I found another great solution that you don't even need to have a PC connection. @FaZedGraViTY No you don't have to have sony vegas pro, you can use any software you like such as adobe premier, pinnacle studio, cyberlink powerdirector, any you like but whatever you choose you still need to learn how to use it and if i'm right there is some really good features in sonny vegas pro this is what i use, there are loads of tutorials on here so if you do get stuck just look on here. I have the portable version of sony vegas.

@KamikazXI The cable is the component cable this will make sure you get a picture from your television to your pc, it come's with the old xbox's but doesn't come with the new one's, luckily my m8 had one so didn't have to buy one. The component consists of red green blue for picture then red and white for audio and do make sure you have these connections on your tele first as i didn't so i bought a new tele.

i have my HD pvr hooked up and the play through is working just fine (i can see my xbox on my tv) but when i go to record it only shows a black screen and when i press record than stop the recording it says captured failed i have updated the driver via the hauppauge website and contacted customer support and all they had to say was "You have two options, reformat your system and reinstall Windows 7 cleanly or return the product for a refund because we have no fix and don’t know when we will. "

@bthemathkid yes, you can look at the screen of your computer that your looking at, but there will be a 1-2 second lag. so don't try playing from it. or if you do use a different tv. otherwise just record from theater of said game and your all good.

Just to clear everything up for everyone, it will record anything that uses component cables, The HD PVR comes with a set of component cables to connect to your tv, it is a passthrough device. I don't care if you have a old Xbox 360, Xbox 360 Slim, PS3, PS3 Slim, PS2, anything with component will work. However it doesn't come with the component cables for your Xbox,PS3, etc. You will have to buy those, they are easy to find. Also use Playstation 3 Mode for whatever your recording.

I need kinda much help. Look, I got my PVR yesterday, and on my videos, some weird lines shows up a few times. Looking like an old TV quality from 2001..

And when I use my Component cabels instead of HDMI, I get some kind of green CC on my TV, what shows up on the videos aswell.

Anyone in knownledge of this problem? Would be great to solve the problem...

@OrangeChuChu It show's that it's perfectly fine in media player, but in sony vegas when I import the file it's stuck to the top left corner of the video.

@snaroki i had the same problem, to fix it i record in the ps3 format even though i play on xbox. its something wrong with the mp4 files. it works!
