He hit a lot of good notes, emphasizing the treble for a change, inner voices before and during the famous variation. At times, the piano mike seemed to disfavour the piano as opposed to the orchestra. Some of the woodwind girls were especially hot, which is to be espected in Budapest. I believe, however, that this is NOT the way that I would perform this, IF I were Alexis Weissenberg which, I confess, I am not. I just like AW's heavy ponderous lumbering.
