I am transgender MTF and I find it sad that some people have to be so hateful. It's not like the haters have to change their gender. We are not effecting anyone. We are just being ourselves. People are too focused on the outside, what's more important is what is on the inside.

It's a very personal decision, and needs to be respected as such. Fear ..read ignorance is usually at the bottom of the negative reactions towards transgendered individuals. Society needs to be educated, but society also needs to be willing to let go of the fear. This will take a very very long time ... religion being the main culprit against understanding and compassion, and allowing those to make their own decisions for themselves.

@JulietHasAGun89 It's also greatly to do with homophobic prejudice. I don't understand where they get the idea that someone getting a sex change hurts THEIR personal life, ESPECIALLY to the degree that they feel that they should hurt or kill someone TS.

An analogy I came up with a day or two ago is: if you buy a blue car and you would feel more comfortable in a red car, you simply get the car painted red! Does it hurt anyone else? NO!! So, how does a M feeling more comfy as F hurt anyone??

So, a guy of this thinking falls in love with an MTF and when he finds out about it, he immediately equates it with both of them being gay!! Which is NOT the case at ALL!!!! So, he hates himself for "being" gay, and he hates the MTF for making him feel he was gay, so he tries to hurt the MTF to please his god.

I would never promote hatred, people derserve respect regardless of their situation. But don't we have to accept who and what we are born as? Let's say I wanted to be a cat! Should people go out of their way not to offend me and proceed to address me as a cat? Should I get surgery to look like one and start purring? Of course not! I know my comment seems facetious but I mean it as an example of how some things just cannot be changed, regardless of how much you may wish things were different.

@dogley1 -I can c where u are coming from + i have said similar things myself but ultimately my brother is V clever, he has a doctorate + although i have no way of truly understanding this, i can assume he thought very long + hard about it b4 changing gender (ftm).There is a lot of difference gender dysphoria+ wanting to be an animal. As someone else here said a while ago, if you lived someplace where you were very uncomfortable, would you simply just stay & accept it until the day the other person making you uncomfortable left, or would you get up & move yourself so that YOU could be happy? Getting a sex change is only what they feel they need to do to be happy. They're NOT comfortable being the gender they are, something just DOESN'T mesh!! So, they have to fix the mistake nature made, surgically.

I know of a guy that wanted to look like a lizard & he actually had surgery to LOOK like a lizard!! Green scales, knobs on the head, webbed feet & toes, split tongue, slitted pupils, THE WORKS!! I doubt he's been killed!!

If you were born severely retarded but they found some way to cure you, would you be happy to just take your retardation as what you simply had to live with, or would you want the cure? @RedVynil I don't have any problems with transgender people, I'm not against the concept and I'm not religious so I don't think it's against God's Will or nature, etc. Only my reservations are; Men and Women are very different to each other, not just physically but we think and behave differently. Can drugs "cure" this. No, a drug cannot alter your brain in that way. Also, and I hope not to offend with this, but some men are beyond any possible transition. They are too masculine to appear female

@dogley1 I don't have a problem with TS or gay people, either. I have friends of both types. And, I can speak from personal experience that TS's simply feel they can NOT go through life with their birth gender. It's as horrific to them as if someone took your brain and succefully transplanted it into a dog's head. You KNOW you're a human, but your body says you are now a dog. The ONLY way you can feel like your true self is to have the transplant reversed. Well, tha's all TS's are doing.

Well if they do hate them, then it's their problem. They just live in their own simplistic reality where only the things they know exist to them and everything else must be evil or bad. Such people are to be pitied for their ignorance.

Wow! You can discuss such a complicated subject so well,and with wisdom.I think someones gender exists in their mind first and in their body second and sometimes they don`t match up,if the person wants surgery and hormone treatment to get the body they want that's good.People should be more kind and accepting.

I don't hate transgender people. I think they have major courage to come out and live life. It is very difficult. Most take their own lives it is so hard. People are cruel in general. Full of fear. Fear turns to hate. If you are comfortable with yourself there is no reason to hate anything. I am straight but some of those trannies are very sexy. :)
