  • When I first heard this version over 20 years ago, I knew that I had to learn it or die. It has been one of my favorite songs to play ever since then. Just played it last night as a matter of fact. Gorgeous.

  • Beautiful version. That Scruggs version has always been special to me. Thanks so much sharing!

  • el tab? can you bring me the tab. Sorry I dont spick very good english, I try! I'm from Costa Rica -.-

  • Nice mellow version on Guitar !

  • Beautiful renditions - really nice!!

  • Randy used to be a Friend of mine and he used to play this for me back in the mid seventies. Thanks for the memory. And you play it beautifully!

  • Nice take on the song.

  • Very nice job.

  • You do an excellent job, but you forgot the sound of fingers squeaking across the coiled strings.

  • I tried for years to play this. You play it beautifully.

  • Irie. Good job! What is the guitar? I love the inlaid mother of pearl? The head looks like Breedlove?

Thanks for posting this beautiful rendition. Excellent! /s/ Lynn LawyerLynn. Jah Bless.

  • Looks to be a Breedlove AC25/SR+. They've been discontinued, replaced by the C25/SR Stage, which is lighter and has new fretboard inlays, an L.R. Baggs pickup as opposed to the Fishman in this one, and an onboard tuner but is essentially the same guitar. Both retail for about a grand. Hope that helps.

  • amazing mate. Perfect boyo

  • c'est fantastique xoxo merci kcirta6075

  • Hey, great job. I love this song.

  • that is beautiful. really nice job. could you direct me to some tabs for this? i'd love to learn to play it.

  • look it up on guitaretab . com...it won't let me post the link

that's the link to the song...you'll need to reformat it in microsoft word because it doesn't fit in the page.

There are a few tiny errors in the tab, but they're barely noticeable until you start playing along with the song. I've been playing it for about three days and i have it down almost perfectly. Good luck!

  • Nice job!

  • Is Joni's version in the same key as Judy Collins'? I think the popular version of this song was in Ab.

  • you play beautifully, is it wrong that i got turned on by this vid?

  • nice!!!

  • strange to hear this song played in standard tuning. Not bad, just different. Harder, too, I'm sure :)

  • What tuning is it in? I'm just learning this...

  • the original is played in open D tuning with a capo on fret 4...so DADF#AD capoed @ 4 :)

  • thanks
