Why is it, on every Bowie video I watch there's some inane reference to how much better it is than hip-hop in general? I'm sorry, but are all Bowie fans 10 years old? I grew out of that attitude in first school. If I like music, I admit it and if I don't, I know that's my opinion, rather than fact.

David Bowie is EPIC and a total legend. He has been around making totally awesome music since forever it seems. I love his earlier music along with his 80's music. David Bowie is just pure talent. I can remember listening to this song hanging out at the pizza parlour with my friends and putting money in the jukebox ( yep they still had them then) to hear all our favorite songs and then playing Pac Man while we just hung out and enjoyed each day to the fullest. Oh to be in the 80's again! I wish!

Ironically, when Bowie entered the mainstream, he lost his edge. And he never really got it back.

This is a goddamn throw away 80's bullshit video, hurriedly rushed out to promote his (then) uncharacteristically romantically inclined Let's Dance song, without giving due consideration for its musical and artistic legacy. It's a sophomoric treatment, an awkwardly apologetic sop intended not to "offend" the supposed expectations of imagined Bowie fans, fearing the public wouldn't accept a straightforward image of Bowie. Well they got it completely wrong! His audience was slighted and insulted.

Throughout the seventies, Bowie was empathic to his image and music and his goal of lifting expectations, pushing the envelope. But this is exactly the moment when he let himself and his fans down. He paints himself glamorously enough in white gloves, but the "pawns" depicted get no equal lighting.
