Cantamus are not the Champion of the World Gold medal winners for nothing!!! They are the best and they can do ANYTHING and make it sound truly beautiful. They always will no matter which girls are in it - it is the Choir that matters.

I do not know much about Cantamus, they sound nice but the pieces are a little too 'commercial' to me. Also, far too much vibrato, more like a branch of soloist than a choir.

i happen to disagree because the pieces on this site yes are the more commercial pieces but they sing a full range of genres including pieces by judith bingham which are much more contmpory they are just not displayed here!!! check out there website for a full repertoire list or go to a concert they are truely amazing.. the vibrato in cantamus give it its unique sound and can be controlled for a song if neccessary but adds dimention to the pieces.

cantamus are not really a commercial choir seeing as we are run independly by Miss Cook,

and much of the repatoire is far from commercial... xxx

Singin with or without vibrato is a tough question. It depends on what you seek for. For real and true a capella sound you have to forget vibrato or you have to learn the technics to control it otherwise it will kill the intonation.

It depends on ``music schools`` which are learning singers if they sing lihtroso, mecco vocce or classical soloist technique. Im prefering lihtroso technique or ``open singing`` without vibrato. Its for choir singers.

Cantamus is a choir where the girls are encouraged to let their voices mature naturally. If you want a flat, boring, "pure" sound, go listen to some boy choristers!

Cantamus is a 'girls choir' but a choir in which the girls are offered the highest in classical singing training, not to sing like choristers but to learn the technique of voice and body in singing and to have an operatic sound. The girls blend wonderfully together, they have mature voices and u should hear them singing their own classical repertoire!!
