  • well now that mines 1 he growls and barks at the dog i literally have to stop him

  • fucking shit

he took the shield and run ...

that not good but for labrador this good because labradors dont attack

  • @yarinlevi591 no dog "attacks" any dog can participate in schutzhund, and one of the sections of schutzhund is bite work, the dog is not trained to attack a person, but trained that the bite sleeve is a toy and just bites it for fun, although it is trained to be aggresive towards it and the reason the sleeve was released was to reward the dog for doing the bite, the dog is then on a high because it has won the sleeve.

  • i thought labs wherent guard dogs

  • awwww the music is so innappropriate lol. We use our labs as gun dogs, retreivers etc... amazing bits of kit! And lovely pets

  • Obedience and bite work in the same exercise? Don't try this at home, with a mali, rotty, cane corso, or other hard, high drive, guard dogs. They may turn back on you for that bite :) Nice Lab.

  • You're the handler and decoy? Wtf? Good thing your dog think it's all a game (never could do real protection) otherwise you'd be screwed. LOL.

  • @MPolewka Oh geez, just cause you can't think outside the box doesn't mean others are incorrect for doing so. I know many trainers that have been both, and it has worked out wonderfully for them.

  • @SplishSplashCrash Riiiight. Maybe it's okay for fun but sure as hell not for real life protection training.

  • @MPolewka when you are working with prey drive you can take bites from your own dog because it is all prey drive (a game). Once you get into defense drive in protection work it CANNOT be done by the handler. That would be like betraying your dogs trust. The dog must feel threatened and feel like it has to defend itself. This is all prey drive work, and is all for fun. So decoy and handler is fine.

  • @Hudson2012 You are right but the hardcore music gives the wrong impression. The average person on here is going to mistake this for real protection work and think it's a good idea to do this at home. By reading the other comments one can see how many truly believe this is for real.

  • @MPolewka i agree. Hopefully they will read and listen to the comments like ours as well. Proffessional trainers are always the way to go when you want to train real protection. I trained my Rottie advanced obedience and basic protection work for to have a foundation, then because I felt I didnt have the knowledge to train any further in protection I went to a professional for to teach both of us how to continue and its the best thing I ever did. She is turning into an amazing dog. 13 months old

  • @Hudson2012 Congrats on your dog! Rotties are wonderful. I

  • If someone called a lab on me I would laugh and slap the dog in the face. However for protection sports, labs can make a good competitor due to their drive if they are from a good hunting line. Nowhere near the ability of a malinos or dutch shepherd but still could be alright. But for strict protection or personal protection, not a chance a lab will ever come close to a true working breed like a presa or a ovcharka for example. On another note this one looks pretty good :)

  • @Knucklehead281 a lab is still a 50-80 pound dog with teeth

  • @UniteForgetLeftRight "a lab is still a 50-80 pound dog with teeth" Bahahahaha that's about all it is these days lol! Belgian Malinois and dutch shepherd are in the relative area as well, here is the difference. Labradors, retrievers and other gun dogs, were bred to retrieve dead prey, they were bred to not puncture the flesh of the animal, thus the outcome is a dog who has a weaker bite force than a human. These dog's may excel at sport work which is beautiful, but protection is for guard dogs

  • @Knucklehead281 i bet you would still cry like a baby any dog bite hurts and adding atleast 70 pounds just dangling from your arm you would either scream with pain or cry.I do agree that malinois and shepherds were bred for this but labs can be good at it.

  • @doglover091 Again, I said as a sport labs may do well, but as real protection not a chance Here is the difference I may cry like a baby when your 70 lb lab bites me. But I will still have the physical ability to easily overpower this dog when the struggle begins after the bite, and given that labs have a very poor bite force I may even pry the mouth open and retaliate. However, if a 220 lb bully kutta, or 170 lb bandog, or 200 lb ovcharka takes a bite of you he will take the arm with him.

  • @Knucklehead281 i read wrong sorry.i met there nothing but weaklings and wouldn't stop anybody. My lab has stopped a man from beating my cousin he was at least 120 and he nipped the dude and he fell and stayed on the ground till the cops got there.

  • do they have a lock jaw ?

  • @18Mrunknown no dog has a lock jaw it is a myth

  • I want to know much about labrador...

  • Your video may be good, I don't know - I quickly skip those with annoying music ruining the whole thing.

  • @ZigWing Ah, and that is why God invented a mute button ;)

  • The male was on his back for about 1 min before I could get her off, he managed to piss himself and I think had his neck punctured (she had blood on her teeth). Although I never found out because unfortunately for him when she let go, he ran two streets away and was hit/killed by an OC Transpot bus!!!

She was never trained as a protection/guard dog, just very loyal.

  • I had a full grown female black Lad. While on a walk I was ten feet away when out of the bleu a male black Lab came running at me from across the street, he was 2 times her size! Without a thought my dog jumped between the male and myself when he was about 4 feet away. Her chest on the ground, skin and hair on the back of her neck and her lip flaps razed and made the most bone chilling growl I have ever heard. I was as surprised and in shock as the male. He lunged at me she pinned him down.

  • come on are you avin a laugh, granted the dog can play tug of war wi some material round your arm,its not doing bite work at all,if i put that dog in defense drive it would av heart attack n die out, thats why labs will never be a protection dog it doesnt av a defense drive ther for will never have fight drive you all need to know ya drives before puttin a nice standard pet in the same league as a top class protection working dog.

  • @whitestorms6 Oh breathe! Read the video description before you get ur panites in a wad. I know he is not a protection dog and I am not saying he is. Good God!

  • @whitestorms6 labs have all the drive in the world in the world to be a protection dog my lab/golden retriever mix will snap a neck in a quick second i was taking her for a walk and a crack head came up to me to ask what kind of dog she was and she started barking and bolting to him i had to clinch harder to get her back so they are a top class a class protection dog just cause therye made to be a protection dog dont mean they gotta be mean all the which theyre not theyre great dogs

  • Thats cool, but I swear I'd be laughing the whole way to the hospital.

  • Nice, thanks for breaking a stereotype. Like your work and Crash is a gorgeous labby :P

  • awesome awesome awesome!

  • cool video i saw it on fun tube

  • great video!!! especially for a softmouth breed like a labrador.i would love to see his progress.all the best .

  • Thanks! I don't know how much progress there will be, it was kind of just a fun thing to do. He is a little busy with flyball, frisbee, agility, and dock diving :) Protection training is not a priority, but it would be interesting!! :)

  • great video! crash is such a beautiful dog. :) 3 months 'til i get my black lab puppyyyy, can't wait.

  • Congrats on getting a new puppy! Where is your lab coming from? What are you going to name your puppy?

  • thanks! from a kennel in western finland (i live in helsinki, finland:). i'm not fully decided on the name yet, i'm thinking about coco. i know it's associated with chocolate colored dogs but i think it'd be a nice twist to have it on a black dog. to me, it'd be a reference to coco chanel who i admire as a designer and even more as a woman - she was way ahead of her time. also, funnily enough, she adored the color black. OR i'll just name her shorty 'cause that'd be way cute. :P

  • I like shorty and coco :)

  • 10/10

  • Awesome! Looks fun! He's such a good boy, I bet Cricket would love it too!

  • Oh yeah she would, I just haven't built up her tug drive or grip enough yet, been to busy with frisbee :)
