My mother's first husband, Pierre DePreter, was imprisoned at Breendonk. But Breendonk was not a concentration camp; it was a torture camp for political prisoners. Pierre was the leader of a Belgian Resistance group. He was executed two weeks before D-Day and is buried in a Brussels graveyard, in a courtyard of Belgian Resistance heroes. I certainly never forget.
@Shmerlop Hey there, I've visited Breendonk yesterday. My grandfather was also imprisoned at Breendonk. He was also in a Resistance group. He managed not to get deported 2 times, that saved his life.
