  • Are you showing how to install tile? Please remove this loud and undesired music.

  • Looks great! Don't know why people are dogging on the pattern alignment, looks top notch to me. I'm not seeing though where you weigh in on two questions though:

    1) Removing base boards before tiling. I'm assuming the builder already had those in before you got there and you're not there to play "Mr Carpenter" and remove/reinstall that? Would your normal advice be to remove the baseboard if it's free labor (my house/labor)

    2) Back-buttering - Any particular reason you didn't?

    Thanks!

  • I keep expecting the guy without a shirt on to jump up any minute, and strobe lights to come on, as he rips off his velcro shorts and starts dancing...it's the music :)

  • Fantastic Video well done very good job :)

  • I notice you didnt back butter the cearmics...is tath even necessary?..Im a novice, have a done a few floors, and I dont back butter and my tiles are fine

  • He can lay my tile anytime ;-)

  • Nice vid thanks ! I just did my kitchen with the same style tile except I did a diamond pattern on the corners with a different tile. This was my first tile job and it went pretty well, but these were extremely time consuming to get level imo. After the fact grrr I noticed the lippage on two tiles that are a bit high and drive me nuts ... how can I fix this ? I'm guessing remove the tile and re- do them, but I'm scared of damaging the surrounding ones. Can hyou help ? Thanks.

  • You are a true professional.....nice work.....I'm doing my first tile work and I can see that it takes a lot more than mechanical skills.....You have to figure out the patterns and what final result that pattern will look like...That takes some brains.

  • hot guys!

  • the music mix was shit but nice 1 on the tileing.

  • Hey nice job there! Great video. I start laying tiles by myself just by watching your work. Yes of course too many crappy comments here, let them upload their video and see the comments falling.

  • Thank you! i bot 20"sq tiles for my tiny bath, and i wanted to put in a pattern of some sort, i am a diy gal, & I thank you for the idea to keep it less complicated for me if I make diamonds instead of some sort of stripe, but once i get out the toilet out i am sure i am going to revert back to a stripe. i'll check out your url so i can see if you show how. ps like the no shirt look (= but i think i'll keep mine on...

  • wow amazing work. how is the business in Georgia? here in Florida its almost a stand still.

  • god blessed you with two things: mad tiling skills and good looks

  • Great work, sometimes , i do that , but it waste my time :)

  • wow. Nice work!!!

  • full profesional

  • nice work man!. guess your knees and ears have grown resilient to all that hard work huh?... Thanks for posting. what is up with that blue wall???

  • need to skim backside of tile to make sure you have full coverage in center of tile, but i do like your work and website

  • This seems like a stellar installation, I am amazed at the shit talking. Would be cool if the little rectangular black tiles were longer though.....

    Thanks for posting....

  • I bet you this was like a $5,000 - $6,000 job..

  • come 2 europa we show you the tile work

  • yeah, i'm gonna take advice from someone that lays tile without a shirt. only rookies tile to the baseboards instead of remove them.

  • What's with the techno? I never expected to be at a club when installing tiles on my floor.. otherwise nice job.

  • I dont understand how some bullshitting your job here:( they are morons.

    keep going mate!

  • well, i dont know much about tiling but i enjoyed the video and thought it looked pretty smart when finished. i have read the comments.. everyone has their own style, nice video geezer

  • i hate this contractors that dont remove the basebord to save time!

  • what happens when the concrete slab moves or cracks? why didnt you use a underlayment?

  • Ever hear of checking your coverage, holy crap!

  • Hey guys very nice work.I never use spacers on a floor though,I only use a grid system"it's newfie proof" haha.Cheers.

  • @steveobrien1000 spacers are faster

  • good job dude, 20x20 are a PITA to install level, looks like you went 1/4" spacer to avoid it any issues

  • @rx7dren Thanks, in this case space betwen tiles is 1/6" I am never doing1/4 Max is 3/16" in some not well calibrated porcelain tiles.

  • @TileMasterGa hello man . how are u ? i do live in alpharetta and i do tile as well , moved to GA from jacksonville- FL, i would like to make some connections around the atlanta area . if u ever gets busy and need any help i would like to make myself available , thanks ........Nilson ...

  • @TileMasterGa What is the best thing to use to bust up tiles? I was thinking a rotary hammer and hammer drill. Then do you just level it out with floor leveler?

  • @jackasstoday Hey Jackasstoday, I work in Tile and I find there is nothing better to remove tile than using a Boschammer with a very thin (about 16" thick) by 6-8" wide scraper blade designed for tile removal. Pretty much every company I have worked for uses this and it makes the removal a breeze. It can be rented at Home Depot and I'm pretty sure they have the proper blade.

  • @ProfessorKA0S I got a 3 in 1 Rotary hammer / hammer drill, and a tile scraper. I think I am good then..

  • @TileMasterGa Man my dad would go nuts if he didn't see someone using a water level after they install every tile. lol. I guess you can just tell by sight if something is level after you have been doing it for awhile. Got to imagine it takes a toll on your body after awhile..

  • 5:11 your diamonds dont line up diagonally. FAIL. The guy cutting on the wet saw needs earmuffs.

  • Listen - this area is seperated for smaller areas with black granit. Each are also have different shape and size. In this case to make it look apropiet tiles are nicely centered to each area!!! Just think about that and watch it once more.

No earmuffs needed - he is already deaf :) show me your work dude !!!

  • @TileMasterGa understand what u have done. but, what stands out more; cream tiles 15mm off centre over 3.5metres, or a row of black diamonds out of line, with that contrast? Your work looks respectable and it appears u lined up the diamonds left to right, up and down. My opinion is you should have run the cream through as if the black threshold/boader tile wasnt there (then added the black) That way the diamonds line up every single way.

Only productive criticism, apologies if i offened U.

  • @Stagtatstic Dude, check your eyesight and maybe hone in your geometry skills. Of course they line up diagonally at 5:11. To @TileMasterGa...nice work.

  • @CorbinAllred check YOUR eyesight, they are not straight, (they step out of line in the middle area then in the last area are back in line. His reasoning is bulshit, its a cock up

  • great job how much does it cost per square foot to do something like that ? just wondering thanks :)

  • Wow..you know what you are doing.I own a tile business too..great job.

  • good to see spacers being used! wow looks great. i wish more people in canada here did more tile in their homes.

  • good to see spacers being used!

  • hey whats the name of the song ? pretty cool !

  • The name of the song is: Van Bellen--Let me take you (Original mix)

    It's in my Favorites)))))

  • Good looking work man. You definitely need a new DJ though, that mix was a crime. ;)

  • nice finished result

  • Man I wish I had you guy's install tile in my kitchen..

  • 20" tiles should be back buttered to insure proper coverage.

  • @mcdowelltile ya was gonna add that, many people tell me they are tile guys,,,,,,,, but dont back butter and trowel in a straight line for air escape????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hope many of them tile dudes dont try outdoor project,,,,,,,,,specially where its cold!!!!!!!

  • wall spackle??????

  • looks wery nice :)

  • I tried to tile my kitchen and screwed it up. What is the best thing I can use to remove the tile, and can I still salvage the hardi-backer board.

  • @jackasstoday

heavy duty scraper ( the kind on a pole ) lol, and don't be bashful w/ the force u put behind it. ... shouldn't be too bad unless you have screw heads sticking up on the backer board.

  • nice to see some actual info

  • Thanks for sharing

  • as a tile guy, i can honestly say that the end result looks very nice

  • Great Video!!! You are defintely a master at tile!! Really enjoyed and got some excellent ideas. I always enjoy watchig a true craftsman. Thank you.

  • Hi, What is the paste that you apply? mixture of cement of something diferent..??

  • small tip regarding the full coverage comments. first. I don't care how well a floor is swept, there is too much dust, clean entire floor with a grout sponge. then pop your lines. Now that there is no dust, the mortar bonds like crazy. Flip a tile upside down in your hand and spread the mortar from center to edge, keeping your trowel at 90 degrees from the tile surface. 100 percent coverage. Set your entire first row this way. Also, the mortar doesn't hide your line. some guys back mud all tile.

  • What about wall spackle? Joey Petroni's you tube video instructed my cousin to use old paint mixed with wall spackle to grout his tile. Now it's all chipping up. I know the wall spackle can be used for various projects, but to hold a tile in place?

  • Wall spackle to set tiles??? do not try that at home !!! it is a crime...

  • @TileMasterGa looks great, dont listen to these clowns....

  • @SonofaBowler Spackle??? Have you guys been smokin crack?

  • i just finished a floor like this but using marble on mud set.

  • I saw the guy without a shirt in the pic so I clicked it, them I heard the music I was like O-boy, "Yes we are here to lay the tile"

  • @Iriatv you are not gay are you ?

  • @catrashoo well I like men and women so I'm bisexual.

  • Awesome!

  • Great Job!!!! I would love to have that floor in my home! And just to add to the shirt comments...I have to disagree, it is an attention grabber and adds a little sexiness to the video...for instance, look at the program "Color Splash" on HGTV...I admit I watch that show at times just for the display of muscles...and I'm sure I'm not the only one...just speaking the truth!!! Flex those muscles...lol!

  • Greatlooking job bro! we all have our own way to do things! But as long as the finish product looks good and we service the customer well, we can all make money!!! Keep up the good work

  • Great!!

  • If the slab is not perfect can you get way by puting more thinset in some areas?

  • put a straight edge on the floor and you will see the dips and humps in the slab. Put floor leveler in the dips and pull the straight edge across to the high points.

  • Thank you

  • i could be wrong but why isnt the mortar on the floor wide enough so the tile has a full foot print..i would think with no mortar at the edge it would be prone to cracking under a high stress load...i just would lay the mortar wider so the tile had full contact...

  • I am following line on right side, if cowered with thinset it will be hard to follow:)

i am adding more thinset onder this side when roll of tiles next to it.

    Everything is under control 100%

    No worries...

  • how much u charge per sqft i have 1500 sqft to lay let me know we live in atlanta

  • Hi satinkid999, well, i have to know more details. Please call me , only this way i will be able to give you balpark quote for your project. 770 833 2239

    Hope talk to you later.

    Michael

  • Great tile job. I checked your website and it was great too.

  • Thanks, it is nice to hear that...

  • i have been doing this trade since 1977 and you did a nice job in a picture and im sure its nice even there bur i want to tell you two things that will help you.

first put a shirt on on.. and second if you had a shirt on you can advertise and get a shit load of references...nice job great reference video ,,,good luck

  • @ITILE4U2

I agree put a shirt on?? good advertising and it makes you look a little more professional. Of course if you run a successful company and make what you want to make..i'll shut the fuck up

  • @siegechampion THANKS BRO, GOOD LUCK AND I WISH ALL THE CRITICS OUT HERE ON YOU TUBE WOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP >>LOL ....I CAME FROM SO CAL AND THE BEST INSTALLERS ARE FROM THERE, IM IN NOR CAL NOW SHOWING THEM WHATS UP!!

  • brilliant tilling mate oh and by the way who sings this song and whats it called

  • ive been doing tile since 2000 and i must say that came out really nice.

  • very nice job, this is my way of tiling after 23 years of experience

  • Thanks...

  • Id give my left testical to be able to tile like you

  • I'd give mine to be even able to SPELL the word! Great job!

  • well spacers are kinda for beginners any installer that has years of experience knows that ceramic tiles are never consistent in size! popin grids is really the only way to go! straight edges work good to! i personaly only use spacers on wall tile! i like to think that with 9 years of installing under my belt that im a pro but truth is theres always a better and easier way to do things and different ppl have different technics!

  • @ashtonmac88

ummm..spacers are not for beginners I work in southern California on multi million dollar houses and I've seen people say they were all good and can "eyeball it" good spacers are hard and keep the tile spacing UNIFORM and as for "ceramic" thats not uniform try using a quality gauged tile that IS uniform so you don't have to explain why your installing shitty tile to a homeowner. not to mention why your spacing is inconsistent.

  • Hi!! thanks for your imput but if your really do install tile for a living you KNOW that ceramic tiles are NOT consistent in size! so with that said, when your service all types of customers you cant always sell them a $6 per ft tile! so in the real world you have to learn to make ever job look as good as possible with the material you are givin! I stand by what i said SPACERS ARE FOR BEGINNERS! when you have to intall 2500ft of tile and have to connet several doorways spacers areNOT the answer

  • Poping out a grid with a chaulk line and making sure it is sqaure and leting the grid follow thru to the connecting rooms gives you a perfect finish! connecting everthing together nicly without any breaks in the doorways!! which we all know is for beginners!! a good tile man can use a line are straight edge and give the customer a beautful consistent floor!!!! if you cant you may need to find another line of work and leave it to the Professionals!!!!

  • you good man... dont listen to these haters.

  • don't listen to these guys. if you have tools that make your job easier, than use them. work SMARTER not harder. nice work, I would have done a few things a little different, but nice work

  • To me use of spacers is simple waste of time- Id be setting another floor instead.

The only obvious exception is when installing 12x12 and larger tiles on walls or tiling around big columns, kitchen islands and other objects that you dont have straight line to refer to.

  • TileMasterGa

    2500sq.ft - with 20x20 , 1/16 and no spacers- piece of cake!

Smaller the grout joint easer to keep tile straight, although it does take few years experience to realize that..

What about no grout line? Like crosscut travertine- how are you going to install that without your spacers?

I guess you could call professional to do it for you or at least have him hold your hand while you at it.

  • well, ewery body can tell that it is " piece of cake" and everybody can call him self" professional" what maters - final result and

quallity !!! I really want to see your 2500 sqft without spacers with 1/16 space !!! and quallity of it !!!! I know many like you - and quallity ZERO, maybe you different, i dont know, But what you saying to me make no sense

  • - every body have different techniques of wark, and if you look at

my web - page you will see that my is about quallity , not

    quantity !!!

And just to let you know i am using spacers only when tiles are perfectly calibrated - no difference in size !!!! like at this

project, with materials of 1/16 difference betwen tiles frome box

using spacers make no sense , couse at the end grout joints will

    never meet !!!

  • My spacer is in my "EYE", but sometimes spacers

helps - like on this project !!! Calibration of tiles is eztrymly important if you want your

project to look professionaly done !!!

  • Nice show for those who have no idea. Use of spacers-clear sign of unexperienced setter. Mr tilemaster wanna be. Although I never used them even as an aprentice 20 years ago, but I guess I got to learn the trade the right way.

  • I use spacers and still snap grid lines, and use straight edges.

  • I really want to see you laying 2500 sqft 20x20 tiles with grout lines 1/16 inch without any spacers!!!, at the end probably you will end up with joints 1/2 inch or even worst - loosing them at all and cutting tiles to smaller size.

    Mr Smart wanna be...

  • Muy buen trabajo se ve lo profesional

  • you must do mostly ceramic? that tile saw looks weak.....?

  • Weak??? this is one of best saws on market !!! -$1200 ....

  • Weak? Wow!

Never heard Felker Tile Saw...in the same sentence with WEAK!

    LOL!

  • how to install tile in bathroom ceiling

  • Long story....but need to be done by expert !!!

  • Nice job! I'm actually thinking about posting some stuff like this on utube, this is my 1st time looking at tile work, I've been in the biz for 13 yrs myself. Its a bit hard to follow when reaching out to home owners who know nothing about laying tile. So if you have any advice on how much video time this could take me, how you shot the vidio whilst laying tile that would be great. Oh and BTW, hows biz in ATL at the mo?

  • question how much are your labor charges if you the material was provided. The reason for my asking is i'm working with a flipper and he is supplyin all material.

  • well, it depending on tile layout , if demo is needed, type of sub floor and type of material, and also conditions at job site...

so i need more details - e- mail me

  • wat do u charge 4 a straght lay no design on new construction

  • betwen $4-5 ( without material) $2 for installing fiberock, durrock etc( with my material)

  • just wondering??? what does tile installation go for a square foot in atlanta

  • Michael is the Tile Master! -Evan Cronwell

  • Michael is absolutely amazing. He did a fantastic job on my kitchen. Excellent quality, trust-worthy, and dependable. -Evan Cronwell

  • I've never laid tiles and I was looking at all the vids on youtube to do a project in my house and yours tops them all. I once heard that you have to start at the center of a room to tile it, and you demonstrated that masterfully. Thanks for showing your talent!!

  • nice work, really nice work.(and Im a tiler)

  • excellent work!!!
