 2 years ago
I totaly disagree with you, if you don´t go to a martial arts school who is going to tell you the mistakes you make and practicing using a dummy it´s ok but a dummy doesn´t defend itself you can break a brick even a piece of concret but still they don´t atack you. I would like to see a video of yours in a fight then I might understand your point, besides I can´t understand everything you are saying.
arquismart 2 years ago
yeah check out the featured video on my channel. I think you do need a martial arts school now.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
you NEED a instructor a video can not tell you what you are doing wrong
flyingaj1 2 years ago
@flyingaj1 once again you make the fallacy that the person may not also attend seminars or (gasp) submit videos to an instructor who does a video response review even.

Without a proper teacher it isn't real study. Its arrogance. I love the availability of info but only as long as it doesn't lead to overconfidence and a subsequent ass whoopin. THEN you'll go to a teacher huh? Bujinkan,Jeet Kun Do, Shaolin and every one of my teachers irreplaceable let alone by a video.
Upnpersonal 2 years ago
it would be good to have a dummy to practice strikes on too

yeah I made mine.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Very good advice. I've always found that most of my training is by myself a bit each day with just a couple of session each week under instruction with others. Sretching, katas and kickbag drills all done at home. Now I find many great videos on youtube for new interesting ideas and also to keep the enthusiam going. Martial artists today are so lucky to have all of these resources available to them. Videos like yours are very encouraging and positive.
AussieSteve001 2 years ago
Yeah I always wish I had a resource like this when I was younger and being able to watch and learn from others. Thanks i really try to stay positive and put out good video's.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Sparing pardners help a lot. To fight with and to do drills with. Just grab a friend who has interest and that helps a lot for home training. Not always easy to find a solid training pardner :(
Wise words Mystic
SirJabsAlot 2 years ago
yeah it is hard to find a training partner and to get together all the time and be motivated.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
and even have the same goals together.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Go and have a look, first on youtube to see what's interesting, than take the free training available in every martial arts school. After doing all, the that looks the most interesting or appealing is the one for you. Every martial art can be adjusted to anyone, so don't fear for your constitution.

i want to join a martial arts but i dont know what i should go to and i dont know really of what types there are. i dont know if the shape of your body really matters but im tall and thin (6"1) i want something to match what im able to do because im pretty fast and i go around town doing small amounts of parquor (spelt it wrong) even though i suck at it its still fun and it helps keep me exercised.
landolandylandy 2 years ago
there is a whole world of martial arts out there.

Paullugg 2 years ago
Don't worry about it. Do what you do.
owenspence 2 years ago
Also, if you are training for self defense only, it is extremely important to limit your techniques to a maximum of two or three per situation, but best of all is one very strong one, otherwise when the situation happens you will be thinking about which technique to use instead of acting. To fight in a dojo or dojang you need variety but in the real world you just need the element of surprise and a couple of good techniques that you know very well. Peace.
aaronfromhastings 2 years ago
I agree a handful of techniques will only come to mind in a self defense situation.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
All very true, but books can correct bad principles. By distilling wisdom they are very important. Do not devour a whole book. reading quick is not the goal. I always say read one or two similar techniques, and then spend 2 or 3 weeks thinking about it, reflecting on it and practising it.
This man is absolutely right to try out everything for real, even if not on an instructor, at least on a willing friend.
aaronfromhastings 2 years ago
Yes I will devour a book at first then re read critically to connect the points across the book from chapter to chapter. Because it all come together eventually.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Schools teach you how to defend and better yourself. Videos and books teach you how to get killed.
TomNortherner 2 years ago
Really you have had no success with books or videos. I felt that there was alot of information my teachers left out.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Don't get me wrong, books and videos are useful but only as a reference. True training comes from your teachers and schools. Miyamoto Musashi included in "A Book of Five Rings" that the book is a guide not a teaching tool.
TomNortherner 2 years ago 2
What I meant was that Books and Videos can only instruct you so far, they're a guide not your teacher. I mean, you've read "A Book of Five Rings" right? Miyamoto Musashi offers the book as a reference for your training but also tells you to seek tuition.
TomNortherner 2 years ago
iit does just instruct your physical form but it also teaches you mentally
Buntou19 2 years ago
I have to say that I agree, a lot of problems with using books or videos for any kind of physical learning is not a great idea. The reason being that if you misinterpret something then no one is there to correct you. Videos are better than books with this but there are still misinterpretations and that can be dangerous and in fact deadly if you were to attempt to apply them to the real world. Understand that I've never gone to a formal school but I never use something off a video until I test it
Trublhappn 2 years ago
I so agree. I noticed you had "Zen in the Martial Arts" what a great book, one of my favourites. Peace

StuntPeanut 2 years ago
yes I agree, when you don't have the funds for a school, the next alternative is to learn from videos and such. Just try your best that is all we can hope for.

icecrimson 2 years ago
Yes we all need to start somewhere, I mean Bruce Lee created his own art.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
He didn't start by doing so. He started by learning from somebody else in person.
Why do you believe Bruce Lee matters? You do know he was an actor, right?
MrGalt 2 years ago
he was a master martial artist turned actor just like Chuck norris and all the others.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
All the others? Who would they be exactly?
MrGalt 2 years ago
like all the actors that are popular from doing martial arts, like Jackie chan, etc.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
So you believe Jackie Chan can fight too. I see. No further questions.
MrGalt 2 years ago
well I dont know him personally but I would believe so.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
Jackie Chan. Really?
No, I mean, really?
MrGalt 2 years ago
Jackie Chan, Was a martial artist, and was discovered for having excellent martial art skills, Not for acting.
vishugeta 2 years ago 2
Do you have a source for this information? He learned his gung fu at the China Drama Academy in Hong Kong. Not exactly a Golden Gloves kind of place.
If he has these excellent martial arts skills, perhaps you can name a person, time and place he has won or at least participated in a fight for everybody.
He's an amazing athlete and performer and he entertains us. Why do we have to believe that he really IS what he plays in his movies? Did you know Morgan Freeman isn't actually God?
MrGalt 2 years ago
I see what you mean.
ShinobiMystic 2 years ago
what is this???
bittercrimson 2 years ago
You talk too much and dress too much and think you are what you are not. The key thing to learning a martial art is to find a teacher who is a real martial artist and not a wannabe, or a fake. You as an individual must have respect, discipline and perseverance.

At least 65% of MA school show these so look out.

when you "train" from videos, you've got no one to watch and correct your progress, so you yourself might train, and perform in an incorrect way, plus the training is not "balanced" so to speak.. if you check on videos, most who do, just want to learn flashy kicks to...impress some one or try to actually fight someone, even if you DO try to actually learn the martial art itself...there is so much more behind it: strenght, balance, general fitness training which is essential in [continues...]
HoranyTKD 3 years ago
yes I agree, it is hard to have the proper discipline to refine your strength, balance, and such. Thanks for watching.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
In martial arts you dont just learn fighting
you learn about yourself, mental and spiritual things about yourself, how to breath, how to stay calm in a fight, how to take punches/kicks etc, how to meditate (which all helps into figting)
you also need
martial arts equipment
training partners
a teacher to watch you etc etc....
you also need the fitness
although it is possible to learn a little bit of martial arts from the net and books etc but you wont become the next Bruce Lee or a master
Xgloomshadow 3 years ago
A student needs a teacher, no question! Learning from books and videos are dangerous because there is no qualified supervision going on. Your message is confusing, not to mention, I believe you still have a LOT left to learn. Now's the time to study as much of the application ( the obvious and hidden) of your technique and forms as well as train to accurately deliver those techniques. I've been training for over 20 years and I'm still discovering new ground. Good luck!
4thDan 3 years ago 5
One of the best reasons to join a martial arts school is that u can always find a worthy opponent to spar with. Sometimes ur buddies may have work, school and other things that may interfere.
Also this may not be as effective as having a teacher but u can film urself in ur sparring matches and see what u need to work on.
RegalotheDarkKnight 3 years ago 2
Lets put it like this if you trained for years martial arts you CAN learn from youtube and books other MA , if you didnt I sugest you try some simple martial arts like boxing, kick boxing and muay thai they are in my opinion were simple to learn and very useful ... greetings

complete bullshit, as long as u have the materials and a couple of training partners, it can be done

MMA a has rules and is like the opposite lf a real fight. All the places that i'm trying not to hit in a cage fight are the places i wanna hit in a real fight.
kauaiyi 3 years ago
Your Thoughts Shinobi are backwards. You need a teacher first to show you the proper stance and basics first. Then after you have mastered the basics you can then move on to more difficult and advanced moves. You can NOT trian yourself in the bascis of what you dont know. yes you do need a teacher which equates to a school.
videoedit69 3 years ago
Come on stop misguiding people and lying to yourself. This martial art is total bullshido, NOBODY in MMA does this BS.
Mrgyn 3 years ago
I don't mean to misguide people they don't have to take what I say as absolute truth.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
Fair enough. Please forgive my brash comment before, take care and enjoy your training.
Mrgyn 3 years ago
If you think MMA has anything to do with Martial Arts the you are already misguided. MMA is a sport, it's nothing more than entertainment.
bhibatsu 3 years ago
I agree, about MMA being a sport.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
it is a sport but fighters use all the best moves from many differant fighting styles, look at cung le for instans he has learnt TKD as a kid when he got older he stared to do Muay Thai and now he's learning BJJ because it's the most dominent ground style
system0Fhonor 3 years ago
seriously are you stupid no disrespect TKD is one of the most used fighting styles in the world along with ju jutsu, hell the brazilions made their own style of it to fit their biger bodys and they did a wonderful job. i bet if i used half of what i know from Shorin-Ryu (the hard soft style) you would exost your self throwing punches that do absalutly nuthing to me outher than tickle.
i took 6 years of TKD (one of the okanawan styles) 4 of Shorin-Ryu and 2 of kimpo karite and iv used it to
jarhead1stlt 3 years ago
what did you say ? : 6 years of TKD okanawan style ? I did not know they did TKD in okanawa

and that big brother thingy i know what you mean
thunderkylinP 3 years ago
Yes there are so many styles to study. It is mind boggling.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
I myself trained in TKD for awhile, and then on my own for 3 years.I think the thing that abled me to train well on my own was having gone to a school, Im back at a dojo know, and I think that you should atleast obtain a black belt then train on your own.Like Shinobi mystic says youll need some one to point out the small details you dont notice. Great advice mystic!
pmaughmer 3 years ago
Yesm what style TKD friend? Thanks for watching I appreciate it.

Im proud to say I studied WTF TKD. Unfourtunately some things happened and I couldnt continue you there. But it was wonderfull while it lasted and my love for it has stayed with me throguh the years.
pmaughmer 3 years ago
Yes, I love the dynamic kicks that TKD gives us.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
YeahI love kicking. Being in TKD really gives me an advantage over some of the other karateka in my school when sparring and help me won 4 tourneys this summer. one of the mactehs i did nothing but kick lol it was fun.

One master said. Learning through books is futile. Learn through a teacher and then read the book and it will make sense.
NekomonoJin 3 years ago
I can see the point in this. Reading only extrapolates your knowlege.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
I Thought it important to answer your Question....YES...let me repeat, YES. If you are your own Lawyer, then you have a fool for a client. If you attempt to teach yourself Martial Art, You only stumble over your own ignorance. And there is NO NEED. a Teacher can show you the Proper way, instead of you bumbling around and attempting to figuer out what an experianced teacher already knows.
flurtenmaniac 3 years ago 2
ah but you see there is always ALWAYS A teacher and a student end of story
TheGameMasta 3 years ago
I know technically once a student always a student. When do you stop learning?
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
I have the same idea as you... My brother always argues with me that I suck at martial arts. Technically, I am still a white belt. (trained until 2nd belt) Although, I have self trained for nearly 3 years, and i'm sure I could stop a knife or gun attack by myself, but he says I would always be killed. It really annoys me that he tells me I couldn't win in many fights. Of course, I don't practice to fight at all, but he just tells me that I suck. I wish he would understand that I'm different now.
SeijiiNakamaru 3 years ago
It sounds like he has got that big brother mentality. It is too bad he does not try to foster your talents. Keep up with your personal training and sharpen your skills my friend.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
Of course, I even train someone else and he ignores me. It's alright though, he'll figure it out once he stops playing WoW and watches me train. (which he wont do any time soon)
SeijiiNakamaru 3 years ago
Yeah I finally got one of my friends off of WOW. Just keep training safe friend.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
It's ALWAYS, i repeat ALWAYS better to be with an instructor in person.
You may be doing something wrong that you don't know, You can practice with videos so you get the idea of what some Martial arts is like.
Like he said it warms up you're muscles also.
Beenthere19852 3 years ago 2
Thanks for watching.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
i agree that you need someone to watch you. but you do not nececerally need a teacher. if you have learned skills from books, videos or the internet and have practiced, all you need is someone to watch you and tell you if the methods are working or not.
the true teacher is yourself.
ApErSoN666 3 years ago
I have been finding what you said to be true, presently in my situation. I feel my imagination is a true sparring partner, when practicing strikes with focus and ferocity.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
Your Imagination cannot punch you in the face with all the ferocity of a real attacker. You need someone to watch you learn your basics that way you are earning them right. Once yu have mastered those then you can set out on your own.
videoedit69 3 years ago
Great advice! but what is your take on shifting? expirementing with different martial arts and seing what you like or should you have what you take first as a staple?
usamanta 3 years ago
Shifting is the base of my martial science. Just as all realms of science are interlocked so are the fighting arts. Learn the techniques that work the best and disregard anything else. Check out my series on Martial Science part I,II,III, and IV for more information. Peace be with you friend.

Great video!
KageAoi 4 years ago
This is true, I think learning in groups is very important especially in physical training.
ShinobiMystic 4 years ago
Very good advice. I agree that nothing can take the place of training in a school or dojo; the group setting and positive environment works wonders for the individual. However, thanks to works continuously contributed by individuals such as yourself, Choson, etc people have an opportunity to at least begin should a dojo not be an immediate option.
