  • I am scheduled for this surgery later this month at the VA hospital. Can anyone tell me what the recovery time is? It will be great just to be able to walk again.

  • I'm 10 days post-op and started light cycling today. We did an arthroscopic procedure to take out right hip bursa thats been giving me problems for years. Doc told me to expect full recovery in 30-60 days. Next follow-up for me is in 6 weeks.

  • have you all got snapping hip?

  • Has anyone had the bursa removed without the band release and got relief or became well enough to return to running and exercise such as workouts without any further pain or discomfort? Please elaborate.

  • I'm not sure on much about removing the bursae but I've heard that draining the bursae doesn't do a lot as the fluid builds up again. I've had snapping hip and trochantic bursits for over a year now, and I was a runner, it is now looking like I'm going down the surgery route, but my surgeon ensures that this will eventually get better. Have you considered or had cortisone injections?

  • Have had numerous combination Kenalog steroid/lidocaine injections, which gave me temporary relief. Finally had right hip bursectomy without IT Band release and have done very well with daily hip exercises. I had one additional steroid injection one month after surgery and have not had anymore problems with right hip. I feel like I got my life back, because I can run up and down stairs without pain or discomfort. Life is good again!

  • i cant belive i have to get this done on my hip and knee at 14!!!

  • How did it go? Successful?
