@erken In synthesia you do choose what instrument is what color, you can make every instrument one color if you wanted, so it resembles what you want it to..

@erken they do represent instruments. the instruments are just played with different hands. only thing is they are all set to the same instrument. for example, you can change the instrument of the blue notes to an electric bass sound.

@erken LOL, no, download the program, each color is one instrument, or variant of an intrument, as to a grand paino to a rock paino, anyways kcorb was right. The program is called Synthesia, it can play mid and midi files.
