  • how can i make that chord synth sound in native instruments massive? its proper phat

  • @gravityblastuk Massive might not be the right synth for that. I think something like Zebra or Sylenth might be better fitting.

  • That sound is the "your being chased" sample from amnesia. Terrifying, isn't it?

  • you are a legend

  • +1 Thanks for this complete tutorial :)

  • Should I sidechain the subbass too?

  • @moritzcasperdauner I usually do.

  • You and Dave (boyinaband) have helped me very much with my music making. And i'm very thankful that you've taken the time to do these tutorials.

  • Thanks!

    Helped me a lot :D

  • Where can I snag some free little vocal clips like the "I'm pretty sure you know how it works by now" bit?

  • @CoryCeeTuts You have to develop an ear for sampling. This sample is from the game 'Amnesia: Justine' and I found it when I was digging around in the game files.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Thanks, I hadn't even thought of grabbing them from games! What's sad is that I even have that game...

  • Is it possible to get the effects rack type view on logic pro? (the one shown at 1:50)

  • @Grasshoppa065 I'm pretty sure that isn't possible due to the VST architecture of Logic.

  • So you side chain every other instrument to the compression?

  • Can you do a tutorial showing how you made the other sounds in that main section? It sounds fucking awesome!

  • can someone please tell me what sample pack the ds_drm samples are from?

  • Comment removed

  • @icybladeful From samplemagic (dot) com.

  • sounds great, friend :]

  • i'd buy this trackover many skrillex songs any day

  • That song we hear, is that released yet?

  • do u have a tutorial about how to use the compressor properly ?

  • Thank you for this tutorial, it is really helpful!

Also I searched a little bit and I found that you use samples from Sample Magic. So if someone is searching for them, go to their website samplemagic (dot) com.

  • what sample pack are these specific drums from?

  • Nice Amnesia samples xD One of best horror games I've played.

    And very nice tutorial!

  • @danmos18 I found myself automating my master level on the synth group mixer to 'duck', instead of sidechaning everything using a compressor - quicker, get's it all sorted at once.Hope this helps you in reason too :)

  • and i can hear youre german, mein junge :D

  • sick shit, really.

  • @danmos18 Not really.

  • You know, that in Kong you can actually link samples to trigger at the same time when any of them is triggered.

  • @hamiiDX Yes I know. I want more control though.

  • your track sounds sick, soo much going on i'm still learning

  • Dude i wanna make a track with you Lol

  • haha @ 14:02 " I will not destroy this" *drop*

  • your amazing!!

  • And that sample at the final.. is from amnesia too... one of the best games I ever played *-*

  • @HeitorMeilleur Indeed, very right.

  • That sample before the drop... is from Amnesia: Justine? o.õ

  • @HeitorMeilleur Yes. You win :D

  • can you side chain by connecting your chosen drum directly to the sidechain in on the comp or do you have to use a merger/splitter? would be alot easier to go direct.

  • @JDeMuse Yes, of course, but you'll lose the drum signal because if you connect it to the sidechain in, it can't be heard anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • @JDeMuse yeah i figured, one more thing, where did you get your samples from? cheers.

  • i would love to learn but i still have reason four and one look of that mixer scared me so i left

  • DUDE Where is this song?

  • @TheVaughanio On my harddrive, apparently.

  • @ODSTHelljumper I think it should be on mine too. :) Are you going to release it?

  • @TheVaughanio I think so. Someday.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Is it finished?

  • @TheVaughanio Not yet, but it will be. I haven't forgotten about it.

  • @ODSTHelljumper ah okay, well good luck! Can't wait!

  • Great Tutorial. You should put up a tutorial on your synths from the drop in this track they're dope!

  • hey dude, is it normal i don't have that KONG patch in my files...? In my reason...?

  • @Flohoriaaaan Yes, these are third party samples.

  • @ODSTHelljumper ow...is there any way i can get them?

  • @ODSTHelljumper Can I get the drums off of you? I have been banging my head at that for the longest time.

  • or more specifically, where did u get the snare from?

  • i really dont even care about the sound the song was amazing where can i download this?!?!?!

  • Dude, this is sick! Man i love your music and tutorials now already, and i don't even have Reason...yet. That's what my question is about:

I'm 15 years old and my dream is to create Dubstep and Drum And Bass, but i'm looking for the best program...What do you think of Reason, is it good to start with creating Dubstep, or should i better look for Fruity Loops or Ableton Live or something?

I Would really appreciate it if you would response to this, because a dream could start.

    Bye dude!

  • @Flohoriaaaan There is no correct answer, unfortunately. Deadmau5 goes with Ableton Live, Camo and Krooked are on FL Studio, Loadstar like Logic and Nu:Tone uses Reason. You need to try several things and work out what you like best. Take into account though, that you do not have VST access when using Reason, which is something you might want to look into, especially when making Dubstep.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Okay. Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Ow wait so what you say is that if i buy reason i can actually not make dubstep? Sorry i didn't understand the last part of your response, i'm from Belgium you know...So i can't make Dubstep with reason like you or...Didn't i understand it...?

  • @Flohoriaaaan You got me wrong. You CAN make Dubstep in Reason, I do it all the time. Many people like to use VSTs for Dubstep though and Reason can not use VSTs like Massive, for example. But Reason has some pretty good instruments of its own.

    Reason CAN produce Dubstep.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Ow okay i got it. Thanks!

  • Can you send me the drum samples? kasksmith@gmail.com

  • My best guess is the samples from a prodigy tune? XD

  • @SwitchUpBroadcast Nope :D

  • No you had it right the first time, still gettn' it.

  • Oh man i feeel ya, Skrillex is awesome, ofcourse, but he became a fuckin hype.. I hate it when people say they listen to dubstep alot and never heard one single track from Skream, or Benga, or at least Caspa or Rusko. I even know people who just listen skrillex, not even bar9 or something, and say that they're completely into dubstep.. Oh and try to make some DnB! I'm trying to reproduce noisia's sound right know, could really use a tutorial about that :)

  • schlag 1, schlag 2... :D but your english is very good, I wouldn't even know that you're german :D thx for tutorial! keep it up!

  • Ohhrighhttt ::D

  • Is there a free download for this epic song??

  • @OfficialXsist Still working on it.

  • Your tutorials are very nice! Keep them coming and you'll be my hero, shit's awesome!

  • produces quality shit haha

  • explanation*

  • Hahahahaha I fucking like this guy! You're awesome man. I mean great tutorial, but your funny also hahaha "Oh! Ya, this drum shit... Ok!" haha oh and good explenations!

  • Awesome stuff man. Much appreciated.

  • Comment removed

  • @sullyskillz09 I am aware of that, but often I'll have to go back and listen to the individual kickdrums in order to do some tweaking. It would be quite annoying to have to unlink them everytime.

  • @ODSTHelljumper yeah no disrespect meant i jumped the gun a bit only got half way in before posting then saw you linked the snares EPIC FAIL ME check out my youtube channel for my productions. keep up the good work

  • you've gotta do a tutorial on the main wobble during the drop, its absolutely sick

  • @MMStingRay01 There's like 5 different wobbles there, which one do you mean?

  • @ODSTHelljumper there's one in particular that comes in between 0:51 and 0:52. Reminds me a lot of the drop in Adventure Club's remix of Crave You. There's also something you do at like 0:41 (kinda sounds like a racing car) that I'm really interested in

  • @MMStingRay01 Aaaah yes, the oh so classic hoover synth. Tutorial coming up.

  • @ODSTHelljumper can't wait! some of the stuff you do is just insane

  • :)! What about the basses from your drums tutorial?

  • Where is that sound from none of the comments say I'm curious now, and is it frustrating that you just got reason 6 after you bought reason 5 and record?

  • @TYDrumnBass I got it during the grace period, free Reason 6 upgrade included :)

  • @ODSTHelljumper so what about the reason 6 you won from boyinaband? and is there gonna be any more tutorials??

  • @TYDrumnBass Of course there will be more tutorials! :)

  • best part....'bro step'

  • Comment removed

  • "he produces quality shit".

    .....yup. that's pretty much it.

  • 'Sidechaining Shit' best phrase ive heard this year

  • this is amazing. thanks so much! hey do you know how to wire just the kick drum from kong to an equalizer instead of everything?

  • @DayneXavierHunt Yes. When you select the kickdrum in the Kong, on the bottom, a little display will say something like 'Main Output'. That's the channel the particular drum is sent to. Switch that from Main to another Kong out and wire that to an equalizer.

  • @ODSTHelljumper thanks so much! it worked :)

  • TO DRYYYY DRUUUMMZZZZ

  • fürs* tutorial :D

  • genau so ein video hab ich gesucht !! danke für tutorial!!

  • the snare isnt very skrillex. or at least in my speakers it isnt. anyway good tutorial :D

  • @diegolabrada it is maybe you havent heard any of his snares that arent layered with crash's listen to first of the year at the end he switches between the crash layered one and the normal one

  • lolz @ 3:14 - you pronounced it right first time =D

  • Great tutorial man! Hope you'll be doing more of these in the future. Some nice tutorials of styles of the likes of Feed Me, Porter Robinson, Knife Party stuff would be cool too!

  • where can i download the track?

  • timecode?

  • @mike4cky12 The minutes and seconds of the video in which the synth you asked for appears.

  • bro how do you make the synth hits for the intro of the dub section

  • @mike4cky12 Could you give me a timecode?

  • can i get a dowload for this track? or at least a link where i can listen to the the full version? it's sick. i went to your site, but i didn't see it up there.

  • Two questions?

1.) Should you sidechain the sub?

2.) I've been able to make some good wobbles and skrillex type growl basses. When I start using those should I sidechain those as well?

  • @dumpinfoolz420 1.) That depends. You can also cut the lowest frequencies of the kickdrum. Nothing below 70hz is really needed and that space can be filled with the sub. If you go way overboard with sidechaining on your other stuff, moybe for some very dramatic Gemini - Blue-type effects, the I would sidechain the sub as well.

2.) Dubstep basses and especially growl wobbles are more in the mid frequency spectrum which is why I do it.

Hope I could help you. :)

  • @ODSTHelljumper Thanks. Appreciate it

  • dude where do you get your sounds

  • @jk120808 Various samplepacks.

  • I take that back, 6 out of 5 stars!

  • @ZillaDubstep my pleasure :)

  • 5 star tutorial, my friend!

  • danke für das tutorial! es gibt tausende tuts, wie man eine skrillex bassline macht, aber anscheinend vergisst dabei jeder die Drum-Production.

außerdem ist mir deine art sympathisch! :)

  • I know you've said you will be doing tutorials on how to make the bass sounds, but what about the synth hits? :)

  • i know you don't regret your upgrade, but wouldn't've been better if you'd gotten yourself the reason 6 upgrade instead? i mean, it's all there in one program, don't have to use 2 at the same time (i think that's how reason-record combo works, but i may be wrong) anyway, waiting for your next tutorials. and i would really like to see some of your tracks released already, like this one or the one from your vocal choppin' tutorial :D at least on soundcloud or smt. Grüße aus Stuttgart :)

  • Please do a tutorial on the bass's mate!

  • Will you be doing a tutorial about some useful ways of creating heavy basslines?

  • @Projectx1025 Yes.

  • Comment removed

  • isn't that drop from Amnesia? This is a killer tutorial keep it up!

  • @Sh0w3rH3ad You guessed it!

  • @ODSTHelljumper So sick! I can't wait to hear the full song!

  • Comment removed

  • Lol at the Tags, Mainstream shit, i agree but i like the fills skrillex uses :P

  • @DeltaStudios1 As I state in the video, I actually do like Skrillex :)

It's just these kids that are running around, saying they listen to dubstep while they never heard of Rusko or Benga. Fanyboyism is what annoys me.

  • @ODSTHelljumper Yeah i know what you mean! I hate when people say thats trying to be hipster, Most people wouldn't understand its annoying to hear something so awesome put down by idiots screaming SKRILLEX INVENTED DUBSTEP, you know :P? Thanks for the tutorial dude, you seriously gotta get some music online, like soundcloud or something i wanna hear a full song from you

  • @DeltaStudios1 Exactly my point.

About my music online, I'm working on stuff :)

  • Wow, you have some serious skills

  • Dude you dont know how long i've waited for a new tutorial :D

  • Are you going to do a tutorial on the basses :)

  • @Awesomeguy11WTF Do you mean these particular basses?

  • @ODSTHelljumper yes plz :)

  • @ODSTHelljumper forget the masses i want the Massive patch at 4:00 plz

  • @Awesomeguy11WTF Ha, good one, isn't it. It's quite simple actually. Tut on the way.
