Why did they show the coupe version when talking about 335i? You can get both coupe and sedan versions as 335d and i, if im not mistaken even the touring.
Great car but until they bring over the manual 6 speed I will keep my 330i. Next car will be a diesel. I drove the VW 6 speed and while a fine car does not match the BMW in handling or safety feel. Come on BMW keep the fun in driving with a manual for the 335d.
@mrkerpal2 that is not very nice. I guess if you can afford better then go for it but if you can not and are a cheapbastard that places no value on his life then you should shut the f*#k up.
@Lexvold im not overly rich and i finally understand what you meant but honestly if you buy used, there pretty inexpensive. never buy new just stupidly over priced. i could buy nearly TWO M5s for that price of a full load 3 series diesel
@Chingonshushu Have you ever driven one? Yes,the diesels of the 70's and 80's were horrible but that's not true today. They're quiet, not smelly, quick and powerful,
@Chingonshushu Because you dont know anything about diesels. Diesel engine is superior in every way compared to the same size / power petrol engine. The fact that almost 80% of executive saloons in europe are diesels says enough.
OMG!!!! Fucking american people shit me so much i just want to line you all up and slap you in the fucking face. WHO GIVES A SHIT THAT IT"S DIESEL!!!!!!!!! Just because it's not a 4 tonne v17 powered truck that eats fuel like a fat american eats maccas, doesn't mean diesel is EVIL. FUCK YOU
PS. Would it kill kbb.com to actually test cars instead of showing like the same 20 seconds of clips and a bunch of pictures which you clearly didn't take???
@MrFezza26 Not all americans are stupid.. just like any country there are dumb people, and smart people, fat people, skinny people..etc.. So stop bashing my country.
our 320d does 50 mpg city, when driven correctly. (display says otherwise so i subtracted 3 mpg). Also you guy are lucky, since a 320d is about as expensive in Germany as a 335d in your country.
I have a 335d and fuel costs are not a concern to me but you don't need a revvy engine to have phenomental accelleration and performance - this thing pulls like a train and the engine is only doing 1700-2000 rpm when cruising at highway speed in North America and the engine is smooth and silent at that speed.
@Jagshemasher ; That is something quite hard to understand indeed. If you only drive petrol cars, you know what to do : more revs = more power. Simple. But, for diesels, that is so wrong. Torque driving is indeed the way to go; silent, low revs, but lots of power (in form of torque, not horses). The magic about is, that you don't need to go through the band for power, it's just there, 200 (two hundred) revs above the very low revs you run somethimes
Not to nitpick, but those cupholders (esp those ones in the back) look pretty weak. A question to anyone with a BMW within the last 10 years, how are the cup holders in daily use?
@carlwk90 My car only has cup holders in the glove box, and I know they aren't stable during movement. I don't eat or drink in my car (w201). That was a legitimate question, maybe you should stop being a generalizing American hater.
Dude this thing is really hott, I like a lot. My mom has a 2008 Mercedes ML320 Diesel it's pretty nice, 23mpg CITY and 419tq lets me have some fun, I like Diesel =).
@immortal4942 i don't know, i mean it's only available in an automatic.. but then again, if it only revs up to 5,000 (and all the torque is between 2-3000 rpm), do i really want a manual? and also, i just think it's too expensive. in europe, the diesel actually costs less than the equivalent petrol.
and once again, i really think bmw should have started with the 318d, 320d, and 325d and then if they are successful, bring over the 335.
@coolerdude44 oh im not too sure about Europe, here in Canada diesel is same price as petrol. 98cents a liter at the moment. plus i don't want a manual and well speed limit is 100km/h here and insurance is expensive so 335d is sporty enough for me :) So really no advantage for me to get 335i instead. 335i is out for me. either 335d or the c350.
@immortal4942 i meant the diesel 3 series is cheaper than the petrol 3 series (335d is cheaper than 335i) but it's the opposite in america.
i'd get the 335i instead because it has one of the world's best engines, comes with a manual, revs up to 7,000 rpm, and is more neutral since diesel engines weigh a LOT more.
@immortal4942 in america, diesel fuel is more expensive than gasoline. $2.85 per gallon for diesel as opposed to $2.55 a gallon for regular unleaded. but premium and diesel are about the same, and bmws require premium (91 octane at least)
@coolerdude44@coolerdude44 i see, here premium 91 US octane fuel is more expensive than diesel. about CAD $1.13/L while disel sells for about c97/L. so thats US $3.44/Gal for diesel and US $4/Gal for premium gas.
In europe the diesel equivalent costs more, but you save a lot of money with fuel. I got my 320i for 50000euros while a 320d would cost 4000euros more than a petrol car.
I know lol I am from Brazil but live in Holland atm, I think it has to do with the taxes lol. Taxes in the Netherlands are much higher than in America
@swiftkillah313 Yeah man that's true, fuel prices in Holland are 64% taxes. Putting Holland on the fith place in the world in fuel prices. America is on the 111th.
@swiftkillah313 ; That's a very expensive 320i you got there ... In Belgium (West-Europe) a E90 saloon 320i costs 30.000 euro, while the 320d costs 33.000 euros. Looks like you have 20.000 euro in options, which is possible at BMW, but you have to pay it ;)
@TheVtieg6 yeah but i just don't get buying the 335d over the 335i. the 335i isn't really bad in the fuel efficiency department, and also fuel is relatively cheap in this country ($2.72 near me for regular)... a difference from 23 to 36 mpg isn't really worth it when spending over $40,000 on a performance car to be honest.
the 320d could easily manage 50 on the highway, that's real savings...
@coolerdude44 true thats because fuel is a lot cheaper in the states then anywhere else. in europe people pay twice as much as americans do. due to government taxes
@oldirtybastard213 Try again, its just that most Americans cant drive a manual so most ordered to come here were autos. the manuals have been available for years now.
@coolerdude44 Complete idiot. Have you ever driven one?! They are extremely "revvy" and super responsive! The sound is sublime and it has a hell of a lot more torque than the petrol equivilant. You have to be seriously silly to buy a 335i over a 335d. The d currently produces only 7 less HP than the Petrol 35 and the huge gains in torque make it faster. It is also parsimonious on fuel and super cool when you burn somone off in a Diesel! You seem to be stuck in the "Tractor Fuel" Diesel Thinking.
@SomeRandomer123 ... it revs up to 5000 rpm, it has over 40 less horsepower, and so far my prediction has been correct because they've only sold about 2,000 in america over the past 3 years.
in fact, the 335d accounts for <1% of american 3 series sales.
@coolerdude44 I wonder why all those trucks are so popular over there then, while there are more economical versions, people still even go for gas engines, i cant really see the point in that..
Just from watching this video i can see how underrated diesel engines are in United States. Most of them dont really realise how good modern european diesel engines are, and it really makes me laugh when someone from US says that diesel engines feel weak...
how does it handel in the weather? My concern is living in New England with snow and ice in the winter, how does all that torque affect traction? Any rear wheel drive slip and slide?
My brother owned one for about a year here in wet n windy UK. The traction control works well but if you floor one in the wet they still spin up a bit in 1st and 2nd.
Traction control off, forget about it, spins up real easy.
It took my bro only 6 months to bald the rear tyres @ £220 each!
I've had my new 335d for two weeks now. This KBB video is accurate on all counts. I was able to get the car below invoice as I requested NO options, just a plain-ole commuter car. My first tank of fuel resulted in an overall average of 38.2 mpg. I will drive this car for a v-e-r-y long time.
These are fantastic cars 0-60 in 6 seconds 155mph top speed and great handling. name me a car that can offer the same performance, handling and 45mpg for the money.
And the ES350 drives like a softened Camry....because that is what it is under the surface. So did you have a point. Your quoted 0-60 time is a bit optimistic too, Lexus rates it at 6.8 seconds and Car & Driver who regularly destroys cars trying for numbers only go 6.2 seconds out of the Lexus.
Your Lexus doesn't handle as well, steering feel and feed-back aren't as good, the design is not as timeless, not as solid as the 335...shall I go on?
pure garbage i will take perol cars any day especially is350 lexus, german failure unreliable junk...my cousins back windows dont wind down anymore and its an 05 3 series. how shit is that

Yeah, this car is overpriced. I can get an Asian luxury car that is twice the value for the price of a 335. the idrive system looks borrowed directly from the Hyundai Genesis.
The BMW´s design language, created by Chris Bangle, is all about that "tension lines" all over the body (bonnet, sides...) It creates lights and shadows, in order to make the body have a dynamic appearence. Personally, i like this style, except the rears of Series 6 and 7.

BMW'S are nice, but i would rather get a American car they are more dependable or a japanese vehicle like a Toyota Camry SE or a Toyota 4 Runner for the family but this is just my opinion.
It's funny how North Americans are always critical if European cars. In Europe they are loved cars along with other German auto's like Audi and M-B. i don't see a lot of American cars in Europe. Maybe that is why.
doh, american cars R the in the worst of their reliability & durability, but somehow i like the aggressive styling chrysler and chevy made, but other than that i choose japanese and german anyday!!
Well there are some people that like BMW features that some of those cheaper brands don't have...If you don't like it don't buy....you're just one person..I don't even know why you'd even watch this if you didn't like it...
425 ft lbs torque. god damn. that is more than a chevy small block. or a dodge charger. and it does get 30-40 mpg. hahah. diesel power fot the eternal win.
newsflash (since you know the year u must have good brains) of course i know what f**king year itis i just want to know if it is good because i'v seen a cheap one ok

i'm buying a bmw for the revvy engines and sweet suspension. taking the revvy engine out of the equation leaves me with nothing.

These are fantastic cars 0-60 in 6 seconds 155mph top speed and great handling. name me a car that can offer the same performance, handling and 45mpg for the money.

And the ES350 drives like a softened Camry....because that is what it is under the surface. So did you have a point. Your quoted 0-60 time is a bit optimistic too, Lexus rates it at 6.8 seconds and Car & Driver who regularly destroys cars trying for numbers only go 6.2 seconds out of the Lexus.
cbotten106 2 years ago 4
But the Lexus handles like a boat, is nowhere near as composed as the 335d and wont do 40mpg+ on a run.
DarthVapour08 2 years ago 20
@DarthVapour08 Every time I get in a lexus it feels like I'm driving a SOFA!! Which is cool... if u like that
BaronvonRichthofen 1 year ago
@DarthVapour08 I've driven a 335i, & not only did it handle real good, but it was unbelievably comfortable!!!!!!!!!
rayj778 1 year ago
Your Lexus doesn't handle as well, steering feel and feed-back aren't as good, the design is not as timeless, not as solid as the 335...shall I go on?

Yeah, this car is overpriced. I can get an Asian luxury car that is twice the value for the price of a 335. the idrive system looks borrowed directly from the Hyundai Genesis.
1ParadigmShift 2 years ago
Well, I can assure that Asian luxury car won't have 425 lb/ft of torque, it won't drive like a BMW, and it wont get 36 mpg.
ramcrazy360 2 years ago 2
Not to mention be as comfortable, control as well or take on snow and ice. It's all about the German Enginering.
hkrivell 2 years ago
The BMW´s design language, created by Chris Bangle, is all about that "tension lines" all over the body (bonnet, sides...) It creates lights and shadows, in order to make the body have a dynamic appearence. Personally, i like this style, except the rears of Series 6 and 7.
mugenintegratyper 2 years ago
This would be perfect if they lowered the price and took out the Urea tanks.
Mondafied 2 years ago
Why do you care about the urea tanks? You don't even have to worry about them.

318D or 320D would be, this is all about diesel performance....with reasonable fuel economy.

That's typical of German vehicles; their value aint worth the price.
7olusegun 2 years ago
When you drive at 155+MPH everyday, you'll learn their value.
StillOnWin95 2 years ago 4
Notwithstanding that aint justify its exhorbitant price.
7olusegun 2 years ago
When you enter the realm of service maintenance of a BMW, then you will realise its haughty crappiness.

Michael6609 2 years ago
doh, american cars R the in the worst of their reliability & durability, but somehow i like the aggressive styling chrysler and chevy made, but other than that i choose japanese and german anyday!!

The I-drive system looks borrowed directly from the Hyundai Genesis system. The menu layer set I mean..
Overall, the price is ridiculous for this car. I can get a
fully optioned Hyundai Genesis, Acura RL, and Lexus GS350 for less than this car. NO thank you
1ParadigmShift 2 years ago
Well there are some people that like BMW features that some of those cheaper brands don't have...If you don't like it don't buy....you're just one person..I don't even know why you'd even watch this if you didn't like it...
chocothunder27 2 years ago
BMW had the I-drive before 2002. I think everyone else copied them.
Michael6609 2 years ago 8
yea,BMW invented the first on board computer.Plus da 7 series is the first car with HUD.

Chris Bungle, very controversial designer.

I tough that HUD was first in Corvette?

This ought to be about 36K, not well over 40 grand.
Other than that and the common styling, it's a nice piece.
