  • I miss this game...

  • Was it possible to shoot down those CHOAM dropships?

  • The first true RTS

  • that sound on first soundblaster card was then magical... this and warcraft 1, before they used rightclick for actions... pioneers.

  • Loved this game since 94 when i was 13 years old and already been introduced to Dune thanks to reading the books. 1 & 2 are great games, they should do remastered remakes.

  • Love this game!!!

  • it was the first strategie game i played and it was so cool those times.

  • Sigh... I wish it was 1994. 2010 sucks.

  • I never liked C&C. Could never get into it. But Dune 2 was fun.

But the real RTS enjoyment came with Warcraft 2 and Starcraft.

Stil play starcraft to this day.Waitng like 10 years over due for the next one FFS.

  • @allybuilder i was more for warcraft 2 and dune 2 all were brilliant

  • so the person in the intro sounds like a kid but well was a good game for its time i bet^^

  • A világ egyik legjobb játéka.

  • lol damn this brings back some memories.

  • R.I.P westwood :(

  • combat leader by SSI was first RTS

  • I played this w/o a sound card. I had to go to my friend's house to play it with sound, and it blew me away.

@uraniumdeath: I totally agree with you. This game laid the foundation for Command and Conquer, which then spawned Warcraft and Starcraft, which then spawned WoW. This game is important to gaming, much like Wolf and Doom were to the FPS genre.

  • Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released a full year before Command & Conquer. Just wanted to set that fact straight, but otherwise you are correct.

  • It's also worth mentioning that warcraft and starcraft were both HEAVILY influenced by the warhammer and 40k series. So it's fair to say that it's as responsible for that lineage as well. Dune set the RTS standard, but the lore and creative are far from similar.

  • Land...of sand. I love the drama.

  • yea thats a great game ive played in my young age. Graphic is shit, but 100x better for the time than game we have now.

  • Atreides: airplane

    Ordoes: Missile tanks

    Harkonnen: Just 2 fucking men?

  • Lol

  • yea, but those 2 ficking men can bitchslap an intire army :)

  • Harkonnen rules!

  • Same introduction as in Dune 1.

  • @ArMANRazoR Not really, the first Dune game (which was more of an point and click adventure game than a strategy game, even though some strategy stuff existed in it) wasn't similar at all. If I remember correctly, that intro had you flying over the landscape of Dune with credits. Then there was the later CD-ROM release of that game which used the narration from the Lynch movie, which had some resemblance to the Dune 2 intro, but not much.

  • Introes have the same titles. On intro there is text about the Dune's climate.

  • Damn, after all these years, I still remember the intro text by heart and still get shivers when the storytellers goes on about describing the houses... "The Noble Atreides..."... ahh the memories of wasted childhood =D

  • Sardaukar approaching

  • Oh man, I loved this game! they should make a remake from Dune 2 (but still same gameplay and graphics, just bit better, windows-comform and still 2D, not everything turnable etc). Also from Games like Crusader No Remorse or Syndicate. That was awesome! Dune 2 was fantastic, one of the first strategy game. Perfect!!

  • Whey already did that - "Dune 2000"

  • Dune 2000 is a pile of garbage.

Emperor: Battle for Dune is way, way better.

  • Well 'comanche', find an ORIGINAL game at the time that was better.

13 year olds do NOT understand the buzz that games like this provided, just like I will never understand the buzz from black and white TV that my parents had.

You take your PS3s and Nintendo Poos for granted, and don't realise that the reason why you have so many games now is because you had pioneering games like Dune II.

I've been playing Dune II since release, and none of that has ever bothered me. It's the way it was.

  • I have no idea what you're trying to say here. It is really unintelligible gibberish.

I don't care if you have an Xbox360. That doesn't change a thing.

    Enjoy your gaming.

  • @uraniumdeath How do you know that 13 yr olds do not understand the buzz. Perhaps some do?

  • @DarthRushy Fair call. I made a generalisation based on the fact that I heart so many young kids call this game 'crap' because 'it looks crap'...the majority of them being spoilt little turds whose parents buy them everything and don't appreciate it...

But I can see you're a real Dune fan...great to see.

  • @uraniumdeath Thanks. Dune is simply awesome. Even as a video game.

  • @uraniumdeath Dune fan? Sure, cos I'm trying to get all Dune material I can find.

I also think that Brian and Kevin made a big error in Sandworms of Dune.

Anyway, I hope I'll find the Dune board game one day along with a version of Dune 2000 that has cutscenes.

  • Agreed on all points there, mate! All these games were awesome, even today they have a spirit (especially Delphine games). Cheers

  • It was great, and right then I remember "wow, what a graphic, like real" hehe

  • Haha. Brings me right back

  • ahhh.. soooo nostalgic!
