Oscar Grant is a hero, if it wasn't for him I would not be wearing all this bling and have spinners on my car, yes, I was able to afford them from the proceeds of all the shoes I got from the ReeBook store :D having a Garage Sale Baby !!
Oscar Grant, you granted us something, a mirror into the hatred and division and separation and fear that still plagues this world. I'm sorry you were the blood sacrifice to get them to see. May they see. May they see. Bless his family. Bless his friends. May they heal.....
you dont have to understand it. most people dont. we will not continue to let these so called police officers get away with murder. they are supposed to protect and serve but they are starting to do more harm then good. people say it was an accident but it wasnt. he was face down with cuffs on and a knee in his back. how in the hell could he have been a threat?
@jlynnbabe1 I guess what I'm looking for are potential solutions. I agree that police often do more harm than good...I agree that many police officers have gotten away with murder, there's no doubt about it...and I agree that major things need to change in the whole law enforcement and legal "justice" systems...but what are some specific actions that people can take to make those changes? It's a question not just to you, but to everyone out there who might have some ideas.
@jlynnbabe1 Yet ANOTHER person spreading the lie that Grant was handcuffed! Had he allowed himself to be handcuffed, we would not be having this discussion at all.
fuck all you bitches.. he shot and killed that man for no fucking reason. he new what he was doing and trust me either in jail or once he is back on the streets that bitch will pay. the justice system didnt want to give oscar grants family justice then streets will.. JUSTICE FOR OSCAR GRANT..!!!!!
Oh please, he will be forgotten. Just like Rodney King was forgotten about. This shit happens all the time in the black community. You would think that people would be used to it by now.
@searching4answers100 - I agree bro, that's why we are all moving to Somalia where no black person ever gets abused by White people, maybe by another black man, but as long its not Mr. Whitey, its okay.
if a police officer can't handle a situation like the one above, especially when he has back up, he shouldn't be a police officer. They train to make split second decisions- if they're wrong there are no do overs- there are lives on the line.
The police officer thought he was pulling his tazor. When you are facing a mob yelling and screaming at you its a very high tension situation. In a situation like this, it is plausible that the cop could have mistaken his tazor for his gun. This is no murder. Man slaughter? Most likely. The officer screwed up and needs to pay for it but he shouldn't be on trial for murder...
@Ungankable I don't believe that you haven't thought enough about this situation. This young man lost his life while he was cooperating with the authorities. How would you feel if someone you knew was put in this situation? Murder - 'to kill brutally or inhumanly'.
The cop should have known where his TASER is vs. where his GUN is. This is not a small mistake. If every cop got away with using a deadly devise vs using a stun gun there would be a lot of innocent dead people lining the streets.
The officer accidentally shot the boy.

@jlynnbabe1 - I agree, we don't need the police, lets get rid of them. or at least it should be an all Black Police department just like Somalia.

@jlynnbabe1 Do you mean that justice should come in the form of another murder? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by street justice.

mehserle is guilty, all the officers already testified. He said "I Handled it, I shut it down" afterwards.. besides look @ the facts...
-Both the gun and the tazer safety's were on, it had to be taken off.
-A 1pound tazer weighs less then a 5 pound firearm.
-He took a good 2-3 seconds to aim
-A tazer trigger pull is less then 1 pound, a gun is more then 10 usually.
-He didn't call for medics after, he instead handcuffed grant.
He's an ex-cop, no matter what happens, he will get his for sure.
